The restaurant is new and nice inside and has a patio with the view of the pool & ocean. Overall the food is solid, just not great. The prices seem a little high, but since it is in a resort that is kind of expected. I had the fish and felt the portion was about half of what I was expecting. Someone else in my party had a salad entree and it was also smaller than expected. They do have a really nice selection of local beers on tap. Really good variety. No complaints about the service nor anything exceptional to report. I was part of a party of 5, one check. There was a forced gratuity on our check. I've never had a restaurant have a forced gratuity on a party of 5. I was honestly shocked by it. But here is the worst part of their forced gratuity. I was never informed about having a forced gratuity. I called and made reservations, no mention. When we arrived at the hostess stand, no mention. When the waitress took our order, no mention. When the waitress dropped off our check, no mention. I thought our bill looked higher than expected. I looked over it twice all the items looked right, I didn't notice the gratuity line on the itemized bill at first or second glance. I paid with credit card and when the copy came back for my signature there was another line for gratuity, still no mention of one already being included. I've been to plenty of restaurants with forced gratuities before (only for large parties) they are always clearly communicated. I think the way the Black Drum handles this seems to be fairly deceptive. If you decide to go make sure you look at your receipt closely. read more

Loved the beer sampler. The giant pretzel was delicious as well. Everybody seems upbeat and excited to be there. Just be warned that if you order from the window on the patio, the tip is included. Not that it isn't well-deserved, but they don't tell you that so you may end up double tipping. read more

Okay so first of all...make a reservation-we had to watch a family of about 10 try to get in at 630. The grandfather ended up cursing out the poor hostess. It's Myrtle Beach in June-make a reservation. After getting over that display, we were seated outside(which it says on the site a reservation doesn't guarantee that). The view is fine, you're seeing a lot of people in the pool and in the far beyond is the ocean. If you want an ocean front view-The Sea Captains House is a way better choice. We had the pretzel app which was good. Then we split the Caesar salad and 1/2 rack of ribs w Mac and cheese and coleslaw. Portions were plentiful and the food was good. Not my favorite spot, but an okay spot at the beach. Also, we don't have kids-but if you do, it's a GREAT spot for kids and good value. For a couple, there are better spots. read more

The service was terrible. We waited 15 minutes for someone to approach us and once they took our order it was 15 minutes before we got our drink order. The restaurant was half full. Sandwich was greasy and not good read more

We had a group of 20 reserved under a few different tables. Nightmare getting seated. Then became an issue of not having one of the confirmed reservations. Meanwhile there was plenty if seating. Note. Seats stayed empty. Will tell you how I know. Waitress was great but food arrived haphazardly. Ribs were ordered by at least 3 folks and then were told 45 minutes later there were none left. One of the party never received her meal until we left 3 hours later. Two others had to reorder and wait to receive for 45 minutes. Back to my earlier comment. Still plenty of seating but meanwhile they wouldn't seat 6 in our group. The place has a great atmosphere and I feel like it can do well. But they need a lot of operational help. This is really my first unfavorable Yelp review but I believe being honest will help them improve. I hope to come back next year and see things improve read more

This place is way too overpriced, I paid $32 for a salmon caesar salad that was not even tasty. Save your money!

My husband and I enjoyed our meal at the Black Drum. The restaurant had a relaxed atmosphere. Delaney was a great server. She recommended a few dishes which we decided to try. I had the pumpkin sage ravioli and my husband had the pot roast. The pot roast was tender and filling. The pumpkin sage ravioli was unique and delicious. The raviolis were stuffed with a pumpkin mixture topped with shrimp and salmon. Delaney is very personable as well as attentive which made the evening wonderful. read more

Great experience all around. If you have any debate on coastal grill and black drum...there is no comparison. One is a great experience with friendly staff and great food and the other is just filling up. Sydney was our server and was truly a delight. Starters I recommend the fish on pizza crust as it was great. Bear and steaks 5 stars. Hope you get over there and it only ran about $15 more than coastal. read more

The ambiance is very nice. The server was very friendly and got our order correct. The food was fantastic. The pizza was delicious. We got the Honey pizza and it was so good. Oh WOW! My girls group of 7 attended the "Girl's Weekend" at Kingston and enjoyed it so much! Chef Joe and staff from Black Drum really impressed us with delicious appetizers, a tasting buffet of small plates and gorgeous desserts! The presentation and food quality was top notch! We will definitely be back! read more

Food and drinks were well received. We enjoyed both. Trust me both dishes were great. Others had the muscles (they said were good, and the chicken sandwich- no food complaints noted.) We we're seated at a large picnic style table with roomy bench's attached. More suited for outdoors. The majority of guests were sitting at the bar. I wrote a better review but it was on the first picture and I didn't want to rewrite it. Service was great too. We had a party of 5 plus 2 toddlers. Thanks Kristina. (I think it was her first day) we would try it again. read more

Lunchtime. Decor was great. Place was clean. Appetizer Pretzel was huge and delicious. The mustard sauce had crushed mustard seed and a hint of horseradish. The hamburger was also delicious, but a little too greasy. I used my napkin to wipe down the bottom bun. Then it gets a little weird. Our waiter "warned?" us that they are not really a lunch place. And when I commented the tea was way too strong he said they don't specialize in Tea. The "BrieLT" was just a BLT with a bit of Brie spread. Not a slice of Brie. The toast was sopping with butter. I guess I should of asked if they specialized in BrieLTs I wouldn't say to avoid the place but I can't really recommend it. read more

Location is great. Beautiful place but I took my order to go. So please excuse these bed photos, but I was at a work conference and tired of small talk. Food is pretty good. The bbq chicken entree is enough for three people. I'm not sure the mustard sauce added anything, and that's saying a lot because I love mustard bbq sauce. The chicken was fall off the bone good. The veggies left much to be desired. Absolutely no seasoning and pretty undercooked. Potatoes were delightful. So maybe don't try to be healthy and go straight for the mac and cheese. read more

5 star food (3 star rating bc of service)! We had a much different experience than the other reviews, seated with a much longer than estimated wait for an outdoor table, then waited almost half an hour for our waitress to even acknowledge us after we were seated. The food was delicious (ordered Caesar salad, pulled chicken and hush puppies, and the burger as well as drinks) and would 1000% go back for the food ... especially the blackberry BBQ sauce YUM Just wish the wait staff had acknowledged how long we had waited with no service and been a bit more genuinely apologetic about it (whether it was the waitstaff or the hostess' mistake) read more

My group enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Black Drum on 3/11. The food tasted great and was cooked perfectly. Our server did a wonderful job and was attentive. Huge shout out to John for doing a great job getting people seated quickly and efficiently as it was busy and there were some folks that were beginning to be less than patient. He remained cool under pressure. read more

Spectacular building and design! Very classy and modern. Bartenders are friendly and patient!! Great beer and wine selection and the menu looked nice as well. Need to work on wifi. Maybe offer flights? Definitely sort out the lack of pizza when it's a focal point next to the bar. read more

Accidental find.... Decided to stop.... It's called a brewery, but they don't brew their own beer.... Sat at the bar (8 people deep) with 4 bartenders.... Was there 7 minutes before we had to ask for service it was not offered. Ordered drinks . We were not offered menus until we ask. Second drink was non existent.... Props to the kitchen because the food was phenomenal!!! We had fish and chips and the appetizer hush puppies! Delightful. read more

We tried to eat here, the staff was extremely rude and unprofessional, so we left. They were somewhat busy, but there were many, many open tables. It seemed like a place that had just opened where they didn't know how to treat customers, but I think they've been open for quite a while. read more

Everything we had was great! It came out quickly, waiter was great, and a very nice environment.

Beautiful building, great location but they need to make improvements. Our server was over almost instantly and started off on on a great note. The restaurant wasn't overly busy, maybe 30 patrons. We ordered two beers, two waters and an appetizer. The appetizer came out quickly and our server took our lunch order. Didn't see our server for 7-10 more minutes (waiting on our beers). Our lunch came out and still no beers, so of course I asked and the beers finally came after our meal was served? Still no waters. Food: so-so. I got the bratwurst, bun was very stale and brat dry. My meal partner had the salad "special" with a seasonal smoked dressing that apparently was simply liguid smoke flavored balsamic Not impressed read more

A complete letdown. The Easter menu looked interesting and we were unaware we would be getting the entire meal presented to us. Serving rabbit on Easter Sunday was certainly a choice. To get in and out of the place was odd, but that's Myrtle Beach and its tourist destination vacations. We were seated outside. Our waiter kept disappearing and we didn't even have plates to eat. I had to flag down another waitress to get plates. Our food was basically cold by that point. Allowing hotel guests to play table tennis and toss balls near dining guests went as expected and an entire table got hit with an overthrow. Not thrilled gratuity was included. Our waiter deserved none of the tip and I wanted to give the waitress who actually helped us, but I wasn't giving that place one more dine. Fail. read more

This review is one star too many for countless reasons, but I'll list four: 1. "Brewing" is misleading at best. They don't brew anything here. Go to Crooked Hammock, New South, or Tidal Creek if you want to try an actual local brewery. 2. Took our party of four 25 minutes to get beers (maybe they were brewing them because it took so long). After that, food took almost an hour more. 3. MASSIVELY OVERPRICED food that is worse than a bowling alley snack bar. If you want to be out $250 for a dinner for four and a couple of beers, there are dozens of better restaurants in a 10 minute radius. 4. Not a family friendly atmosphere, but might provide some entertainment if you like crime dramas and dining in fear. Shortly after our visit, EMS and Police arrived had to arrive on scene of Black Drum. read more

Wow, wow, wow.... This place ticked all the boxes. Great service, clean, amazing ocean view, parking, great Bloody Mary, food presentation made our mouths drop and the only problem was even with a hungry Marine we could t eat it all. The brisket was absolutely perfect and the ribs and chicken fell off the bones. I was surprised by the pork rinds-so yummy and fresh. Must experience if you are in the Myrtle Beach area. Walked in at 7:20 and ordered banana pudding to go. Waited 25 minutes and got deconstructed banana pudding. I understand this is probably done to preserve the pudding for a longer time period if it isn't a hot seller. This way the bananas don't turn brown and the cookies don't get soggy. However, this ruins the iconic idea of banana pudding where all the ingredients have a chance to blend together and make a cohesive southern classic dessert. I would've forgiven the faux pas if it tasted good but sadly it didn't. I will also agree with other reviewers who stated the hostess's are rude. They don't smile or speak until spoken too. They need training in customer service. The restaurant was modern and lively but I can't speak to the waitress standards as my order was to go. read more

Hi! Lovely location! Excellent host/hostess staff! It was afternoon thus I sat at bar and had a NA brew, shrimp & pork belly app. The service was ok(I was greeted and my order taken and told goodbye when leaving). The app had flavor, however, served at a cold temp and thus a bit disappointing. I ordered a piece of Hummingbird to go(the person who brought to me bagged, was very service friendly). A bit costly for the three items + gratuity, but I understand it is ocean view. Lastly, only a total of 12 people in a very large restaurant. This may be due to a Tuesday afternoon. Would I visit Black Drum again.....I will not say never, but would think twice first. Thank you! read more

Great location, disgusting food. Tomato bisque was the consistency and taste of a jar of spaghetti sauce. Over-priced chicken sandwich was an overcooked, nasty chicken THIGH. Where is the warning? We do not want trouble for the server (who was great), so we sent it back and still offered to pay. We just don't want to eat disgusting food. She brought sous chef out and we suggested maybe the menu could be more descriptive. We felt he projected arrogance at that fact that we expected more than the nastiest cut of meat from Walmart... oh... and for like 20 bucks! In the end, they tool it off the bill, but this was a once and done. read more

We are locals who are very familiar with Kingston Plantation. We watched the ongoing creation of Black Drum along with the construction of the new pool and water slides and I must say Kingston totally missed the mark, especially with Black Drum. We ate there yesterday and were totally shocked at the lack of ambiance, food prices and quality along with the poor service. The place had many empty tables, however the bar area was full with loud patrons who were watching sports on the tv's. Our waitress took our drink orders and returned with them a short time later only to disappear for at least 15 minutes or longer to take our food orders, with the food, which I wouldn't feed to a dog, arriving 20 minutes later. Myrtle Beach has many dining opportunities which far exceed this place, so do yourself a favor and avoid Black Drum like the plague. read more

Waited to be served for almost 20 minutes and 100 of their employees walk by. A place meant for the tourist staying in the resorts next to the "brewery" which by the way makes NONE of their own beer. How can you call your restaurant Black Drum Brewing if there's nothing being brewed? Opened in February and by now why aren't the kinks worked out? 100 people on staff and 10 people dining, manager was just noisily pushing in chairs over and over. We watched as staff cluelessly wandered around, drank from the soda fountain and no one could tell us who was going to be serving us. The menu looked solid, too bad we left after so long. What a waste of time to get to. Keep your tourists that have no better option than to dine with you. Amazing building though. It will go to waste. read more

We arrived around 1:30 pm June 22, 2023. First service was so slow, finally waited on and we received a water and ordered beer. 15 min later we received our beers. We wanted to order pizzas and couldn't do until 4pm. So we ordered a smoked dip which wasn't bad but no plates to put it on. Restaurant looks nice but our waiter was very inattentive and food wasn't very good at all. We had the large BBQ platter and everything was extremely dry. Sausages were inedible because they had been cooked and reheated so many times. Ribs were decent but they didn't cut the individual ribs at all so we just had to tear at it. Very very dry but still best thing on the platter. We had to get up and find our own silverware and go to the bar for refills because our waitress was MIA and there weren't many other servers anywhere to be seen. read more

We took a chance on Black Drum Brewing even though the ratings were a little mixed and it did NOT disappoint! We also got the grilled shrimp skewers, fish and chips, and chicken tenders. All were great dishes. The outdoor seating area has a great vibe and the staff was friendly. I made reservations for Mother's Day expecting a great evening. I had the 1/2 rack BBQ ribs and wife had brisket. The ribs were worst ever. They are NOT 12 hour slow cooked but hard and bony. I showed the waiter all the gristle-waste. Salad was okay, the yellow tomatoes had no taste and served with romaine lettuce. Bill was 65.00 and I left a $6. tip. Beautiful campus with fire pits and gear lounge areas - compliments to Hilton. But this place would never make it on the strip with all the great food choices.
