Came to BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse in Allen to catch a World Cup match while having dinner with the family. After we were seated, I made the mistake of checking Yelp and immediately noticed several one-star reviews, most of them centered around service issues. We debated leaving but decided to give it a fair shot. I'd say the service landed right around average. It took a while for our food to arrive despite the restaurant not being particularly crowded, and our appetizer showed up at the same time as our entrees, which was a little disappointing. That said, the food ended up being a pleasant surprise. I ordered the Jambalaya, and while I wouldn't call it exceptional, it was well-seasoned and flavorful. For a sports bar-style restaurant, it far exceeded my expectations. My wife had the Ahi Tuna Salad. The ingredients were fresh and individually tasty, but the overall dish felt like it was missing something to really bring it together. The standout item of the night was the Broccoli Cheddar Bread Bowl. That was an absolute hit with the family and something I'd definitely recommend ordering. We also shared the Sampler Platter. The spinach dip was outstanding, easily one of the better spinach dips I've had. The wings were solid as well and rounded out the platter nicely. Overall, the food was better than expected and featured several real highlights. The service was average, and the atmosphere was fine but nothing particularly memorable. If you're looking for a place to watch a game and enjoy some surprisingly good food, BJ's is worth considering, just be prepared for service that may not always be the strongest part of the experience. read more

I have been to BJs many times before. This time was a terrible experience. We were a party of 8. Ordered a couple avocado egg rolls for starters. They brought it out after our meal was served. One of the dishes chicken Alfredo was cold. Had to be sent back. The server never could be found and we had to flag different people to get any help. No one came by the refill waters. Literally one of my worst BJs experience. Sad. read more

UPDATE TO ORIGINAL REVIEW Mia the locations site manager called me the next day to apologize and not only refunded our entire order but also bought us our same order so that we could still enjoy our special treat from our daughter and son-in-law. The food was wonderful just like we are used to getting from BJ's. Thank you Mia for correcting this and regaining our love of BJ's as it was once our regular place for our weekly date nights. One of my immediate past visits was with a server that was so terrible, we asked to speak to the manager. He was inattentive, slow and incompetent. The manager addressed it before we left. Well, fast forward several months if not a year, we went back and here again we had the same server. Initially, I thought that there was improvement, but as the evening went on, some of the same horrible traits manifested again. He was unexplainably slow, made assumptions on how to split the check, and ultimately ticked off me and my entire family when instead of checking that we paid via our mobile devices, he thought WE RAN OUT ON THE CHECK AND PROCEEDED TO CHASE AFTER US IN THE PARKING LOT. I'd heard through the grapevine about the famous pizookies (skillet cookies) so my hubby & I stopped by for a sweet treat. The services was amazing but it took forever to receive our dessert. When it arrived, it wasn't aa hot as I'd like nor as thick as some of the other skillet cookies that I've had but it was pretty good. I ordered the chocolate chip pizookie & my husband ordered the triple chocolate pizookie. His was a bit more warmer but still not as thick. If you sign up for their rewards program, you can receive a free pizookie as a reward! It takes 24 hours to receive. If I go back, it'll just be for the free pizookie. Very good and very friendly bartender, Madison. Anyway, went over to the take out area. They had our pizza and a filled growler. Sitting on a shelf getting warm. I had mine with me and said i specifically said we wanted a refill and the ticket on the pizza box even said refill red, for Jeremiah red. Their solution was to pour the warm beer into ours. We came to this BJs for a late night dinner around 9:45 PM and we were greeted by servers and staff a like headed out the door. While it was understandable that staff was clocking out for the night, we waited 5-10 minutes before being greeted at the host stand or being seated. It looked like 3/4 of the restaurant had been cleaned and put away for the night already. Once we sat down our waitress got our drink orders, one beer and two waters. My husband said his beer tasted off (almost like medicine) and was flat. Our waitress seemed super busy so we didn't bother asking for anything else. We got a half and half medium pizza (buffalo chicken and BJs classic) and a mac and cheese couscous appetizer. About 5 minutes later the waitress came back and said they ran out of medium pizzas and we had to either get the large or change our order completely. We weren't that bothered by this and decided leftovers wouldn't be the biggest issue. Once the pizza arrived it seemed like hadn't been cooked enough. The crust lacked a crisp and seemed like it could have used a few more minutes in the oven. The veggies on the BJs pizza seemed to still be raw for the most part. Honestly the best part of the meal was the couscous appetizer! We've been to plenty of BJs in the area but this experience had to be one of the more disappointing ones! read more

With only 5 days until the date, the manager at this location worked with me and came up with an amazing meal for our staff, and the price was right in our budget! I have grace for wait staff having previously been a server myself. I just wish they would have spent a little more time focusing on us and less time texting on their phone and in the corner. Food. I was ravenous after a long day of travel prior to little sleep. However, our food all came out mild temperatures and not too tasty. The breads all tasted stale, the sides lacked flavor, and the starter seemed half empty. Definitely not worth what we paid for. We were not impressed with our visit to this restaurant. We had called for a reservation and when we got there, they had said they never received one. Because of this, we had to wait another 20 minutes and the service was very slow. It was not very busy in the restaurant either so we were quite surprised at how slow the service was in comparison to the amount of people there. Our favorite thing though was the spinach artichoke dip which was amazing! The nachos were also a hit for our party of 10. Had my first really not great experience at this BJ's and was quite surprised by the lackluster experience overall. We were sat and our server did not come by to say hello or ask if we needed anything for almost 25 minutes. After taking our food order we never saw him again. The drinks we ordered did not come until almost 50 minutes later and both entrees came out both very overdone. I liked the mini deep dish "pepperoni extreme" pizza, but next time I might just try the regular pepperoni. The triple chocolate pizookie was really great. So we had a party of 5 on a Saturday evening. We were seated quickly and our waiter, Romello I believe, showed up quickly and got our drink order promptly. We took a while to order but he kept checking for when we were ready. He was super helpful and personable and gave us his opinion on a few menu items. Food got out on good time, was hot and everyone at the table was pretty happy with their food. This place seems to have some bad reviews, but our experience was very enjoyable. BJs has been in this area for about 20 years. I've never been. Until today. Recently one of my credit card points redemption choices was BJs so I bit. After reviewing it I realized I should have checked the Yelp ratings first. Sure enough, things are choppy in the Yelpasphere for BJz Brew House . I looked at the three locations within striking distance of my house. They all appeared equally mixed. So,what the heck,never been,give it a try. Tonight we went and upon entering the place is big. However,it seems impersonal or outdated..can't put my finger on it. The menu seems to be trying to appeal to all people and taste. It kinda feels like if TGI Fridays and Cheesecake factory had a baby. Without going into detail I'll just bottom line it.
