Sent them back and by the time they re did them, we already had our meal. Waitress never offered to take them off the bill or get a manager. I'd give this place 0 stars if I could. When we got there, the woman who seats us never said hello. She just told us to follow her and then she put the menus down on a table and never told us it was our table..she just walked away. Our pizza and chicken parm took 40 minutes to come out. My husband and I came here to go watch the March madness games, have dinner, and a few drinks. We had so much fun! The bartenders there were extremely friendly and attentive. They had us laughing and we're very memorable. I had the eggplant parm hero which was very tasty and also came with fries that were incredible. My husband got the buffalo chicken pizza and that's normally a type of pizza I'm not really fond of. However this was delicious. The crust was outstanding, soft and hard with a nice bite. My favorite meal is eggplant parmesan. I live in Westchester County, but this is the best eggplant parm (that I know of) in a 20 mile radius. It's no longer on their menu (boohoo), but you can still find it frequently as their special (managers: please bring it back). If you like eggplant parmesan, you will not be disappointed. I've also had some pasta dishes there and my friend often gets their chicken dishes and they are always delicious. I went for lunch, I thought the house salad was mediocre at best (and I used to love it) and the pizza looks the same (thin crust) but tasted different. The service was almost unwelcoming. This is a staple restaurant and I know why. The food is great and it's a family style restaurant throughout the layout. There is a dining room area off the side and a more casual bar setup on the other side. It's literally like a cheers. The staff is very personable and you're treated like family. They have gluten free pizza options including a cauliflower crust which is delicious. The lobster rolls will make your eyes roll to the back of your head and the wings - OMG! It's great for family dinners, dates, groups of friends just hanging out. Trivia night is on Wednesdays. It's still a thing because it's all done digitally from your phone. I must admit that I always favored the shabby 1950's/1960's time capsule decor of the previous ownership that gave the place a warm and embracing bowling league/Water Buffalo decrepitude of Flinstones lore. But time marches on and a recent return visit revealed an exponential improvement in the state of things. No longer are the town drunks, their petrified livers and the restaurant's famous pizza responsible for the majority of daily revenue - Nanuet Restaurant now has an honest to goodness menu and actual high quality dishes that were consumed enthusiastically. Add to that a multiple of revamped 21st century dining areas and the old hometown stalwart really shines. I'll make it a point to not let twenty years elapse between visits. Wow...and I say that not in a good way. Growing up in Rockland, this place was a staple for my family for years. At a minimum we were here 2-3 times a month for take out or to eat in. Had not been back in years and had heard there were new owners and today figured we would give it a try and took out a pie and a salad. They did a nice job with the inside, upgrading/updating the decor though still keeping the feel of the old place. However the pizza which was by far the best has taken quite a turn for the worse. That thin, crispy yummy cheese pizza is no longer! The pizza was over cooked, the crust tasted like frozen pizza and overall completely lacked flavor. Hand me the salt and garlic powder...something we never needed in the "old days". So yes, 2 stars simply for the decor and for old time sake but so sad the pizza is nowhere near as good as it used to be. read more

So I never write reviews about this place only because I'm here all the time. And everything is fantastic. Of course, the pizza is the best around but last night I went to dinner with my friend Jean and I have not been able to eat like solid food because I needed a Crown so there was a special on the menu that was their 16 oz steak so I said I was going to get that period well, you don't need to go to a fancy, fancy. Fancy steakhouse where they're gonna charge you a $100. For a steak, you just need to go to Nanuet restaurant, it Was melt in your mouth, cooked perfectly and had the best flavor of a steak I think i've ever had. Overall *** My weighted grading system comes up with 3.17 Stars. It is the same owner as Bailey's and even my receipt says Bailey's Nanuet, I would not go out of my way to return here but I wouldn't necessarily avoid it either. I found the food (outside of the burger) very good as was the price point but the service was pretty bad particularly the constant DING, DING, DING from the kitchen but that is something that can easily be rectified. Setting *** Besides the underwhelming exterior it is a spruced up dive bar inside so you won't be embarrassed bringing the family or a date. The bar is wall facing and you have to walk through a dining room to get there so it loses points there in my book. The crowd in the bar area seemed to be mostly 50+ singles and there wasn't anything notable going on. There is a line up of TV's above the bar but I didn't see them anywhere else. The men's room in the bar area was spotless but it is single use, hand dryer only and has one of the most frustrating TP dispensers I have ever experienced. Service ** Although our server started out on top of things and was very nice overall, as our Wednesday night progressed the glacial pace took its toll as we were there for nearly 2.5 hours which for a pub is simply ludicrous. It was Trivia Night so we did have that as a distraction but we could barely hear the MC and the questions would jump from kindergarten to masters level from one to the next so that quickly became annoying. My main issue though was the absolute incessant ringing of the bell from the kitchen. Granted we sat in the bar are (nearest the kitchen) and maybe they were busier than they expected to be but there was not a moments piece from that darn bell!!! Seriously if you are that busy, hire a runner or another server! Food *** We also found the food a sort of mixed bag. My starter of Wings were fantastic, huge, but still crispy and juicy. If not for the overly runny Blue Cheese they would rank amongst the best unbreaded wings I've had. Wednesday is "Pasta Night" so I couldn't resist and ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese. This was no where near what I was expecting as instead of ground beef I'm pretty sure this was some type of beef short rib. The flavors were so good that it mostly compensated for the over cooked pasta. Of course my son ordered a burger and while cooked a perfect Medium Rare the char/bitter taste from the grill was so overpowering it ruined the whole thing and was borderline inedible. The adjoining fries, which I assume they make in house, were just bits and pieces of foul tasting potato fragments and it was most likely time to change the fryer oil. I was here this evening with my husband and daughter. Our waitress was great, the food was ok, my husband and I split the cheese steak sandwich, I must say it was very over cooked, not good. When we received our check, they automatically put the service charge on it, so when I explained this to our waitress, she then got the manager. The manager, I wish I knew her name, copped an attitude with me, then redid the check and flipped it onto the table and rudely walked away with no explanation. Our family and I celebrated my son' Chris's 50th birthday at the Nanuet Restaurant last night. There were 15 of us. I want to acknowledge the outstanding service we received from the manager Kaitlyn, Kyle our server and the rest of the staff. They were so very attentive to our needs. The food was delicious. Everything from the appetizers to the entrees met our expectations and more. Love the atmosphere. Such a great place to get together and enjoy a night of fun and food. It had been a number of years since I had visited the Nanuet Restaurant and I must say it was even better than I remembered. The food is absolutely amazing and not only that, their Craft Beer list is ON POINT! Good food, great beer and the vibe was right! We made friends with the staff and some of the regulars, so what was supposed to be a low key Monday night quest for some good eats turned out to be a 5 hour funfillled night.. but that's a story for another day. The service was also perfect. I reccomend the Vodka Pizza, the Wings...lots of flavor choices, the Fried Lasagna and the Ciliengini Dumplings which were a real treat! Went here specifically because this place was written up in LoHud under Jeanne's Top 5...... my hubby had to try the chicken parm pizza which is "basically a pizza made with a chicken cutlet crust and pounded so it's thin". She might say it's elevated but we say NO. It's deep fried chicken- a little crunch which is nice but you get tired of it after a few "slices". Service was very nice and the have a parking lot so you don't have to park on the street. Seemed like a fun place to watch sports and the regulator pizza menu looked great. read more

There used to be two certainties in life: Death and Taxes. Now there's a third- If you place a takeout order from the Nanuet Restaurant you will wait an extra 20 to 40 minutes for your food. I live about 20 minutes away from the restaurant. I called in my order and was told about 35 minutes. As the time approached my wife said, shouldn't you get going? Nah, I said, they won't be ready. I left the house 10 minutes before their scheduled ready time, and when I got there I still had to wait an extra half hour! Sorry, but that is ridiculous. There were only three tables being used inside and another 5 tables being used outside. Even adding the takeout orders it doesn't come close to the volume you would expect when the place is even just half full. Why is there such a challenge in preparing a simple food order in time? All that being said there were two important positives-- the young lady behind the counter was really nice; the poor girl had to deal with a bunch of people impatiently waiting for their takeout food. The second was that the meal was really good. When I finally got it home we enjoyed it a lot. Guys, you have the important stuff working at five stars. It's #NotTheSame. The pizza crust is not the same. The fresh garlic is roasted and not chopped. The pepperoni is not small pieces, they took large slices on the bias of salami. The menu has a few more items on it, but don't fool yourself. It's a great new restaurant, the facelift was much needed. It's not grimy anymore (which I kinda liked). It is very nice inside and a familiar connection to what it was. The bar area is now modern, but the staff apparently is allowed to sit at the bar and drink with customers. I asked to pay for my pizzas while I waited, but nobody came back until my pizzas were ready in their boxes. Then I had to pay and wait to sign while the pizza got cold. In summary, pizza is "good enough". However there's a place across the street that is my go-to when in Nanuet. read more

Good food but terrible takeout service. Buyer beware, the onus is on you to know when the anticipated ready time is. Here's my scenario: I arrive early for my pickup and decide to have a drink in the bar. The front of the house marks my bill as paid and "in the bar room". I wait in the bar and time passess with no one coming to inform me order is ready. I head to the front desk and ask if the order is ready, at this point we're 45 minutes into a 25 minute estimate. Someone runs into the kitchen and the order comes out to which I leave. Fast forward...I get home and all the food is cold. I called the restaurant, was out put on hold until a nice female answered. I was I formed that since I was early, the onus to know when 25 min is up is on me? Now, I've worked in the restaurant business and I have never heard of this policy. I asked why they noted on the receipt that I was in the "bar room". The reply was, "so they knew where I was" but not to get me when the food was ready......what??? A restaurant with good customer service would let the person picking up food know it is ready! Is this too difficult to ask? Maybe your dinner won't be ruined like mine and my family's. read more
