Our cabin was 45 minutes away and we had no luck with Uber. He took our family of 5 back to our cabin. He worked that evening and had our van repaired by 7:15 the next morning so we could enjoy our last day of vacation. I found Brown's Automotive on Google and had the car towed there based on proximity to her house and Google reviews. When I got there I told him that we just put a brand new starter on it, but it still wasn't starting. I told him that I lived out of town, so I needed it repaired quickly. He said he would look at it, but has a mandatory $150 for the first hour. I said ok. He called me and said the new starter was faulty and had to replace it. He did, then called back and said his starter didn't fix the problem either and thought it was the ignition. He said it would take time because it is hard to get to. Well, I didn't hear from him in 2 days. I texted and no response. I called and he just said same thing "I'm working on it, but think it's the ignition." I didn't hear from him again for several days, so her dad called him. He told him that he couldn't work on the car because it was raining and he works on cars outside. I told him he lied to you because he has a big shop with 2 bays. After having the car for exactly 7 days, he finally calls me and says "There is nothing more I can do. I think its the ignition, but to test it I have to take the steering column apart, if I do that I mine as well just replace it." So basically since the day he got it, he changed out a brand new starter that we just put on it and did nothing else with it. Just let it sit for 6 days. So I told him I was going to have it towed somewhere else. He charged me $460. I knew immediately that he was screwing me over, but I just wanted my car back and to finally go home so I paid it. I looked at the receipt and saw he charged $160 for the part which I new was right, the $150 for the labor which he told me in advance about, and then $150 for diagnosis. He didn't diagnose anything because he never touched the car after the starter. Then I noticed at the bottom of the receipt he wrote "car won't start ignition?" Was that what I paid $150 for? That is NOT a diagnosis! The new mechanic sent me a video to show he didn't even put the heat cover over the starter he installed (see attached pictures). So he also screwed me over for the $150 half-ass installation he did. What a crook! Do NOT waste your money. I think all of these positive reviews are just family and friends of his and not real customers.

Front desk doesn't consistently answer the phone or text in a timely fashion. She was on her cell…read morephone every time I came into the shop despite her not responding to requested updates after waiting days/weeks for a response. Looking for a solution for the cause of a check engine light, Total changed the spark plugs twice, replaced a smog device, and sent home the truck 4 times after I paid $1000 to FIX the cause. Check engine light came back on every time I cranked the truck the next day after "repair." Was told if it happened the 5th time, bring it back and they'll try something else. While at the shop, I drove by one day to see my truck parked where I'd left it despite being told it was "inside the shop and being worked on." Spoke to one of the mechanics about progress on the repair and he gave info that was the exact opposite of what was told by the front desk. Was lectured by the front desk and told that the problem was that I "misunderstood" what she was telling me. Third local shop that can't handle the magnitude of business that is flowing in now that Hall County is a suburb of Atlanta.

Straight forward and direct…read more I've worked in the auto business for 20+yrs, and I've worked with some shady folks in those years. I've heard every line, and just about every excuse for not following through. I've dealt with junkyard and salvage yards hundreds of times, and these guys have been there for me multiple times (in both the old and new location). I needed an engine for my personal car this go'round, and of the two people I spoke with on the phone, they both genuinely seemed to care about what I was looking for, and when I needed it by. There was some confusion over one engine this, and another engine that, but that's because there was a communication gap between phone calls, and HPC cannot be blamed for this. Donor arrived at their site, then they pulled the engine and had me an engine the same day the donor arrived, and then a phone call to let me know it was ready for pickup. Cool. Being an old technician, I do all my own work, so I just needed them to source the engine this go'round. The mileage was written on the valve-cover, and the VIN plate was still attached so I could do some background check on the car it came out of. Neat. My only gripe is that the parking lot can be tough to get in and out of when they are busy, but that happens at every business, so it's no biggie. I'll be back when I need something else.

After paying hundreds of dollars for the tow truck to deliver to the shop the owner BJ and his colleague informed me that he did not know how to repair the truck. BJ then tells me he has a friend he could call to repair the truck. He never called the friend and kept saying the friend was busy. He refused to give me the friend's info as promised, continuously lied about the status of the truck and parts, and eventually complained that I needed to stop hounding him because he doesn't have time to deal with it. After weeks of waiting I called a tow truck to remove my vehicle and BJ parked another vehicle in front of my truck and made up a bogus claim that I owed him money for storage fees and refused me my vehicle. To make matters worse, I call the police to assist me with the issue and they gave me a really hard time and sided with him without any legitimate reasons and advised him to go put a lien on the vehicle while I was there to retrieve it. He did not have any type of work order or contract( obviously because he couldn't repair it). There was never any mentioning of a storage fee prior to me trying to retrieve my truck. I would have reasoned and payed something, but BJ came up with an outrageous number. Unfortunately, there were signs I ignored in the beginning that showed I wasn't welcomed there, but I guess he knew he had plans to scam money from me. Apparently someone at…read moreTire Barn thought it would be funny to take the specialty wheel lock lug nuts, but only 2 of the 4 to 150psi impact wrench tight. The rest were on as tight as expected. Just glad that he wasn't dealing with that on the side of the road as he would have never gotten it off by hand. I've had better service in the past, but this would have been dangerous on the side of the road. Had to replace the whole set of lock lug nuts from the damage inflicted on one of them just adding cost that was totally unecessary.
