This shop might be good at jacking up your 4 wheeler or putting a winch on your truck, but they are no good at engine work. They charged me almost $400 to make my SUV run worse than when I dropped it off. read more

Over the course of 4 major installs, I experienced repeated safety issues, repeated revisits to correct things missed, rented vehicles to deal with his issues, poor workmanship, & a lack of accountability from Black Bear Off-Road. I spent over $14,000 with this shop, & instead of peace of mind, I got ongoing mechanical problems & dangerous oversights. This review is to warn others before they make the same mistake. Most dangerous issue: My front driveshaft bolts were left finger-loose, & rear bolts weren't torqued. No Loctite, no torque spec. I only found out after another shop inspected the work. Had it come loose at speed, it could've ripped through the transfer case or floorboard--or caused a total loss of control. When I sent photos to Bradley, he downplayed it & insisted Loctite was visible, but regardless it should've been torqued per spec. Fox shocks were the wrong size for my 6.5" lift. The Jeep felt pinned down & yanked left/right over bumps. I feared for my family's safety. A second shop confirmed the shocks were only rated for 4". Decals on both incorrect & replacement shocks were scratched, despite being "brand new." SumoSprings were completely missed on the initial install. I returned to have them installed--only to watch the wrong ones go on. Later, they fell out entirely. The manufacturer confirmed improper installation, & my invoice showed blue springs, not the black ones I received. EVO HD coils began aggressively scraping the Steer Smarts sector shaft brace during light articulation. I had flagged this known clearance issue to Bradley before install. He said: "We'll only address it if it becomes an issue." The bolt was installed backward, worsening contact. The axle should've been moved back. This damage was avoidable. The MetalCloak sway bar bracket is bolt-on, yet I was charged for welding. MetalCloak confirmed welding was unnecessary. Even after negotiating the cost down, the bolt came loose in two weeks. I had to fix it myself. The MetalCloak outboard shock mount spacer kit was installed with random bolts. One was too long, & neither side used the proper hardware. I contacted MetalCloak, & they sent me a replacement kit so I could do it right. A long, mismatched bolt was also used on my rear lower shock mount--creating a clearance hazard. The driver side was fine, proving it was just random hardware selection. I was even charged labor to install one screw into a light bar bracket I couldn't align. What they used was undersized, looked off, & wasn't OEM. Main unresolved issue: There's still a persistent pull to the left & a rhythmic bump. Nearly all the installs were meant to address this exact problem--driveshafts, regear, steering, suspension. Yet the problem is worse than before. A top reputable shop now suspect the root cause is either the driveline or regear work and I'm scheduled to have them correct it. I also discovered an axle seal leak after my regear and was told it's normal wear and tear. Whether caused during install or simply ignored, it reinforces the complete lack of detail & oversight and during a regear new axel seals should've been recommended. It didn't stop with bad installs. I had to send 15+ emails just to get accurate invoices. Model numbers were often missing. There's no structured system--just chaos. Communication was inconsistent at best, dismissive at worst. The bigger issue is that Bradley likely didn't do most of the work himself. His techs did, & there's no quality assurance before sending vehicles out. Despite their claimed experience, the lack of structure, accountability, & detail is staggering. I believe I'm owed a full refund for labor & compensation for lost/damaged parts & rental car--but I'm confident that'll never happen. Bottom line: This isn't just a bad review--it's a warning. If you value safety, craftsmanship, & communication, stay far away. I wish someone had written this before I ever went there. Now I am. There's no way after all these issues I've had that someone else hasn't dealt with similar things. read more
