The staff here is very friendly and professional. Valerie in the front office is amazing... She is on top of everything and what a worker friendly and informative about anything you need to know about the park and its surroundings... Covid I had a seasonal site booked for 2020 but cancelled due to covid. I was very nervous traveling from Vermont. They would NOT refund or give me CREDIT toward another stay. Mind you 500.00 given to them when I NEVER set foot on property with my camper. Contract or not this was Covid. Shame on them, seeing I am sure they got government fundings to recooupe there losses. We had made 3 reservations here, big mistake! We went to go check out campground. The owner was screaming at us, the moment we pulled in. Stating we can't park in her spots, we asked her very politely we're we could park.She just keep screaming she was the owner and we should move know. Ugh... more like a trailer park than a campground. The front desk staff was pleasant, professional and courteous, but the campground itself is nothing to be desired. I went tent camping with my fiancee and friend, only to discover that their tent sites are exceptionally tiny and immediately adjacent to other tent campers, so, you get ZERO privacy, or quiet. Unfortunately our site was next to a loud, obnoxious and rude drunk. The pool.. OMG.. WTF is that thing?? Looks more like a fricken sludge pond kiddie pool for midgets.... Nice field for volleyball though, although we didn't play.. was just nice to walk on grass. It cost us $45 for one night for the three of us, and you would think at this price that you wouldn't have to pay 50 cents for a 5 minute freezing cold shower with little to no water pressure.. read more

Buyer beware! The contract they have you look at is not the same as the one you sign. We paid for a seasonal site $3100. Had to cancel the next day because the person that was going to take our dogs went into quarantine and his house mates didnt want additional pets during this time. We called to cancel the next day. The contract they gave us to look over was not the one we signed. They switched it. There was no "no refund" policy on the one they gave us originally. When we couldn't get our money back we said we'd use the site. We tried to enter but a crazy white haired lady came out and started screaming at us to leave or she'd call the cops. Horrible camping experience! Do not stay here! We were booked to stay 4 days, and two of the 4 days they had people in there with chainsaws and dump trucks starting at 7:30 in the morning, and pretty much stayed there all day, to do some tree removal. We were never notified this was going to happen and quite frankly the owners should have never booked people those days if they're doing extremely loud maintenance all day. They started both days before the quiet time, so clearly the owners don't even keep their own policies. I called to speak with the manager and they never called me back. They clearly could care less about their campers and just want your money. It was so obnoxious that we ended up leaving a day early. There are many other campsites to choose from, do yourself a favor and book somewhere else! read more

Ok so the good, the bad and the alright. We spent 2.5 months here this summer. I was nervous before we came up from The Carolinas because the reviews were, well, less than encouraging. We arrived in June and got placed in the back"seasonal" area of the campground which admittedly made me even more nervous because it was darker, quieter and I was staying solo with the kids. The bad - initially our camper got overrun with carpenter ants (this is a very wooded campsite) and dealing with that was stressful. I eventually found an exterminator to fog the camper (while we stayed in our tent and then a hotel) and the camp owners removed a dead tree to disperse the colony. After about 2 weeks the ants were a distant memory, annoying but camping in the woods - stuff like that is going to be relatively uncontrollable. The catapillers were also a force to be reckoned with, but again - not really under anyone's control. I certainly didn't want to camp on a parking lot so ying/yang. The other bummer - wifi is a waste of time. We bought our own wifi box from AT&T because there was no way to use the campsite wifi. It is pretty much something every single person complains about in regards to staying here. The alright - the pool is older but clean and totally fine for what we needed, an occasional hour here and there. The playground is extensive but again, my kids are older so we didn't worry too much about that. Although had they been littler it would have been aces. The playroom is mediocre, not awful but not somewhere we wanted to hang out in. Probably saved me a fortune in reality. The good. This is a super safe, super nice, clean friendly family campground. We never felt nervous or worried the entire time we have been here. The laundry room is just fine and the change machine has never ran out of quarters, the shower blocks are what we considered typical for an Independent campground (this is not a KOA but doesn't charge KOA prices either soooo) and totally adequate for what we needed, an occasional shower outside of our travel trailer or an extra bathroom because we only have one inside the TT. The beaches are within a 10-20 minute drive when there is no traffic. We were also conveniently close to Walmart and big box shopping, several other little towns and the highway. The lots are not huge but they are more than adequate for what we needed and they are woody so you actually feel like you are camping. Our trailer is only 17 feet long but it could easily have taken one double that length and the car. The office staff are superbly friendly and helpful. Overall, our time here has been a great experience. Its been a long summer but the campsite is not something we could complain about. I wouldn't hesitate to return here if our travels warranted. read more

We stayed 2 Nights here on a woodmulch site. The 50 amp service kept cutting out and we had to reset time and time again. The same thing happened to our neighbor as well as another big class A coach that was in a different area, and different electrical distribution center. We decided to run only one a/c unit at a time. the owners were aware of the problem but they blamed it on the power company....not true!...They still charged all 3 campers that we spoke to the same amount of money even though the Coach had a generator and used it, they were insensitive to our lack of power and the breakers tripping! We would not go back as any owner would have visited each camper and at least made an apology. I work for a major airline and this place has no customer service policy in place....nothing! sad, because it is family owned and we love to support family owned businesses read more

Well where do I start. Cable, our site had absolutely no cable signal, we physically went down to the office where they said "Yep, we will send someone down soon to fix it". Two hours later, nothing. Then we decided to call, and once again. "Yep they are on their way". The next day nobody showed up. We literally had to tap into the people next to us. AND the people next to us said the people that were here before us had been tapped into them too. Next the SMELL: About every 5 minutes a horrendous smell of sewage overflows the camp. Its absolutely disgusting. We cant even eat outside without wanting to throw up. The level: When we pulled in it took us about a hour and a half to level the camper because the sites are so uneven. Also the arcade has maybe at best 40% of its games on/working. And the every game in there is about 20 years old. And the pool opens at noon. If you wanted to go and have a fun vacation, maybe go swim they have to basically wait till after lunch to go. Finally: No empathy for the lack of costumer service. I don't recommend spending $174+ for 3 nights where u mostly have to stay in ur RV/tent because you are being chased out by the smell. 10/10 don't recommend. Today was our first and last time visiting this campground. When we arrived at our site we found that the folks directly across from us were playing loud (beyond acceptable) explicit music. I'm no prude, but I do have a three year old and an infant so I was less than thrilled with this. As my husband and I were setting up our tent we realized that there were also quite a few people smoking cigarettes in the vicinity. Gross. We decided to head to the pool and make the best of things. The pools were so disappointing. Filled with adults who were intoxicated, one man approached my husband and nearly fell into him because he was so drunk. Another woman yelled at an older child in the pool for swimming too close to her. Not so family friendly. In fact, for a campground that touted itself as a family friendly space, there were very few families with small children. Boom boxes were playing loud music at the pool, and smoking...again. When we got back to our site we started to prepare for dinner when a screaming match broke out between two men at another site. Loud, profanities and lots of aggression. After about 15 minutes of that we decided that this was definitely not our scene. We stopped by the office to inform them and the women responded by saying "That doesn't sound like us" and declined a refund. Based on the rest of these reviews, it sounds exactly like them. read more

My wife and I had a camping experience at Black Bear at Salisbury Beach that was like no other. We have been camping for over 30 years and nothing has come close to this. It all started with the power it just kept going out and you had to call the office to turn on the breaker because your spot doesn't have one. 5 times in one day, and it was a 90 degree day that was very humid. The next day it went out at around 3:00 and they didn't turn it back on until 8:30 the next morning. We found out that only half of the park was shut down and we asked if we could move to a different spot and they said that was ok so we went to look at it, and the owners son was there in golf cart waiting for us. He tells us if you move to this spot you will have the same problems with the power going out because it's on the same power line, well that didn't make any sense to move there. He then went on and said the problem was National Grid taking there power and sending it to Boston and if your not happy here then just leave because this happens every year. What Great customer service. His story maybe working for him I don't know, but it's because they need upgrade there service and they don't want to spend the money. We won't be going back there. We gave it 1 star because of the location. read more

We will never go back to Black Bear! We camped for 2 nights in our Class A. The pull thru was shaded and okay. But, the front desk was downright rude! We were on our way to ME and stopped to visit my nephew as his son was on leave from the military. They came to pick us up for dinner and we're not a allowed to enter unless they paid $40. My husband went to office to see if they could just come in for a few minutes as they wanted to see our motor home and girl at the desk became rude and on the defensive. We were only asking as my nephew's son was heading back to base on the train in a few hours. I went down to talk to the manager the next day and they stood by their charges. I find this excessive and downright mean and unpatriotic! That same day we were without power, which they attributed to a "rolling blackout". Whatever that is.... This campground is privately owned, so if you do decide to go keep that in mind. They can do whatever they please. Stick with Good Sam or a KOA. read more

I camped here this past weekend for 2 nights 2 days. I like this camp because we had a pretty privet spot in the back on the grounds. We had pretty good weather so that helped but we were near some wetlands so I think it could get buggy at certain times of the year. The grounds are mostly set up for campers but they have about 20 tenting sites. The tent sites have wood chips down on the ground so it helps to keep you from sleeping on the hard ground. Its secluded yet near a lot of stores for supplies and fun. At night you can hear the highway but it is not overpowering. The frogs and crickets are louder. :-) They don't have a lake but do have a smaller pool. There were plenty of friendly campers here and looked like all the kids were enjoying their time here. They have a nice playground and the bathrooms were clean. If you want to ruff it, pass on this place, but for a nice family friendly place with all the amenity's if needed, this is your place. We've stayed at this campground before and not a lot has changed. We asked for a satellite-friendly site, but that's almost impossible when the facility is as wooded as this one. We had a good-sized back-in site, since the pull-thru spots are pretty narrow. Power was awful, with voltage dropping on one leg to the point where our EMS dropped out, until I added our booster transformer. It wasn't like we were trying to run 3 roof air conditioners; the voltage dropped with just the electric water heater on. Cable TV was reasonably good but park Wi-Fi was essentially unusable. The owners and managers need to understand that making a substandard service free to avoid addressing complaints is a losing strategy these days. People want Wi-Fi to work reliably at reasonable speeds. Unfortunately for us, this is also a weak VZW location. Overall, we got about what we expected but didn't really get the value we wanted. read more

We won't be back. All the camp sites are on top of each other. There is no privacy at all. It looks like they jammed them all together to get as many people in as they can. We like the wooded camp sites with some distance between us and the other people. The playground had 5 separate structures. It looked like they just kept buying them and threw them in. I had read they have 2 pools but it turns out there were 2 pools of the same depths ranging from 3 feet to 5 feet. Usually if a place has 2 pools, 1 is a kiddie pool. It didn't make sense. There was no general store. They had firewood to buy and that was it. The firewood was very dry and didn't last long at all. read more

Had a great time here. We came as a group of 3 RV's with families. We had seen some negative reviews and were a little worried on our decision to camp here. Instead we found that this was exactly what we wanted. We had 3 pull thru sites near the back and between two of the rest rooms. Had wifi the whole time, bathrooms were clean and lots of hot water available. Able to run our air-conditioning as needed, and had full sewer and 47 channels on television. Could hear some noise from the thruway, but it was not obnoxious, didn't hear it above the noise on the campfire. Had plenty of room between campers and plenty of privacy. Although we were on pull thru's had plenty of shade from fur trees (and no sap issues). You don't want to be closer to the beach due to the marshes at low tide and mosquitos, We had no issues and would go back here again. Pools are small, but adequate. BTW, we almost had the pools to ourselves during the week and got to enjoy the shade under the umbrellas. read more

Horrible!!! Do not go!!! My family and I went to Blackbear to enjoy the Fourth of July this year. Unfortunately, it was not a fourth to remember. The restrooms were absolutely disgusting at all times. Not once was the hand soap refilled. The showers you paid for were usually freezing cold (which an employee stated there's a piping issue that has not been fixed for months). The pool was so gross my children didn't want to swim in it. The owners daughter flew through the campground on her go cart and was very rude. Customer service skills are terrible there. The reason why I even gave the campground one star is because there was one person at the front desk that was pleasant. read more

First of all let me start by saying if I could give this place a negative star rating I would. The only reason I stayed here in the first place was because I made the mistake of going on a busy weekend when all the other camp grounds were booked. The management here is in some serious need of customer service training to say the least. They were rude, testy, & unappreciative of our business just to name a few of their less than desirable qualities. The camp sites are way too close to each other meaning no privacy whatsoever. The arcade room seemed to be fun from the outside but when you go in all the machines are broken, out dated, & in terrible condition. The pool was surrounded by people who were smoking & had no respect for others. Even the company we had next to us were ill-mannered & nosey. I will end this by saying this was the worst experience I have had to date & that I made this account just so I could let people know before wasting their time & money on this place. read more
