I had an event at Black Bottle. I was from out of town and it was a leap of faith. But oh, how it paid off. It was for a celebrity wedding celebration and the atmosphere, staff, and bites were perfect. It was actually beyond perfect. The bar was quick and served the most fabulous drinks, even though it was all inclusive. I cannot recommend it more highly for an event. Really enjoyed the vibe of this restaurant, perfect for a small group of people that like to try several items. We ordered various plates, from escargots to duck breast and cauliflower fritters! All of the food was delicious, especially the short ribs that melted in your mouth. Service was great, but a tad slow. There was only one waitress working the entire restaurant, so it is understandable that there was a wait. She was lovely and doing her best, so we tipped well! Overall, highly recommend going with a small group and trying several of their delicious dishes and yummy cocktails. Returned to Black Bottle after a couple of years I haven't been there. Parking did not get easier in Bellevue. Quite the opposite. The service was excellent and our server confident with tasty recommendations when asked. I find that I enjoy receiving recommendations. We shared a few dishes that were all tasty. Everything was readily shareable and allowed us to enjoy a variety of flavors. One cocktail was made well. Beer recommendation hit the target. Couldn't ask for more. All in all great venue and atmosphere, tasty food, capable bar and great service. We'll be back! read more

Came here for dinner recently with a friend and had a great time! Our waitress was very friendly and patient (took us awhile to figure out what to order). The food was good, a little pricy b/c the portions are tiny but that's kind of normal now. About $180 for two of us to dine out, we split 4 things and had 2 glasses of wine. All the food was great but small portions for the same price as other places with much larger portions. Scallops were the smallest I've ever seen in my life LOL but delicious! We had a reservation for dinner last night at 6:15 (on a Saturday). When we got there it wasn't busy at all and I was thinking we could've just walked in and been fine. By 7 the place was packed - definitely make a reservation! We'd never eaten tapas style before, so we were a little unsure on how much food to get - there were two of us. So we started off with three plates, and honestly, it would've been enough if we weren't hungry to begin with. We ended up ordering two more and that for sure filled me up. Favorites were the pork tacos (we almost ordered those again but wanted to give other things a try), and the crab and artichoke gratin (super rich but so so good). The Major Danger drink was really tasty as well. It's a very tiny martini glass, but they leave you the shaker so you can pour more as you want. Don't forget to use their parking garage off 10th if you want them to validate your parking. We almost missed the entrance because it's right by all the construction barricades and it's not *right* off 10th (you have to turn down what looks like a little alley). read more

Overall, we enjoyed our time here! A great place to go with a group to try several new plates! Located in the general Bellevue Mall area but a block or so over made for a nice escape on a Saturday evening during the holidays! The food here is intended to be shared and eaten once it comes out. Because of this, our group ordered several different things to share. The food came out very quickly (too quickly actually that we weren't able to get through each plate). Service was great as well! Here is what we ordered: Avocado Fries ($12.50) - these were ok. Perfectly cooked, came out extremely hot and came with tartar sauce. Probably wouldn't order these again as they were nothing memorable. Delicata Squash & Hazelnut Ravioli ($19) - good flavor for these but came with probably more mushrooms than anything. These were pretty good and I'd order again! Kefte lamb meatballs mezze plate ($23) - these were perfectly cooked and had good flavor. Not as many meatballs as I was expecting though. Malbec Demi-glazed PNW beef short ribs ($35) - perfectly cooked. Smaller portion than expected for the price point. Pear & Gorgonzola flatbread ($17) - good with lots of flavor! This was actually larger than expected and a favorite of the group Lemon curd ricotta cake ($13.50) - very good! Not an overpowering cheesecake type flavor and the lemon was mild. Recommend! Overall, the food was good, but not super memorable. Great for groups who enjoy trying new things as everything is intended to be shared. I give BB a solid 3 maybe a 3.5, nothing spectacular but nothing seriously wrong either. Compared to some other my 4 stars, they fall just a bit short. Smoked Old Fashioned was tasty, love the use of rye to cut the sweetness, so if you love a traditional sweet one, this isn't for you. Lots of room here, it quickly gets noisy as it fills up. Staff is pleasant and attentive enough, maybe a hair indifferent - I feel like it could be intentional service; "get in, get the order, get out of the way, the guests aren't here to include you in their evening". If you like to interact, this might not be for you. We ordered the salad and a couple of flatbreads. The salad was well proportioned to share, tasty, but waaaaaay too cheesey. Seriously how does a salad get too cheesey? The flatbreads were just okay. They were a little too bready for a flatbread and a bit on the dry side. The fresh mozzarella on one was cooked under salami and it was just.....off Seems like a great place if you have a big crowd, great for a work function, spacious and efficient service that doesn't linger. Always a great time. Restaurant is a little chilly with the huge floor to ceiling windows but service is excellent and the food is always good. They are really great with allergies as well. Have a section of their menu dedicated to gluten free a section dairy free and a second for nut and sesame free as well. $6 for a coke is a little outrageous though. read more

Black Bottle has been on my list of places to try while in Bellevue. However, the past few times I was in town for work, I never had the opportunity to stop by. During my latest trip, I got the chance to scratch this place off my list. We arrived at Black Bottle around 7pm on a Wednesday night. The place was considerably busy, but we were able to snag a table without having a reservation. Service was totally fine. Food and drinks came out promptly, and our waiter was great. We had several items to share including sides of broccoli, cauliflower, pear gorgonzola flat bread, and braised beef ribs. The pears didn't have the sweetness I expected, but they added a nice, crunchy texture on the flatbread. Loved the sharpness of the gorgonzola though. The beef ribs were delicious. They were pretty tender, and I enjoyed the flavorful marinade. read more

I have been here several times over the years. I love the food here and drinks are amazing as well. I ALWAYS order the Pear and Gorgonzola Flat bread here. It is my favorite. The cauliflower Dish and squash & hazelnut ravioli is delicious as well. I have mostly visited this place for girls night. The portions are not huge neither are they small. This place has the right cozy vibe that me and my girlfriends enjoy. They take reservations which is another reason will love coming here again and again. Would I recommend this for meeting friends? I came to this place with 8 of my coworkers to celebrate a successful launch of a project. It was located in the heart of the Bellevue area right under the Avalon apartments (not sure if I got the name right). Parking is available on the opposite side of the restaurant and they provide a two hour validation for customers. We tried almost all the choices and I have to say that the chicken fried was my favorite. Unfortunately, they don't have a whole lot of options for my taste. They don't have any burgers, fries but they do have a couple of tacos but then again, I was informed that this place is a tapas restaurant. The service was pretty good and they kept coming and checking up on us frequently but then again, there weren't that many people. I think the highlight of my night is when I had a sip of their mojito, it was amazing, I loved it. Have eaten at Black Bottle several times over the years (maybe five or more) while in town for business. Always found it a fun place to take a group of coworkers for a fun meal in casual atmosphere. This time was not as good as I remember. Came in on a Thursday night. It was not that crowded. Service was friendly, but not very attentive. Mussels were off - bad smell and taste. We told the server and they took them away and took off the bill, so that was good. Had a Caribbean chicken dish with rice, beans and plantains. Overall I'd give Black Bottle 3.5 stars but am bumping it up because the ambiance is nice, plus they have some killer broccoli. I've stopped in a couple times this year, for both food and drinks. Both times I shared the Broccoli Blasted ($12.75) and the Blistered Shishito Peppers & Ladolemono ($9.5). I prefer the broccoli between the two, but the peppers are fun since every once in a while someone will bite into a spicy one. Will it be you? I also got a vegan version of the Baby Gems Salad with Crispy Shaved Artichoke Hearts ($16.5) since I needed to eat and the menu is lacking substantial vegan options. Even the plain flat-bread comes pre-cheesed. Oh well. Drinks and snacks will have to suffice! We arrived for Happy Hour at Black Bottle and it felt like they weren't ready for service. It took so long that we ended up walking up to the bar to order and we're told that the server would come. While very nice, it seems like the servers were more interested in talking to each other than helping guests. The atmosphere is trendy and industrial, that also means cold. We were lucky enough to get a spot by the fireplace so we're very content. We ordered drinks and the nachos. While tasty, we had to ask for more chips to finish it. The interior design looks like what I imagine my life could be like if I could just live in West Elm or Crate & Barrel and security wouldn't force me to leave the display bed or dining room. The beautiful rustic tables are perfectly accented with antique silver basins, flickering flames of tealight candles, and green fronds. The restaurant is comprised of a large modern open concept dining room with a large black matte bar on one side and floor to ceiling windows overlooking the Bellevue street. We've been here a couple of times now for happy hour and both times have really enjoyed our experience. The service has been both prompt and friendly and I love the gluten free designations on their menu. I've had the pulled pork tacos, the pork belly with kimchi (my fav!), some seriously delicious broccoli, and a great salad. The pork belly is really super delicious and my favorite that I get every time. It's crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside and oh oh so saucy! My second time to this establishment, my first experience pre COVID was good food with horrible bathrooms. The urine smell was utterly disturbing and immediately changed my focus on the establishment as I had eaten some of my food.Our dishes of four appetizers were actually delicious, despite the restroom. I went back last night, New Menu with a New attitude and the freshest, cleanest bathrooms. The menu had changed and our server was a pure delight!! She barely came around during our time there. We ordered as appetizer -crab & artichoke dip with flat bread which was very tasty. It was creamy & flavorful. Flat bread was warm & soft. As entrees we ordered the short ribs & barbacoa nachos. Short ribs were decent. The meat was soft & you could definitely taste the spices. The potatoes were yummy too. Definitely could use something different. Barbacoa nachos were good. They were a little dry. Some chips were crunchy while others were really soggy. For dessert we ordered the lemon lavender cheesecake. It wasn't it. It lacked flavor. It had a grainy feel to the bite. We barely finished it. Would not order again. Parking is behind the building near the apartment garage. You must bring ticket to be validated. However you will still need to pay something on your way out. We were there for less than 2hrs & had to pay $5 not bad but still annoying since it doesn't validate full price. Finally gave this place a shot after hearing a friend rave about it. The good news is that the ambience in the restaurant is romantic and beautiful with the twinkle lights at night - great location for a date night out. Service is decent - expect slower service during peak dining hours. However, the food was sadly mediocre, even below average - the prosciutto and bechamel flatbread had TWO (yes, we counted!) measly, skimpy pieces of prosciutto on a giant rectangle slab of bread, so all you're REALLY eating is just bland cheese and a dry, crusty flatbread for $15 - ANYONE can probably make a better version yourself for $5 or less. Definitely avoid ordering this one at all cost! The only possibly redeeming dish in this meal was the Brazilian chicken on rice with plantains. The chicken was fall-off-the-bone tender and plantains were flavorful; however, the rice and chicken could have used a bit more heat/spice. We really wanted to like this place, but given the plethora of other good food options out in the Bellevue area, this will unfortunately not be on our list of spots to revisit again. read more

The wait staff here was attentive at times, but then wouldn't come around at times as well. When we first sat down, the restaurant was empty, so they were quick to greet us and take our drink orders but after that it was so-so service. The weirdest part of the service is that I ordered a beer, he brought me a beer, then when I tried to order a different beer the next time, that is when he told me he actually gave me that beer because they ran out of the other. if he had told me this from the start, then there's nothing wrong with that, but I've never had a waiter bring me a different beer than what I ordered. He clearly knew, but just didn't tell me so if I tried to order the same beer, he wouldn't have even said anything. The service is the main reason the review is a 3 star. As for the food, everything came out quickly and hot. There wasn't a dish that we didn't like. Because we were a party of 12, we needed to order double of everything, but their food was great for sharing and getting a taste of everything. Maybe you decide you want more food, maybe you want another round of drinks. Whatever it is, the staff will happily provide recommendations. While I love Black Bottle's vibes, I don't love the food. It's not bad, but there's nothing special about it. Some dishes feel a little too oily and some are a tad dry. I feel like everything would be better with bolder flavors. But luckily for me, the Wilted Baby Spinach Kale Goat Cheese Nuts Salad is always on point (note: I love kale, goat cheese, and salads, and this is admittedly a hard thing to mess up). Im not much of a tapas fan due to the fact that most places I've been to with tapas offers about a bite or two per person, per plate. Thats not the case here. You actually get shareable portions! And all of the food was delicious! I love the funky vibe this place has. Very Washington. My husband, who's from Texas, didn't get it-haha. Its always fun to see little places like this confuse people (or maybe its just him). ANYWAY. We got the Pork Belly because I saw it all over Yelp. and then the Wild Boar ribs because that just sounded delicious. The Pork Belly was a very large portion! And it was so moist as well. Really big, thick pieces. And the sweet chili sauce it went with was perfect. The Wild boar ribs-again, super moist. They fell right off the bone! Id have to say between the two, the ribs were my favorite. But that doesn't mean the pork belly wasn't good! We also got some Shishito peppers and fried olives. I LOVE Shishito peppers and the whole Roulette game you get to play with them. I don't think my husband, or anyone who doesn't like spicy food, thinks thats a very fun game though-ha. The menu is obviously curated. This is a chef that knows his Lane and passion and stays in it to great effect. And his Lane is wide. The bar tenders are the same. I asked for a unusual bourbon cocktail off menu and she not only knew it but killed it. Balanced and wonderful. Come here on a romantic date. Being work friends and celebrate a project completion. There is plenty of seating, so making reservations on short notice is thankfully very easy, even for a Saturday evening. The service was friendly and attentive, which I appreciated. I would really recommend trying the escargot. It was really amazing here. DO NOT TRY THEIR FLATBREADS!! They are previously made. I asked if I could get something taken off and they told me they are already pre made and maybe they could scrape off what I didn't want. Incredible food. Amazing drinks. Excellent service. I started with the ol' smokey: a bourbon concoction that comes out in a glass chamber of smoke. The flavor is spot on. The presentation is fun. I then had the baby gems with crispy artichoke. Very tasty and a great start to the eating experience. Short ribs in Malbec glaze. Omfg. So tender it just melted like butter. And I could drink that glaze right out of a mug. These short ribs blew my mind. I ended the evening with the bread pudding. It was kinda "deconstructed".
