I needed service on the wife's 2000 Toyota Solara for an oil leak I thought was from the valve cover gaskets. I searched the area for an auto service shop in Cumming, Georgia. After reviewing several , I made some calls to ask questions pertinent to the service I needed. Mike Smith, owner of Total Automotive, took time to speak with me and answered my questions. I took the car to Total Automotive and several hours later Mike called and explained the service required to fix the vehicle and said it would necessitate leaving it several days in order to get parts, etc. Several days later, Mike called and told me the car was fixed and was in good shape. when I picked the car up Mike took time to explain that he had cleaned most of the leaked oil on the undercarriage but there may be a few more drops cause he could not clean all areas. Mike said to keep an eye on it and if there were ant drops past the next couple of days to bring it back as he stands 110% behind his work. it's been over a week and I have not seen a drop of oil on the driveway. my wife says she no longer smells burning oil in the cabin and that her car runs better than ever. I was a huge fan and a customer of Mike Smith at Total Automotive for 2 years. I thought of him as a friend of high character and a great mechanic. I don't feel that way any more. I bought a used jeep for my daughter and paid Total Automotive a $1000 to make it dependable. He kept the car for a week. The jeep's engine froze up in less than 30 days. My daughter only drove back and forth from school (15 mile round trip). Mike felt no responsibility in the matter. He offered to charge me $2300 for a used motor that I could buy for $1400 and charge me a discounted $1300 to put the motor in. I found another mechanic who will do it for $700. Needless to say, I've lost all respect for Total Automotive and Mike Smith. read more

This is a GREAT place to get your car serviced. Mike Smith with Total Automotive, Inc came highly recommended. I was a little nervous since everyone we had used up to this point as a mechanic was dishonest; I really did not trust anyone!!! Mike changed my view. Finally, I had found someone that would not rip me off -I found him to be the most honest mechanic around, very helpful-great advice on my vehicles (we have had 3). Took my 97 ford truck in to get service engine light taken care of $650 later,still on. Then The genius that I am I took my sons Altima In to get power steering pump fixed because it went out and the tab was $485 son brought it home and pump was still leaking. I took it back they replaced the leaking hose and then charge me another hour labor in which the leaking hose should have been taken care of at the time of installation of new pump so if you want to pay $600 for a freaking power stirring pump that is about $125-$150 at a part store Total Auto Motive is your place. This is just my experience Mike seems to be a very nice guy but I will not be going back and he probably won't miss me because anytime I take something to him and never goes right. These are just my experiences you may have better luck so if you do go good luck. By the way the one extra hour they charged me is what has totally put me over-the-top of ever going back there again complete BS. read more
