This location is conveniently located right off the freeway in a string of shopping centers sharing a long parking lot. The desserts are beautifully displayed near the host stand to tempt you. It's pretty effective. I ordered the big breakfast where you pick your protein and your treat. I ordered my eggs fried over-hard crispy and they were prepared properly. I ordered ham steak and it was a bit smaller than I expected. I tried the biscuits and gravy and I wasn't prepared for how big the biscuits are. Those things were gigantic. To me the biscuits were just okay and entirely too much to try to finish. The sweet tea is super sweet here. I had to change my order to half sweet/half unsweetened. My kiddo and I stopped in to this place for a late dinner this evening. We had a very good time at this bear themed diner. First of all, the go kinda hard for the bear puns, bear theming, and the bear decor. If you find such things unbearable (pun VERY intended), then be forewarned. Personally, I find it charming. After ordering from a fun newspaper style menu, we were given a free pancake as an appetizer. Very good. If you are a soda drinker, these guys have Pepsi, not Coca-Cola if that matters to you. (Try Starry, it's incredible). My kid ordered a breakfast plate and I wanted to try the chicken fried steak. Her breakfast plate was massive. Eggs, breakfast potatoes, all the breakfast meats. And it came with a plate of French toast. 6 full size slices of French toast. My CFS came out a minute or so later and it, too, was generously portioned. The provide a steak knife, but there's really no need for it. It is incredibly tender and cuts fine with just the fork. Mashed potato was amazing as well and I also asked for a side of onion rings. Normally I don't care for breaded onion rings, i prefer battered. But this was the first time I ever remember enjoying breaded onion rings. I'd also point out our server, i belive she said her name was Jayme, and she was fantastic. Attentive, accommodating, and very friendly. If you're here when she's on shift, you'll be treated very well, as we're we. Overall, i give this fun bear themed diner a strong recommend. This place has steadily went down hill. I have been back several times since my first review, each visit a little more disappointing with service and quality. Today was the absolute last time we will eat here. The waitress we had this morning clearly didn't feel like being at work. It was 7:30 on a Saturday morning and they only had maybe six tables. We placed our order and watched as our food set on the counter to be taken out for well over ten minutes. I then seen her walk over and take a different table their food, even though ours had been there longer. She comes back, takes the food off the counter, walks to the back with syrup. She is gone so long a different waitress put the food back on the counter. She finally brings out our food and walks off. We had waffles and French toast. We asked for sugar free syrup. We didn't get the syrup or butter. The food was lukewarm at best. I took one bite and flagged a different waitress down, the only one who seemed to be working instead of standing around chatting. I told her the situation and she said she would pass it along to the manager. We didn't even attempt to eat the food. If there was a manager in fact on duty, they should be ashamed of themselves because we never seen him at all. read more

My friend from Church wanted to meet here for our Bible Study. She loves this place! I can see why. This is such a cute diner. Its decorated with Stuff Animal Bear Cubs through out the Restaurant.They serve breakfast all day. It's a cute cozy feel. The Restrooms are clean. The service is excellent. They have a jukebox and Bear Cub merch in the store. We received a a complimentary Pancake while we waited for our order. The Pancake was large in size. It was crispy and fluffy dusted with Powdered Sugar on top. We had a New Hire for a Waitress. She rocked cute Pink Space Buns. She was really nice and explained the Menu as best as she could. She filled our drinks just at the right time. She told my friend she could have Berries on her Pancakes. However, the Manager came to our table and told us that Berries were an LTO. Limited time only so, she offered her a substitution. The manager was nice about and very professional about it Overall, the atmosphere is great and so, is the service. I have visited three times for their burger. The burger backet is only $10 and it is fantastic. Jolie waited on me this last time and did a great job!! The restaurant was clean, charming and it has a multigenerational feel to it. This restaurant has exceptional branding. We were immediately seated and our waitress promptly came over to greet us. Our waitress (Shannon) was fantastic! She was welcoming and accommodating. DH ordered cinnamon roll French toast with house made Italian patty sausages (hot) and scrambled eggs. He said all his food was really good. He enjoyed the sausage and it had just the right amount of kick to it. My friend wanted to meet at the Black Bear diner for dinner. I had kept meaning to try it out but hadn't made it yet. I am so glad that my friend recommended it. It has such a cute vibe and I felt like I was at a cabin in CA. When we got to the diner, we were seated immediately, even though one person from our party hadn't made it yet. Our waitress was amazing. She brought us waters and started answering questions about the menu and when my friend got there, she answered even more questions and helped guide me to breakfast. I loved it! I got an omelet with mushrooms and avocado, I also had potatoes and one of their huge pancakes. My kid got pancakes and beef tips and ate all of it. My kid and friend decided to get dessert and we found out it is not for the weak. It was a whole little pie. My kid ate about half and I helped, it was yummy but we still had to take some home, and you totally get a lot of goodness for the price. So, I took my mother to the Black Bear Diner for breakfast. This was her first time dining there. We were greeted and seated shortly after our arrival. Our server was very friendly and attentive. She took our order, delivered our meal, continuously checked on us and refilled our drinks as requested. My mother ordered the "Volcano" and I ordered the "Grizz". When I say the kitchen staff really delivers; our food was delivered hot and fast. Just before leaving, a kitchen staff member approached our table and asked how the food was. Our meals were delicious and hearty with large portions, enough to take home. I almost forgot to mention the restaurant and the restroom was clean. The manager was approachable, attentive and ensured that my mother and I had a positive and rewarding experience. We were seated promptly and with a smile, at a table fully stocked with all the condiments you might need for breakfast and lunch. Their paper menus unfold out like a newspaper - that's a cozy touch that reminds me of having breakfast at home, growing up. Our server Alyssa was friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt. The food is not out of this world - it is standard breakfast fare, and frankly, my scrambled eggs were a bit dry. The biscuit that came with my meal was impressive in size, but a bit doughy in the center. My companion enjoyed his omelette, but said the hash browns were a bit well done. LOTS of the mealtimes have 10-20 minute waits, with a few seatings in the entry/exit foyer. Light crowd noise, but enough room to move as needed in/out/clean restrooms. When this Diner first opened, it was great. We went back several times, and each time it got worse. The once perfect biscuits are now nearly burnt and can't even be cut with a knife. The once fluffy eggs are either scorched or cold and 'folded' instead of scrambled. The Bruce's Meat Lovers Omelets had very little meat, mostly burnt bacon. We had great service by Dorinda the first few times. She is gone now, and we generally get average to below average service. Once, we had extremely poor service and said we wouldn't go back -but we gave them another chance. I wish we hadn't. The service was OK, but the food is no longer palatable. My only complaint is that their fresh OJ-making machine has been down for a couple of weeks (as of 3-14-25). Decided to give Black Bear a second chance. Huge mistake. Before ordering drinks we are told they are out of bacon. There is bacon on most meals they serve and many of the sandwiches. The food we did receive was really bad. Onion rings where they coated onion skin, a salad that was more dressing than lettuce, and a waffle that even my kid wouldn't eat. The only good thing about our visit was a nice waitress who should be looking for a new job. It is easy to see why the place was empty. Never again! read more

My wife and I have been too many Black Bear diners up and down the West Coast. They have been very good. We are originally from New Jersey, so we miss going to a diner. This is not a New Jersey diner, but It is still a decent diner. Unfortunately this is our first Texas Black Bear diner. it did not really live up to the standards we were used to on the West Coast. First of all, there was no orange juice. I'm not sure I have ever been to a diner that did not have orange juice. My wife ordered grits and they certainly were not edible. it was mostly water. It probably needed another 10 minutes on the stove. Our waitress was very good and very nice. My wife made several substitutions and changes to her order, and they all came out exactly as she requested. read more
