Came to BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse in Allen to catch a World Cup match while having dinner with the family. After we were seated, I made the mistake of checking Yelp and immediately noticed several one-star reviews, most of them centered around service issues. We debated leaving but decided to give it a fair shot. I'd say the service landed right around average. It took a while for our food to arrive despite the restaurant not being particularly crowded, and our appetizer showed up at the same time as our entrees, which was a little disappointing. That said, the food ended up being a pleasant surprise. I ordered the Jambalaya, and while I wouldn't call it exceptional, it was well-seasoned and flavorful. For a sports bar-style restaurant, it far exceeded my expectations. My wife had the Ahi Tuna Salad. The ingredients were fresh and individually tasty, but the overall dish felt like it was missing something to really bring it together. The standout item of the night was the Broccoli Cheddar Bread Bowl. That was an absolute hit with the family and something I'd definitely recommend ordering. We also shared the Sampler Platter. The spinach dip was outstanding, easily one of the better spinach dips I've had. The wings were solid as well and rounded out the platter nicely. Overall, the food was better than expected and featured several real highlights. The service was average, and the atmosphere was fine but nothing particularly memorable. If you're looking for a place to watch a game and enjoy some surprisingly good food, BJ's is worth considering, just be prepared for service that may not always be the strongest part of the experience. read more

I had a HORRIBLE experience at BJ's. We waited about 10 minutes just to get a server. Once we finally got one, we ordered from the happy hour menu, but he got our order wrong. My child was starving, so we had to wait even longer for our food because of the mistake. I also asked for waters and never received them. Then, when we ordered the Pizookie Trio, he got one of the flavors wrong. At that point, I didn't even bother saying anything because I had honestly given up. When it came to paying out we waited a while to finally get the bill taken care of and everything had an excuse like oh I thought you were paying with mobile pay when I never even mentioned anything about that. Our server's name was Hamza M., and he did not seem to care to pay attention to us or provide good service in the slightest. The sad part is that I'm in the service industry myself, so I'm usually an over-tipper and always try to take care of my servers. However, I couldn't justify tipping above and beyond for an experience like this. I have been to BJs many times before. This time was a terrible experience. We were a party of 8. Ordered a couple avocado egg rolls for starters. They brought it out after our meal was served. One of the dishes chicken Alfredo was cold. Had to be sent back. The server never could be found and we had to flag different people to get any help. No one came by the refill waters. One of my immediate past visits was with a server that was so terrible, we asked to speak to the manager. He was inattentive, slow and incompetent. The manager addressed it before we left. Well, fast forward several months if not a year, we went back and here again we had the same server. Initially, I thought that there was improvement, but as the evening went on, some of the same horrible traits manifested again. He was unexplainably slow, made assumptions on how to split the check, and ultimately ticked off me and my entire family when instead of checking that we paid via our mobile devices, he thought WE RAN OUT ON THE CHECK AND PROCEEDED TO CHASE AFTER US IN THE PARKING LOT. I'd heard through the grapevine about the famous pizookies (skillet cookies) so my hubby & I stopped by for a sweet treat. The services was amazing but it took forever to receive our dessert. When it arrived, it wasn't aa hot as I'd like nor as thick as some of the other skillet cookies that I've had but it was pretty good. I ordered the chocolate chip pizookie & my husband ordered the triple chocolate pizookie. His was a bit more warmer but still not as thick. If you sign up for their rewards program, you can receive a free pizookie as a reward! It takes 24 hours to receive. If I go back, it'll just be for the free pizookie. Great food, disappointing management Only adding a second star because the food and initial service was great... until a lady who appeared to be a manager showed up time after time spoiling our meal. I came with my husband and son last night around 10:30pm and what started as a pleasant late night meal turned into an interrogation and observatory for a blonde lady, younger, a little heavy set. Forgot to ask her name but I overheard the girl behind the bar call her Holly or Haley, after initially checking in on us to see how things were going she continued to ask question after question. We were not particularly looking for conversation because the food was in front of us already, afterwards she hovered and I caught her staring at us multiple times and my husband pointed out the same. It made us uncomfortable to the point we lost our appetites, we did not want to be watched eating. My husband's water was getting low and our server told us that he would come right back with another water, as he came back he found another glass of water from none other than the manager lady that came with a side of interrogation. I'm in a line of work that this kind of micro management costs, and in this situation it surely cost the restaurant repeat business. PROS: Ahi salad and my son's appetizer sampler meal was plentiful, my Parmesan chicken was good as well. Hours are accommodating. Ambience and the environment is good for family, etc. Food was fairly priced for the portions and ingredients. Regular service was quick, conversational, and friendly. I thought about leaving this review, I typically refrain because I know this kind of thing can hurt someone's reputation and I understand managers need to check on things and make sure customers are taken care of. However there is a big difference between being attentive and constantly interfering. Hopefully management can take that into consideration, because the server deserved better and so did we as customers. read more

Tried to put in an order on the app. Would not take my cc so did a call in order. Went early, took our empty growler and sat at the bar to try the new porter. Very good and very friendly bartender, Madison. Anyway, went over to the take out area. They had our pizza and a filled growler. Sitting on a shelf getting warm. I had mine with me and said i specifically said we wanted a refill and the ticket on the pizza box even said refill red, for Jeremiah red. Their solution was to pour the warm beer into ours. Not impressed. I don't think draft beer is supposed to be treated like that. read more

We came to this BJs for a late night dinner around 9:45 PM and we were greeted by servers and staff a like headed out the door. While it was understandable that staff was clocking out for the night, we waited 5-10 minutes before being greeted at the host stand or being seated. It looked like 3/4 of the restaurant had been cleaned and put away for the night already. Once we sat down our waitress got our drink orders, one beer and two waters. My husband said his beer tasted off (almost like medicine) and was flat. Our waitress seemed super busy so we didn't bother asking for anything else. We got a half and half medium pizza (buffalo chicken and BJs classic) and a mac and cheese couscous appetizer. About 5 minutes later the waitress came back and said they ran out of medium pizzas and we had to either get the large or change our order completely. We weren't that bothered by this and decided leftovers wouldn't be the biggest issue. Once the pizza arrived it seemed like hadn't been cooked enough. The crust lacked a crisp and seemed like it could have used a few more minutes in the oven. The veggies on the BJs pizza seemed to still be raw for the most part. Honestly the best part of the meal was the couscous appetizer! We've been to plenty of BJs in the area but this experience had to be one of the more disappointing ones! read more

With only 5 days until the date, the manager at this location worked with me and came up with an amazing meal for our staff, and the price was right in our budget! Our waitress was absolutely kind and caring but lacked training. And urgency. We were eating a late dinner (around 8.45p) and the restaurant was quiet - we were one of 3 total tables. I have grace for wait staff having previously been a server myself. I just wish they would have spent a little more time focusing on us and less time texting on their phone and in the corner. Food. I was ravenous after a long day of travel prior to little sleep. However, our food all came out mild temperatures and not too tasty. The breads all tasted stale, the sides lacked flavor, and the starter seemed half empty. Definitely not worth what we paid for. I've loved a BJs experience because the vibe of the place is always on point for great conversations and fun. However, probably best to skip over this location if you're in the Allen area. read more

We were there for 3 hours. They did not once refill are drinks. When it came to the check, we still had missing food. All of our food was mixed up and cold when it was brought out and we were charged for it when they were the ones who mixed it up. The management was extremely rude and was not helpful at all. We were not impressed with our visit to this restaurant. We had called for a reservation and when we got there, they had said they never received one. Because of this, we had to wait another 20 minutes and the service was very slow. It was not very busy in the restaurant either so we were quite surprised at how slow the service was in comparison to the amount of people there. Our favorite thing though was the spinach artichoke dip which was amazing! The nachos were also a hit for our party of 10. Would definitely recommend those two things as appetizers if you want to try this place out! read more
