I have been going back to Black Bear Diner for the last couple of years after a bad experience. I must say that I have not received another bad experience over the last couple of years. My server every Saturday has been Ella, and she has been great. The staff is very friendly, polite, and helpful. The food has been great, and three of my favorites are the Grizz , Joe's Hobo Omelet, or Bruce's Meat Lover's Omelet. But do not get me wrong because the other dishes are great as well. The restaurant is clean with a great family atmosphere, and the restroom are always clean. I will continue going to Black Bear Diner for the great experience and breakfast. read more

Really great food today! I had the corned beef hash, it's one of the only places I can get it where it's made fresh and not from a can. Biscuits were fresh and yummy. We came here for lunch a couple weeks ago so I don't recall our servers name but she was amazing. We were seated right away and I ordered the "little meatloaf" and my husband had the crispy chicken Cobb but with grilled chicken instead. The servings are massive! The salad was great and fresh and the meatloaf was so delicious. It had nicely crunchy veggies in it and the flavor was incredibly good and it wasn't cover in ketchup (which I dislike). The mashed potatoes were a big hit. My side salad was fresh and tasty. We've never had a bad meal here and often split a plate. read more

Fantastic! We came in a little late and the front staff seemed a bit frazzled but pulled it together when we asked to be seated.. we decided to split a dinner and picked the fried chicken. The chicken was fried perfectly- hot, moist, and juicy. Plenty enough for the both of us. He got a side salad, I had the corn of the cob with garlic parmesan (not my favorite) and we shared the cornbread and it was wonderful!!! I asked my son where he wanted to go for a date with Mom and he choose Black Bear Diner. We have eaten at Black Bear before, but not in Moore, OK. It was Valentine's Day Eve and we hopped up to the breakfast bar for a different experience. He ordered the waffle and I ordered salmon. Black Bear has GREAT breakfast and of all the things we've eaten before, breakfast is consistently delicious. The salmon was just OK. I didn't have high expectations for it because after all, we weren't at a seafood restaurant. I just wanted something healthier and the calories for salmon was within my daily allotment. I had breakfast with my grandson and his two girls. The food was great and the service was lovely. The staff helped provide the kids with a coloring menu and crayons. I met my cousin for brunch and had the eggs Benedict. It came with hash browns or potatoes and I chose the potatoes. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the side fruit bowl was a nice touch. For a while we always went to the BBD near Tinker AFB. Once this location opened up, we wanted to check it out. It is just like any other BBD. But, the food is is. We enjoy being able to get breakfast food all day long. Sometimes you just have that craving. It is clean, and the staff is great. The food comes out looking great, great presentation. The taco salad is amazing! Same with the cheeseburger salad. This is a great location for a lunch break. The menu offers a wide array of options. read more

So I originally visited this place years ago and ordered a lunch sandwich meal and was not very impressed. Apparently, I should have just ordered their breakfast. WOW, their breakfast is phenomenal and HUGE! I have not had anything that I didn't love. I usually order the Grizz with all sausage links instead of the other meat, over easy eggs, grits, and chocolate chip pancakes. Sausage links are so yummy and big/juicy! Eggs are great! Grits are kind of runny, so they could do better than that. But the pancakes are huge and fluffy! Even the chocolate chips are massive! I also have eaten the blackberry stuffed French toast and it is delicious. The place is kind of expensive: $14 for a breakfast plate, but the portions are enough for 3 people, so it is worth it. It's also always packed on the weekends. Definitely get breakfast for dinner on a weeknight. read more

Not sure who owns this chain but based on decor, I would say if Bass Pro shop/Cabelas had a restaurant this was it. Had a cabin-ish feel, very busy, 20-30 min wait for 2 people. Server was very nice and present, food came out hot and delicious (Just needed a little more seasoning). Plenty of options to choose from here. I do plan on coming back to try other items on the menu. read more

Took my mother out to breakfast at the Black Bear Diner here in moore. Problem #1: The wait time was 20 minutes. We ended up waiting 40. They kept using that 20 minute wait time as a lie to other incoming customers. The wait time continued at the table. Problem #2: The waiting area was crammed Problem #3: they seated us near the kitchen which is filthy. The cooridor to the kitchen has torn carpet has old food splattered and cemented in it. The food was alright. I had the chorizo burrito. The fruit it was served with was warm and mostly cantaloupe. We came in during a small rush, I'm also a food service worker, I know how that is. However, it was one bad experience after another. The waitress was running around so fast and scatterbrained it was hard to even talk to her. My husbands coffee came out wrong. We ordered as soon as asked the first time but didn't get our food until 45 mins after being seated. Everyone around us that had sat after us had already gotten their food well before us, even someone that ordered a steak. I ordered the tropical tacos and he ordered the grizz. Mine was missing the bowl of fruit and the salsa was on a bed of cole slaw. After asking a different waitress, she informed us that was incorrect and fixed it. She was very nice. Halfway through our meal my husband noticed the plate with his pancakes had egg and cheese all over it. He hadn't touched it yet, it was dirty from a previous customer. Definitely visible and should have been caught by the kitchen and our waitress who ran our food. Manager offered a free dessert but honestly after seeing how dirty that was it just wasn't appetizing anymore. Definitely recommend the one in del city over the Moore location. read more

Visit #1 - Went there with my wife for breakfast. I had the Eggs Benedict (not the authentic version as they used thin sliced ham in lieu of Canadian bacon). The poached eggs were excellent and the hash brown potatoes filled half the platter. My wife ordered the ham and eggs. The ham was thick and flavorful. The service was acceptable. However, we had to ask for spoons to stir our coffee creamers. We were promptly presented with soup spoons. We decided that maybe we should try their dinner options some evening. 4 stars. Visit #2 - Evening menu items / Took our granddaughters there with another friend for dinner. This was on a Saturday evening and as such they had prime rib available. I went for it. Ordered it medium-rare. It came to me medium-well. Five minutes later it returned medium and my side of Italian green beans were not with it. The meat was salty as if it was saturated with MSG. The green beans finally showed up and had that same MSG saltiness flavor. The mashed potatoes and cream gravy were sub-par, but I ate them anyhow. My wife's salmon was a bit dry as well. This is more like a chain restaurant that has lost it's passion. Cafeteria food would have been better. 2 stars. read more

Second time trying this place. The first time was just ok, as the turkey and dressing tasted more like a frozen microwave dinner than something from scratch. On this visit, the side dishes were good, but the chicken fried steak was obviously a frozen, pre-breaded "steak" from their food supplier and had the typical texture of the kind you'd buy from the grocery store (not good). The desserts were okay at best, with little flavor. The pies in the refrigerated/frozen section at the grocery store are just as good if not better. Saw this Diner close to the Mexican restaurant we frequent when in town. Went there for dinner with my brother and we tried the Chicken Fried Steak dinner. It was awesome. What was great about their menu you don't always find, is the offering of a smaller portion. With the full dinner, you got a soup/salad, AND two sides plus a 10 oz steak. The smaller dinner was 5 oz and two sides. I wasn't that hungry and got the smaller portion. My brother gave me a little of his and our portions were just right! Great sides, we tried the loaded grits (not always available) and the green beans with bacon/onions. Delicious. The next day we decided to go there for brunch before taking him to the airport for his flight. We both tried Joe's Hobo Omelette and loaded grits again with hashbrowns (great!). Got the biscuit (TALL!) with gravy. Fantastic breakfast, a LOT of food, had to take some with me to have for dinner later that night. Waiter for dinner and waitress for brunch were both awesome and attentive and attended to our requests perfectly. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. Now we still wait forever and the last two times we've been we were disappointed. Today they got our order wrong. So the waitress was to bring us two eggs that was to go with the breakfast. Wow! Bring your appetite when you get here! The servings are incredibly large and the taste was incredible. Too often, a patty melt can have a little greasy texture on the toast but this was perfectly done. Loved the red onions on it too, great job Black Bear!
