My husband and I came here on our way home from dinner because I really wanted the spooky pizookie. BJ's is always a fun spot to get food at. Although it's a chain restaurant, I really like that they brew their own craft beer and have lots of food options on their menu. This restaurant was large and clean. When we arrived at 7pm on a Saturday it was busy, and there weren't any bar area seats available. We added our names to the wait list and were told it would be about 20 minutes. A few minutes later, a booth in the bar area opened up and we decided to grab it. Bailey was our waitress and was great! I ordered my spooky pizookie and my husband ordered some wings, and some cocktails. We waited a little while, maybe 20-30 minutes for our food to come out and eventually a manager, Gabby, came to apologize about the wait and comped our pizookie from the bill. I didn't think it was the bad of a wait, especially since it was Saturday night, but the gesture was appreciated. The spooky pizookie was EVERYTHING my heart and soul needed. So delicious. Really good experience! I'm not normally a fan of chains, but I had a great lunch here w/my cousin awhile back and thought, why not? :) Glad we came in on a Sunday afternoon. Sat at the bar and decided to try an app to share; got the sampler which was huge! The bartender went out of his way to be sure we could sub the beef sliders for chicken instead, which I appreciated. Also offered my hubby to sample 2 diff. beers since he had never tried their own brews, which was nice. He refilled my tea and checked on us often, the manager even stopped by to ask how things were. He was amazing because not only was he multitasking normal tables but was handling a birthday party as well. Our food came out really fast. My son and I were staying over the Desert Ridge JW Marriott and after a long day of swimming it was too late for many of the restaurants in the hotel plus everything at the hotel was so expensive. So we looked up spots in the Desert Ridge shopping center and BJs was still open and seemed decently priced compared to a couple of the other options. I hate the name but hey it had been a long time since i had been to one and it seemed the easiest since we were pretty tired. The place was packed but the dining area is really large so we were seated right away. We started looking through the menu to make our decision and there are so many options from apps to burgers and pizza -- probably other things but those are the items that caught my attention. The waiter came over right away to take our drink order --- I got a glass of Rose and my son got a chocolate milk, and two waters. It took a while for our drinks to come out so we were definitely ready to order when the waiter came back. I got a special "burrata pizza" personal size and my son got a bacon cheeseburger. It came out relatively quickly and the pizza was thick crust and actually pretty filling for basically two slices (that I cut into 4). My son was satisfied with his burger -- not the best he has ever had but did the trick. I do love that they have QR codes on each table so you can pay and bounce quickly -- which is exactly what we did! My sister was in town for her birthday, and for a casual, fun dinner, my family met up at BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse at Desert Ridge. My father visits this location weekly, and every now and then, I'd join him for happy hour or dinner. We had a group of five of us at dinner this past Sunday. We all enjoyed tasty food including a birthday treat and good service. We had a great server (Brenda) who kept checking on us, answering questions, and when one of us randomly got an entree literally ten minutes before everyone else, she took it back to ensure we all got our meals around the same time. I came to BJs with my family for my son's 5th birthday. I had not been here in a long time, I wanted to give them another try. I know the pizookie is a fan favorite. My son loves strawberries so I knew their strawberry shortcake would be his birthday dessert. We started with avocado eggs rolls, fried couscous mac and cheese balls and I ordered a starter caesar salad. I was a little turned off by the brown avocado in the egg rolls. They did not taste fresh. The mac and cheese balls were a hit. We enjoyed them. My lettuce in my salad wasn't very fresh either so I didn't end up eating much of it. For dinner, I ordered their atlantic salmon. I did enjoy this meal but the broccoli could use some seasoning. My husband got their slow roasted tri tip beef dip sandwich. He was not impressed, the bread was very soggy, his horseradish was missing and there were fries floating in his au jus. My oldest son ordered their classic rib eye. He is a steak lover but he kept saying there are a lot of chewy parts... meaning there was a lot of fat on the steak. The fries were good. My youngest son enjoyed his corn dogs and fries. For my son's birthday dessert we chose the strawberry shortcake pizookie. This was really yummy. We all liked it. Our server was kind and attentive. She did apologize about the long wait time for our food to come out. My salmon came out first even though I ordered after everyone else did. My kids were very hungry, the long wait time was hard for them. The manager did take off some menu items off our bill which we appreciated, thank you. Lunch at BJ's after a baseball game turned out to be the perfect post-game spot. It was a laid-back spot to relax with friends, and we all ended up ordering the BJ's Brewhouse Bowl, which was definitely the right call. I went with shrimp, while my friends chose chicken, and every version at the table was a hit. The bowl is loaded with roasted cauliflower, quinoa, brown rice, black beans, corn, red pepper succotash, cucumber, pickled red onions, feta, guacamole, and Greek yogurt. It's one of those meals where every bite has a mix of textures and flavors, and somehow it all just works. Filling and delicious, we all pretty much cleaned our plates. Another friend switched things up and ordered the bone-in wings with BJ's Peppered BBQ sauce, and she was just as happy with her choice. It is always fresh and we enjoy it very much. The Prime Rib was excellent. Cooked to perfection, tender and very little fat, so he was really happy! My salad was fresh and served with plenty of tender sirloin. One of my favorite "go to" meals. I have been to BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse many times over the years. Mostly in Houston. This was my first time visiting this location in Phoenix. I stopped by on a Tuesday for dinner. They share a parking lot with a lot of other businesses including other restaurants, bars, and stores. While the parking lot was busy, I was able to find a spot a ways down. Service (5/5): On this visit, I had the best service I've experienced. I wish I remembered our waiter's name as he did a fantastic job. He was friendly, efficient, knowledgeable, and consistent. Pretty much everything you would want in a waiter. A bit surprising as this isn't fine dining. He's just excellent at his job. Ambiance (3.5/5): We sat at a hightop in the bar area. Pretty much your standard BJ's. A spacious restaurant that is broken down between a bar area and a sit-down area. It's a modern-looking restaurant and well-lit. Comfortable for a meal. Drinks (3.5/5): One of the things BJ's is known for is its beer brewed in-house (there's a nice selection). They also have a nice selection of cocktails. On this visit, I had a strawberry lemonade. It was delicious. Though a little overpriced for a non-alcoholic beverage. Food (4/5): BJ's has a huge menu. I'm talking one that closely resembles The Cheesecake Factory. It can lead to a paradox of choice. I've been here so many times that I know my way around the menu. I went with my favorite dish: the parmesan-crusted chicken which is served with a delectable sauce, sun-dried tomatoes, mashed potatoes, and broccoli. I'm not a fan of broccoli so I replaced it with fries. It's a generous portion. You get two thin but large filets of chicken. And a generous heap of fries and a scoop of mashed potatoes. I took some of it home. A bit over-priced for a chain restaurant but it's a goodie. Another thing I like about BJ's is that they have daily specials and a great happy hour/reverse happy hour. They're also known for their Pizookie's (warm skillet chocolate chip cookies served with various additions and ice cream). If you're part of their rewards program, you will get a free on during your birthday month. All in all, BJ's is one of my favorite chain restaurants. read more

The restaurant looked inviting and clean and seating was fast and comfortable. Then things went downhill. After waiting a long time the waitress, she finally came to my table saying, "No one told me to take care of you" and she apologized. I ordered their broccoli cheddar soup and a cheeseburger with fries. I'll get to the point. The food was good but everything was unreasonably cold!! Not even warm. The waitress never checked on me so I just finished my meal. The broccoli cheddar soup was very tasty and very disappointing being so cold. The burger was good, cooked right, and cold. The fries were over-seasoned and cold. The waitress had a nice personality and that upped my rating. I appreciated her assistance but wish she had checked on my meal. The pizookies also were a MINI, when we were thinking they were personal sized, because that's what was advertised. Met the 'kids' and grandkid there for dinner on a Thursday evening. The waitress mentioned thier daily specials and one was half or whole rack of ribs. I opted for the whole rack as I could take leftovers home. The special comes with two sides, and I ordered Asparagus and Chile. IMHO forget the Aparagus, BUT not only was the chile good, it was almost enought to be a meal in itself! The ribs were VERY good and I have a smoker and do ribs myself. Before I update my Google and Yelp reviews Hello, I am writing to share a concern about an experience I had at your restaurant last Monday. My husband, my MIL, and I have been loyal customers for over six years, having lunch every Monday. We have always enjoyed both the food and the service, which is why this situation stood out so firmly to me. When I arrived, I requested to be seated in Candace's section, as I have done about 100 plus times in the past. Right away, I was told, "The section is full unless you want to sit there at the high top." I explained to the hostess, Sue, that I could not sit at a high-top table because my elderly mother-in-law is unable to have her legs dangling comfortably. Sue responded that Candice's section was complete and offered no alternative. When I asked if we could wait, I was told in a rude and condescending tone that the section was full. At that point, there were several guests behind me, and we all looked at each other in disbelief at how the situation was handled. She couldn't care less that I was left standing there shocked. Was she having a bad day? Possibly. Was she annoyed that Candice has so many regulars? Could be. Whatever the reason it was wrong and I am quite annoyed by it. What was most upsetting was that I was left standing at the hostess stand for approximately six to seven minutes while Sue walked another couple to their table and did not return. Another staff member attempted to assist us during that time, but Sue then approached while that person was trying to help, seeming annoyed. I have never experienced this level of rudeness at your restaurant before, and it was both disappointing and uncomfortable. This visit left me feeling unwelcome, which is not something I have ever felt here previously, and it honestly made me question whether I want to return. I wanted to bring this to your attention directly in hopes that it can be addressed, as I genuinely value your restaurant and would like to continue dining there with the same positive experiences I've had in the past. We went on a Monday for their happy hour specials. We were seated immediately and our waiter was very sweet. The happy hour is only at the bar but she accommodated us. The happy hour menu is not very clear and very confusing. We went with some drafts and margarita. I felt margarita was a little too sweet for my taste. For appetizers we went with nacho dips which were excellent, wings which I wouldn't recommend, it was kinda soggy. I've gone a couple of times, and it wasn't memorable... but it was when kids were younger and demanded more attention. We went recently again and I fell in love. Sitting on the patio, under an umbrella, while sipping a margarita flight, may have helped change my mind. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of alcohol in the margarita flight. So many times, these tour of flights are over sugary and diluted, but this was delicious. Everything each person ordered was so yummy that we passed all of our plates around to share.
