Oh boy, this food here is NOT GOOD at all. The restaurant is beautiful and is very upscale. It's a great location with a view of the swimming pool and the ocean. From the looks alone, I thought I was going to have a great meal. I was wrong. I ordered the Smokehouse Ribs with fries and mac & cheese. And I got some hush puppies to start with. The hush puppies were just barely OK. Very bland, blah. The ribs were so dry...even though it said it was a dry rub...it was literally like chewing sandpaper. The mac & cheese was the worst I've ever had in my life. Even the smell of it was revolting. I tried two bites and I couldn't have any more. The only thing that was decent was the french fries. Certainly not enough reason to come back here again. They only get a second star because the waitress was very nice and her service was great. If you're looking for good food, I'd skip this restaurant and take the hotel shuttle anywhere else but here. read more

I was staying next door at the embassy suites for a week and are here three different times. It was nice to be able to charge things to my room since it is "on-property". The first time was at an event on the second floor. The space was huge with a very nice setup, but didn't include access to the craft beer that Black Drum is known for. I am not sure if this was the event organizer or just a limitation of the space. They had a build your own salad station, build your own loaded mashed potato station and a brisket carving station. The stations were very clever and fun. The brisket was meh. The next night, I decided to tryout the actual restaurant. It was amazing. Huge beer selection but I had an old fashioned that was very good. I also had the smoked wings with buffalo sauce. My co-worker had the pulled pork sandwich that was ridiculously big. They also have fired pizza which I wanted to try so I stopped in again. It was also great. I wish I could have went a few more times to try their salads and the brisket in the restaurant. The bartenders are also great but it would be nice if they had a whiskey menu. Their selection is very good for a place known for beer (Blantons gold, Blantons, Weller, etc) but with no menu, you end up having to ask how much a pour of each is, or get hit with a surprisingly large bill (I did the latter :)) read more

Terrible service and food. We live in Myrtle Beach and have lot's of restaurant choices. We went there when they first opened but not happy with the food or service. Wanted to give it a second chance and it was actually worse. Over a hundred bucks for two mediocre dinners and a few drinks. We won't be back and will tell our friends not to bother with the Black Drum read more

Service was great and the ribs were delicious would definitely go back Great location right off the beach read more

How does one prepare brisket that is both dry and sopping wet? Somehow the fine folks at Black Drum brewing have cracked the code. The brisket was lifeless, tasteless. It was like the cow cursed the meat which sat limply on the plate. Ok, but how was everything else? Also terrible. Shrimp and bacon skewers covered in a thick, sickeningly sweet gloppy mess. Green beans that tasted fresh from the can. Hush puppies that were the shape of little phalluses. The baked beans weren't bad. If you find yourself here, get the baked beans! Though the food was unpleasant, the drinks were quite good. They had a good variety of beers on tap and their cocktails were well prepared. The drinks are the reason I gave this place 2 stars. The servers were friendly and kind but they were severely understaffed. We opted to sit at the bar after waiting an interminable time waiting to be seated. I'm not sure what was happening there but tables were open while 6 groups crowded around the entrance waiting for someone to turn up and seat us. This place has potential, but it needs a major change in management and menu. read more

Black Drum - Half platter - Bars Near Me - Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

The food was excellent and worth the wait. But there was def a long wait! Other than the wait the service was great & the atmosphere was nice. Outside patio is right next to a lovely pool (not busy or loud this time of year), and the beach just beyond. Loved that the special was fried oysters, not in the regular menu but a lovely surprise and exactly what I wanted. The sauces sure tasted house made, and the coleslaw was really good-sort of a smoky flavor-different and delicious. Several house made salad dressings (woohoo), and the salads were delicious. Another special, grilled cheese and brisket, whaaaaat. Jalapeño corn bread bread (yes bread bread, like a jalapeño corn flavored yeast ish bread), with pimiento cheese and brisket, grilled. Ridiculously rich but so fun. And...hummingbird cake! One of my faves I never can get up north. Very nicely done, with coconut, banana, nuts, and not too cream cheesy frosting. Ok, so how does a place with "brewing" in the name run out of the beer on the menu, that was disappointing. So in its entirety, not perfect but definitely worth it and I recommend. read more

Service was good. Restaurant has a nice vibe. Beer selection is excellent. We had the Flounder fish and chips which was good. The brisket entree was dry and without flavor. The baked beans and mac/cheese was bland. Everyone recommends the pizza. It looked real good read more

Why is this place called "Black Drum Brewing"? They do NOT brew any of their own beer. They really are more of a "Black Drum Taproom". And they're part of the Hilton/Embassy network next door, so expect hotel pricing. ($18-40 per dish, depending on if you have a protein-heavy item) I, personally, wouldn't go out of my way to come here if I was staying in Myrtle, but it can be worth the visit if you're already in the area and can tolerate the prices. If you aren't deep into Kingston, though, there are probably better, and more affordable, places to eat and get beer. PROS: -Wide selection of beer. They're more of a Taproom than a "Brewing", but they still have a decent selection on draft. It was about 10-ish boring options (your Miller Lites), 20 state-ish craft options (North and South Carolina), and 10 not-so-local craft options (regional beers). It wasn't just flagship offerings, either, so you can end up with the seasonal Octoberfest from a city-over brewery. -$14 beer flights. They're expensive beer flights, buuuut they have a large menu of beers. This can be a fun way to try a bunch of different beers at once. -Jacob is probably one of the best servers I've ever had. He said he was leaving soon, but it deserved the shoutout; we had really great, friendly, but-not-overwhelming, service sometimes. -THE PIZZA. Jacob recommended the pizzas on their menu after they hired an amazing pizza chef, and that's 100% my recommendation too if she's working. The pizza has the perfect level of charred-for-flavor taste to it while being PILLOWY soft. I've never had a pizza like it. -Gigantic "complex" of a restaurant. Black Drum is connected by a gate to a hot tub and pool area owned by the Embassy hotel next door. (You're not allowed into the area if you're not staying at the Embassy.) Black Drum, itself, however, has a surprising amount of things to do including a cornhole/bags area, social seating around fireplaces, live music, and more. CONS: -Pricey prices. Between being ocean side, attached to a pool and hot tub lounge, and a hotel-associated restaurant, reasonable prices never stood a chance. -Service quality seems to really vary on the day. It looks like they might be running on minimum servers - whether intentionally or by lack of employees. We've had great, 5-star service (like Jacob), and we've had a server who was trying her best, but she was serving the entire outdoor area by herself. More staff is definitely the solution here. -I'm really not vibing with any of their cocktail offerings. It's a pretty slim menu, and for being the bar/restaurant that overlooks and serves the pool and hot tub area next to the ocean, it's really devoid of "beachy" drinks. -Not the Black Drum's fault, but it's odd that this is a restaurant closer to the beach than some beachfront hotels...and you can't really see the beach/ocean. read more

All staff must be new. So much confusion it's ridiculous. Who manages this restaurant? The couldn't figure how to seat us with almost all empty tables. read more

Food was excellent, service was great. Everyone was very friendly. Ambiance was wonderful.

I always research before I travel and black drum was high on my list. I was in the Myrtle beach area for spring bike week 25'. We rode 40 minutes to black drum only to be essentially turned away. They wouldn't allowed motorcycles past the guard gate and said we could park up the hill and walk the 3/4 of a mile which we would have gladly done but then she dropped the real kicker. Motorcycle parking was $75 per bike. What an absolute scam. If you don't want peasants in your brewery then advertise it that way. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

Black Drum - FEST! - Bars Near Me - Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Good ambiance and pretty good food. We didn't have to wait and sat right down. Server was kind but a little absent most of the time. We started with yummy ipa beer and the hush puppies and honey butter. Both excellent! I got the fish n chips and it was SO GOOD. I could only eat one piece and the fries were good too, but I couldn't eat a lot of them because I was so full from the hush puppies. Hubby got the burger and ordered medium. It was definitely well done. No pink at all. He said it was still good but a little dry. Overall, pretty good! read more

So your basically not a brewery you serve other brews from real breweries and would probably have to take out a loan to eat and drink here to many other local establishments that would serve you reasonably read more

Here for a conference and this was a quick walk from the Hilton. I waited about 10 minutes for a table outside and had a wonderful dinner. Started with a martini and then opted to try a beer flight with dinner. The server recommended the shrimp platter and it was excellent. It was enough for 2 people so I couldn't finish it but I very much enjoyed it. 5 stars for service, food, drink and ambiance. read more

So I want to start out that I've loved Black Drum since the first time I went in October and the most amazing Christmas meal and service. Let me bring you to this day, Easter! I want to also say the GM Joe Lilly is amazing! So here goes with our service today for their Easter service. We arrived 25 minutes before our reservation, not realizing that 2pm was the actual cutoff for the special. We were reminded not only by the host but also the waitress, and mind you, we still arrived at 1:35pm for the last 2pm sitting. Everything started off very well with the first and second course coming out in a reasonable time, however it went down from there. It took more than an hour, two hours from seating, to get our third course. Now before I get into the dismal and cold third course, let me go first to say, we asked for drinks, were told that beer,(MillerLite), tapped.....after not even having 20oz plastic cups because they were not ordered. So we still were waiting on drinks, silverware, and our third course, our waitress informs us that the "take out window" took precedence over us and it was our fault that we had such a late reservation! Now, reservations were from 10-2 and did not say that if you arrived 30" before your reservation you would be penalized with only receiving certain items from the menu! Our main course had the wrong sauces on the meats......they put the cherries on the beef, not the ham and vice versa. They did not give us the BBQ Panko encrusted potatoes, just the graten potatoes, once we showed the manager, he literally came back with a plastic container of panko and told us to put them on the potatoes ourselves!!! They did not give the shrimp and then asked if we "still really wanted it" after bringing the cold and dried out food! As we still requested regular menus from the manager, he became more arragant when I mentioned that my reservations were made by Joe Lilly. He preceded to tell us that "Joe Lilly made the menu and take it up with him" Absolute horrible service recovery! But the best is they changed the menu for today from what was advertised to every paying customer! Numerous changes but the best change to screw the consumer was that the upstairs Dessert bar was no longer existent and we were told because it was too busy! You false advertised, had staff that had no idea what we were even being served, food that was not even consumable but the worst was your manager and waitress made us feel like second class! I will continue to let everyone know on all socials how horrible Black Drum has become in such a short time! Shame on you Black Drum! read more

Great ambiance and convenient location near our hotel. Views of beach and outdoor optional seating with fire pits. We had a large group. Appetizers were fantastic. Meal itself was a bit of disappointment. Several people wanted prime rib and they were sold out. I ordered black drum fish dish and it was dry. Service was ok. We had to ask multiple times for drinks and had no silverware when served our meals. 4-4.5 stars for drinks and appetizers. Service and meal 3 stars. read more

Service. Nobody there - sat at the bar for better service and they were only worried if we were here to watch a game. Missed opportunity.

The food and service. Easter menu was awful. Service was very slow , food was cold. Awful.

Best experience! We walked in 10 minutes early for our reservation and the host greeted us with a smile and sat us right away. The restaurant was clean and vibrant. We were blessed to have Ashlyn as our server as she was kind, fast, and very accommodating it made the entire experience 10/10. We got 2 different pizzas, a brisket sandwich, and the seasonal ravioli and everything was so delicious. Would highly recommend this place and the server Ashly! read more

My second time eating here. Like the last time I was there during lunch and thought the food was really good. Just got the Cobb salad with grilled salmon. The reason I didn't give higher than a three stars is because of their dysfunctional operations. I was at the host stand with one other party and waited 10-15 minutes before we were helped but acknowledged by staff twice and ignored by the manager. Finally got seated and I waited 20 more minutes before being attended to by my waiter. Since I had plenty of time to review the menu I went on ahead and placed my order since everything else was moving slow. He brought my drink and then it was over 45minutes later when I got my salad. Mind you tables around me that were seated and orders placed after me got pizzas, burgers, sandwiches and salads with other proteins. I will not be retuning because I had a similar experience last time. I learned my lesson. read more

Yeah yeah yeah it ain't a brewery which seems like a big issue in some reviews but this is a decent place for a wide selection of locally brewed beers; maybe thirty plus drafts. The space is a huge bright area with a modern industrial vibe and two outdoor places; a smaller one with a fire pit out front and a bigger one in the back overlooking the pool and beach. We had a couple of drinks at the bar and headed to our table where our server Alice was super polite and helpful. We shared some pretzels (they are huge) and shrimp and pork belly skewer which were both solid. The mains were also good with BBQ pork and the chicken sandwich getting kudos from our friends. Our only criticism were the pizzas that needed another minute or two in the over as the crusts were a bit doughy still. We had a good time and did I say "it ain't a brewery"....LOL read more

Worst service ever. We showed up at 7pm, didn't get seated until 8pm and didn't get served until 10pm.

Pleasantly surprised. I figured that this was going to be a typical "resort" dining experience, as it is on the grounds of the Hilton, Embassy, Royal Palms, etc.. where everything was just OK. Not the case at all. Beer list was great, and the food did not disappoint. Service was equally as good. We had shrimp appetizers, Brisket, Burgers, and chicken. Everything we ate was very good. Not only that, but everything else we didn't eat looked just as good. Would not hesitate to dine here again, or stop in for a few beers and apps. read more

We came here for dinner with friends on a Wednesday night. It was a great experience! Our server, Jocelyn, made us feel very welcome and provided excellent service. We sampled several different beers before deciding on our choice, and enjoyed the pork rinds and their special fries while considering our entrees. Everyone had something different and each was delicious - the beer brat was great, as were the pulled pork and the brisket sandwiches. The sides of bbq beans, Mac and cheese, and potato salad were yummy too! And the ambience was cool and modern. Would definitely recommend this and look forward to our next visit. read more
