I would like to express how amazing my family's experience was last night when we dined at your restaurant. I have visited three times since the opening and I was not impressed. I had to wait forever to be seated then it took longer to get someone to serve us drinks. Staff yelling at each other through the kitchen window. It was a horrible experience. However, last night my family went and we were greeted immediately with a "welcome in family please have a seat". Then the waitress asked for our drinks right away. The waiter was a woman named Inez! She was very courteous and professional and treated all of us like we were her family. I highly recommend that Inez be awarded with an Employee of the Month award as she definitely deserves it! She returned to our table multiple times to to see if we were ok with everything we were served. She truly cared about getting our orders correct. She was an absolute angel and made our experience there one in which we will be back! Thank you again for not being good, but being great! First time here, had breakfast with the work crew before going to the job site. The staff is amazing, very kind, efficient, patient and professional. You really get the maximum bang for your buck here. The portions are outstanding. They're pancakes are the size of a large cast iron skillet and pretty thick. The waffles are about the same size. We recently moved to Arizona City and tried Black Bear diner for the first time. It was a nice experience. Our server was very nice, kept our drinks full and served our food as soon as it was ready. I love the Log Cabin feel, the wooden bear theme is adorable and I am from NorCal where Black Bear Diner originated. They had the most beautiful mini pies I know they are inside a truck stop, which some people might skip on but it's a nice Clean stop in Eloy. They have a mini gift shop too, with cute bear onesies, black bear items of all kinds! . I ordered a veggie omelet and added ham. Hubby got a scramble and both were good. Second trip to Black Bear for breakfast. First trip was a wow, this trip WOW WOW!! I had ham and eggs, southern potatoes with wheat toast. Thick piece of ham you had to use a knife to cut instead of thin ham slices like I've got before, the potatoes are the best!! Try the potatoes!! Ordered sweet tea, waitress said it's sweet she stuck her foot in it this morning!! The tea was perfect so I guess she's sweet too!! Keep up the good work and we'll keep coming back!! read more

This place surprised me. My bf and I were meeting someone who is a truck driver and we met up with him here. Service was okay. Food took a little long and we didn't get the side orders until we asked for it. (We were supposed to get it before the main meal) But that's tolerable. I ordered a chicken club sandwich and they were delicious! Ambience is not something you would expect from a restaurant that is at a gas station. Probably because this is a chain restaurant. Drove 45 min to enjoy lunch with my cousin I messed up with ordering my burger and owned up to that but apon getting my burger back my egg was fried not sunny side up so I went to say something to my waiter and she wait she was not gunna deal with it she got the manager after speaking to the manager the server decided to call me an asshole to another employee! First let me say, this place has only been open for 3 weeks and it is Mother's Day. Kinks are to be expected, as was a wait. My boys brought me here for breakfast. We were told the wait would be about an hour, and were prepared for that with the newness and holiday factored in. It was almost exactly an hour in when we were seated. A waitress got our drink orders as we browsed the menu. Amanda, our server took our food orders. I chose the traditional eggs Benedict, one son got top sirloin, another the Hobo omelette. Then, we waited. And waited. And waited. And ...... waited.... An hour and a half after ordering, we were getting antsy. If I hadn't wanted my eggs Benedict so bad, we would have walked out, like several others did. It took 2.5 hours after we were seated to receive our plates. I know this from the time stamps on the photos I took. Thankfully my breakfast was great. I told Amanda it was worth the wait, because I truly enjoyed it. I have never in my life been to a more mis-managed restaurant. I understand rushes and long waits, but this was beyond horrible from a service perspective. I felt bad for the staff, the servers were taking a hit and you could see it on their faces. Take out and online orders should have been stopped. People should have been turned away so that the kitchen could catch up. After the meal, the bill was a bit shocking. Amanda took my OJ off the tab. Gee, thanks. $70 bucks for a four hour experience, most of it spent waiting. I am less than impressed. If we had been warned that it would be a long wait for our food too, we might have gone elsewhere. I might go back after they have been open for 9-12 months. No promises. read more

Substitutions including paying the difference in price for items are not permitted here. I requested to substitute pancakes for French Toast and was told by the waitress "It's not allowed here because management realized that people are figuring out how to go with the cheaper options"... I even asked if I could just have 1 French toast in place of three pancakes that come with the Volcano meal, and was told no. I then simply ordered creamy grits with cheese and a side of sausage. The grits had so many clumps and was not creamy at all. This location was such a disappointment compared to other Black Bear Dinner locations in Arizona. I'll stick with"Tags" or "IHOP". No point in traveling out of town for a mediocre breakfast or service. read more

I don't usually write reviews but my server Inez was so good and attentive to my wife and I that I will take the time out of my day to write this review. She was amazing to start we sat at the bar where she came immediately to see what we wanted to drink, despite her working multiple tables and being very busy she was so attentive to us. We are truck drivers and also dine in at a lot of black bears around the states, this experience was by far the best. She made sure our order came out exactly how we wanted. Wow, I love this place took a break from driving on the road towards Florida and this was such a relief. The steak was phenomenal with the mashed potatoes, fruit and salad with blue cheese. 2nd visit to see if they had worked out the kinks to just opening and to see if they had addressed the seating issue for those waiting to be seated, they had not Ok parking and staff remain the same 5 star. Plenty of parking and staff are friendly and attentive Here is what I am disappointed in: Spouse and I both had the 2+2+2 which are 2 eggs, 2 pancakes and 2 bacon strips which is advertised on the entrance to the building, big bold sign. There was a 30+ minute wait when we walked in at 9:30AM so we elected to sit at the counter with no wait, fine no problem. Ordered and waited 43 minutes for our breakfast. While our last meal was great this time the eggs were way over cooked, bacon was half well done and half raw and they pancakes were very dense and cake like which made them dry. Almost as if they had not been cooked enough. Make sure you have plenty of water and/or coffee to help them get down Our waiter had no idea about the special and we had to have the price corrected at the register which was no problem. I love a brand-new restaurant! Everything is so clean and shiny! Excellent service from Scott with lots of support staff. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner all day. We opted for a burger and a tri tip dip sandwich. Everything was great. They are good with special orders too. The Hubbs got a medium-rare burger with everything on the side. I had my tri tip as a deluxe (cheese, onions and mushrooms). Love the huckleberry lemonade. We were way too full to they one of the desserts but we will be back. The only room for improvement would be to get those fries a little more crispy. Glad they are here. read more

Service was extremely slow which in itself I could overlook. However the eggs Benedict was not what I am accustomed to. Stingy with the hollandaise, ham was extremely salty, hash browns were not normal, and fruit cup was not ripe. Overall, not a good experience. read more

Had a great dinner at the Black Bear Diner in Eloy. I wanted to eat something light and our server, Monette, suggested the Ceasar Salad with grilled chicken. It was really good. The dressing wasn't too heavy and the chicken had a great flavor. Monette was very attentive. Truck stop diners aren't always the best. But Black Bear was beyond our expectations. She yelled out loudly to the other table and left us without an excuse me, sorry, or any explanation. Our grandson spilled his drink and I got up to let Ana know. I told her. I was just new to Arizona City and my neighbor recommended this diner The slowest service EVER THEN 20 mins for menu and another 20 minutes for service and another 35 mins for food and after all that the food was cold AND NOT WHAT WE HAD ORDERED AND THEN NO REFILLS ON COFFEE AND THE WAITRESS THAT WAS ALSO THE HOSTESS WAS NOT FRIENDLY AT ALL AND THIS WAS WITH ONLY 3 tables occupied and 1 Customer at counter The restaurant was clean and although it wasn't what we ordered it was good Need more staff and more friendly and welcoming read more

Husband and I were at the diner at 11am on 2/1/25, ordered a couple of sandwiches and waited. At 11:30 we asked a waitress to please check on our order. We noticed two other customers that came in at separate times were served their food. That was enough for us. I sure wish we would've checked out Yelp before we wasted an hour out of our day. Also, what we noticed is that the restaurant was dirty. Then observing a waitress wiping the tables by throwing the dirt on the floor. we had the fish fry on Friday, brunch on Saturday. not impressed by the food or service. extremely well done burger, waffle that tasted like pancakes. over breaded fish. somewhat tasteless. bacon so overdone it would break if you tried to bite it. Short amount of staff made the waiting time to order, get your food, eat it and wait even more to get a check. Give yourself an hour to an hour and half minimum. I was excited to eat here as I'd heard nothing but good things about Black Bear diners. The menu tells their story, pretty cool expansion from 1 diner to 160-ish. Unfortunately, aside from the nice servers it was a terrible experience. They were out of many ingredients- bacon, ham, sausage, peppers, spinach, the list goes on. Apparently the food order was wrong. So we figured out what we could order and made it work. I ordered the sourdough melt, medium with well done French fries. What I got was the kids patty, charbroiled to the point it was inedible and undercooked French fries, lukewarm temperature. My fiancé ordered the burger medium rare and got it well done. Our friend ordered the burger medium with well done fries and brown gravy. He got the same undercooked fries and well done. No gravy. Asked for it again and it never came. The servers were embarrassed, told us that they are getting so many complaints that the managers don't even show up anymore. This is not boding well for the Black Bear name and reputation. I can't remember the last time I was served a meal that I couldn't eat. I hope the management starts paying attention and improves this place. It's bad. read more
