I'm removing a star because although it was happy hour -went there on a Thursday at 5pm- the prices for happy hour food-appetizers items are only honored if you sit at the tables closest to the bar- host(ess) does not mention it before sitting. My son liked his burger, which he got with blue cheese, with a side of mashed potatoes. The chicken in the parmigiana is a good portion. This spot is conveniently located on Highway 59 in Nanuet right by the Shops at Nanuet and nearby other stores. It's a good place to stop if you need a break from running errands . Or to leave your husband while you shop. There are lots of TVs and its really big. Everytime I've been here, its been mostly empty, especially compared to the Buffalo Wild Wings down the street (which also is never that crowded even for football). Service has always been fine, although I've seen a fair number of complaints in the reviews. Food: Listen, this is no Cheesecake Factory. Stop it BJs. You're not fooling anyone. The menu is really big like the Cheesecake Factory, but it lacks much in terms of creativity. No bang bang chicken or jerk black pepper shrimp to be found here. Just a lot of uninspired items with a bunch of equally uninspired variations. One of the things this place is known for (they are in fact a chain) is their deep dish pizza. Apparently, that's how they started out. I love a good Chicago deep dish, which is impossible to find around these parts and so we ordered it. First off, it was really expensive (around $33 maybe?) . And second, it was absolutely horrible. It tasted exactly like a frozen DiGiorno you can get on sale for $6 or $7 at the supermarket. I mean really awful. Do not order this if you have any respect for pizza or have an ounce of Italian blood in you. Other items we have gotten like avocado eggrolls are around on the level of an Applebee's or Friday's. However.... BJ's has two very important sources of redemption going for it. First, the pizookie. This is amazing. Shockingly so. Every time. Its like a huge hot melty deep dish cookie that comes in a variety of flavors with ice cream on top. It's delicious and sooo fun. Way better than a slab of cream cheese on a plate. Cheesecake Factory you lost this one. Also, BJs seems to know this and wants to throw you a pizookie at every turn. Enter your email address, get a pizookie. Complain your food took too long to come, get a pizookie. Say its your cousin's aunt's birthday who isn't there, get a pizookie. They know this thing is addicting and will bring you back. Second, the weekend prime rib deal. Idk what this is or where it came from. I ordered a regular ribeye here once and it was pretty bad. But this prime rib.....it's prettttty good. And I consider myself a prime rib connoisseur. I always ask for the rarest piece they have and guess what?... it comes out rare. I've had it three or four times and its always been consistent. This is no small accomplishment especially at a chain restaurant that can't even serve edible pizza. I will say its rather fatty but for the price its still a really good deal. It also comes with both a soup or salad, two sides, AND the pizookie for $36. It's a crazy deal. Again, idk what this is or where it came from but work this into your weekend plans, its worth it. didn't think we'd be back so soon! Went here on Tuesday June 17th 2025 with my parents-- since we had a great experience last time, we decided to come back. We were greeted by a host, and sat at a booth, and a longer one which was by the window. Server did greet us right away and started with waters. Unfortunately, it was a different server than last time, and I should have asked for pete, but nonetheless. Note 4-5 stars for this review. Our server, while very kind, at first was slow to refill our waters, and some of us was thirsty. We started with the pretyzl appetizer, which features a hanging pretylz! we did enjoy it. For entrees, My mom and dad ordered the unlimited soup and salad combo, and tried all the different soups offered, which were chicken tortila, and brocolli cheddar. I had a Strawberry Fields salad. One interesting thing is with this server, the salads for my parents meals came out first, and last time we all got our food together- including both the soup and salad. However, after getting a little mad-- the server improved and got better- and brought the food out at once. and refilled our waters too. he also made sure to check on us and the food, which i enjoyed. The food all came out, together and was very enjoyable. For dessert, we ordered the pizzozi again, and all of our food came with a mini one- and i had the triple chocolate with chocolate ice cream, my dad had a big one of those, with strawberry shortcake as the small one, and my mom got the strawberry one too. The manager came over and did offer a new steak and when I declined because I will not return food for obvious reasons and I was in a hurry, I was offered a free desert, no thank you. World-class dinner is not- but for 11pm on a Saturday when mostly everything had closed by 10, BJ's in Nanuet clinched a 4 star for us for their 'Late Night Eats' and tasty by the way. Housed in The Shops at Nanuet outside mall, BJ's will show you what late night bites are all about. They keep things interesting with a nice combination of appetizers, pizza, entrees, burgers, salads, desserts for all your hunger pangs- and of course, beer. The bar is spacious with at least 4 flatscreens to catch any game, from any angle. Unlike chopped up raw tuna elsewhere, BJ's sizable tuna tartare chunks+avocado appetizer served with 1/2 crispy wonton moons was the perfect amount for 2 people and full of flavor in an Asian sauce that made everything right. For a chain restaurant, that shit was good. I will also mention- BJ's moves away from preparing this appetizer in those well-known cylinder stacks and theirs is served in a bowl. Hubs enjoyed his plump Buffalo wings and crackly batter tossed in their sauce with sufficient heat and the right amount of sauce without making them soggy. Service from our waitress was down-to-earth and for almost midnight, she kept things lively but professional. My Lavender+Tito's Lemonade had a great herby taste- but missed on strength. Hubs was all over his well-dressed, mound of a salad with ahi tuna. I wanted to relive my Pizzeria Uno days and settled for a mini deep dish. It had a nice golden-y crust, was juicy, topped with cheese and chunky tomato sauce. Except, I would've wished for a straight-up tomato sauce without a heap of seasonings. It's not them, it's me. I really wanted to not write this, but I've been toying if I had wrote this what could have changed, I don't know. Went in Sunday around 5, my partner and I walked in, the host were disagreeing with each other on where to sit us, okay.... They placed us at the bar, I went to use to the washroom quickly. Come back and my partner said no one came over yet, odd as it wasn't packed, servers and staff were in the corner hanging out. Maybe it was a switch in staff at that time, but we did realize the one bartender so assumed okay just give them a second. Server walked over and just mumbled the whole time, okay maybe a long day for him give him the second to catch up, say hello, let the espresso kick in. Drinks, even the sodas, took forever. While staff is in the corner giggling around, with a quiet place...he came back with the drinks, we placed our order and hoped it wouldn't be too long. What really threw me off for the whole thing was while we waited, another guest sat in the same section I guess. This guest didn't have our patience (and it was awhile before he did this) but got up, and moved to a differnt section to be served. However, our server when placing our dinner was eyeing this guest who moved, weird right? Then afterwards conforts the guests as to why they moved?! Why on earth would anyone think that's okay? He never said anything wrong, he never said you sucked, he just moved, because like I've said the slow service was something else. Guest put him in his place but wow. We ate, but after that we were done and wanted to just leave. Wrapped what we had left over, which shame on me I had a hair in mine so nice. But my fault for just wanting to pick up and go. Reason why I was toying about writing this because at the end, he wanted us to write a review. So I should write a review on what I witness/think about service, to hit send and then you chase me down asking why did I write that? No thanks. This was a popular spot for an early dinner one Sunday. We didn't wait very long but when we left there was a longer wait. It's a nice space, with big menu and beer selection, and great service. I would like to add an update to my original review posted last week. We had a pretty bad experience at this location for dinner, and it wasnt handled well at the restaurant the night of, however I will say I am thoroughly impressed with how the upper management and corporate team followed up. The regional manager got in contact with me right away, discussed all of my concerns and had already jumped into action on many of the issues we experienced. I was impressed with their professionalism and have been assured all of our concerns will not only be addressed but that they are taking steps to fix the problems so that noone else experiences them as we did. Really disappointed. I just ordered a pizza and specifically told the server I had a mushroom allergy, which they mention to do on their menu as a precaution. So I did. I waited a long time for one pizza and as soon as it arrived I found a mushroom (and more). I told the server and he said "I put it on the ticket". Nice answer. How about the people preparing the food pay attention to the ticket!? The Manager came over and addressed me as "friend" telling me they are re-making it. I was also told this was made in the same prep station. Huh? If someone proactively tells a restaurant they have a food allergy (like they ask you to), someone should take notice. This is dangerous.
