Never in my 55 years of wearing glasses have I had a pair of glasses last less than one month. This company does not stand behind their products. Do not recommend. Will NEVER GO BACK. Was told they are independent and owner charges this fee for shipping new frames. However it is my feeling that the frames had to be defective as they broke in same exact place. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE.

(Non)-review for optical shop only…read more I'll never know whether they're any good or not, since: I called ahead to determine the hours, was told they were open such and such hours, showed up during such and such hours, and was treated to a closed shop with a sign saying "back at 2 PM", presumably for lunch. That this was not the only optical shop where they failed to mention lunch hours is sort of beside the point, although I'm taking out my frustration here because I had specifically mentioned the hour when I was going to come by and the phone answerer didn't correct me. I suspect this is endemic to places where there's an ophthalmological practice associated with the optical shop, that is on somewhat different hours to the optician - I surmise the reception and the optical shop folks aren't necessarily on the same page. So I'm just sadder and wiser and not angry at this point. You are similarly cautioned that calling ahead doesn't necessarily do you any good. And, seriously, this was the *fourth* place this happened to me, where they weren't there during the hours they purported to be there, so clearly this is a "feature" of small optical shops. I only mention it this time since I made a special trip after explicitly asking "will the shop be open such and such hours".

When I gave my daughter's name they said, "Oh, the doctor had an emergency and is running a little late. If you want to fill out the paperwork and wait." I asked how long. They said he'd been there in about 45-60 minutes. WHAT? Then they told me I could come back if that was easier. I looked at them, not knowing what to say. They said they tried to call but my phone number was wrong. They tied the white pages but I wasn't there. I decided that these things happen and filled out the new patient paperwork. After the last sheet, was someone else's completed forms. Yeah - you know - the ones that have their name, SSN, and whatnot. I left with my three kids unsure what to think. I went home and put my name and zip code into whitepages.com. My number popped right up. I called them, telling them I'm in the white pages. They said they didn't have my name, only my daughter's. What? I then found out his emergency was a burst pipe at his house. Nothing medical or whatnot. So...he can cancel on patients, no one like a spouse can handle a burst pipe at 1:30pm in the afternoon and no other doctor could see my kid? And...the staff is too incompetent to take information correctly or remove prior patients forms from a clipboard. Not the kind of place I want to do business with. *sigh*

Today was my first & last visit to this over the top unprofessional place. As I was checking into my appointment, I was informed by the receptionist that Dr. Roth does not accept my insurance plan. Wait.. What? When I called to make the appointment, I stated that Dr. Alexander JC Penny Eye Care) was referring me to Dr. Brass (keep this tidbit in mind). As she was taking my info, she asked me who was my carrier. I replied, and also stated that I already checked the website and Dr. Brass was listed. She replied, please call your insurance carrier as sometimes things will change and it may not be accurate on the website. Fair enough. I called, and sure enough Dr. Brass was part of network. So why when I show up today do I have an appointment with Dr. Roth? I already stated who I was referred to and that is who I wanted to see. If you knew that Dr. Roth does not take my insurance, why wouldn't you tell me? Or better yet, don't schedule me with him. Stated that I was really having issues that I was concerned about & needed to see someone today. She continued to say that Dr. Roth does not take the insurance--if I really wanted the appointment, I could have it and pay out of my pocket. Or, she said, you can come back tomorrow to see Dr. Brass. NO-- I took time off of work TODAY, because today was my appointment. They would not accommodate me. She asked me if I had asked Ins carrier if Dr. Roth was in network. NO-- because I thought I was seeing Dr. Brass!!! Another woman stepped in and stated over & over the same thing (as a 3rd listened through the sliding window) Then a 4th stepped out from behind the office & was just as rigid & rude as can be. When I asked again, why would you give me an appointment with a Dr that does not take my insurance? She stated, we typically tell you who you have the appointment with, so you can verify with your carrier. My response was, yeah, operative word there-- typically. As you DID not tell me or even lead me to believe I was not seeing Dr. Brass. So I left in tears and very angry with the treatment I just incurred. My parents, who were waiting to bring me home, as I was told I could not drive after the appointment, saw how upset I was. They promptly drove me to their Dr. I spoke with a very professional woman- who CHECKED my coverage for me and gladly made an appointment for me. Yes, I have to take additional time off for the appointment. Which truthfully, I would have done to see either of your Dr's- but the simple fact that all 3 women were so indignant to think that I implied any miscommunication on their part-- that I will NEVER again step foot in there. I will make sure I tell EVERYONE who ever asks about my eye care to stay far away from you. I also called Dr. Alexander's office and suggested he choose a professional practice in his referrals.

On June 9th 2016 I had cataract surgery on my right eye. I found the office staff, and everyone…read moreinvolved with my care, to be professional and very pleasant, even when I was late for an appointment (oops). And yes, the thought of having surgery done on my eye, which you obviously can't shut, turn and look away, is a bit unnerving. Although Dr. Brass gave re-assurance that all would be well, nothing could have quelled the fear of eye surgery, in my mind anyway. But after having researched his track record, I knew he was probably right. Besides, you gotta do what you gotta do. The surgery went far better than I expected. It was all over in a blink (pun intended), and I was back home within 4 hrs from when I had left. I returned on Dec.19th to have the other eye done. This time my whole perspective had changed. It went just as well as the first, but with far less apprehension on my part. Although I am glad that humans have only two eyes, if we had a third, I would certainly have it's surgery done with this group. Oh and BTW, they have their own surgery center. Which I found, in my research, to be far easier and less expensive (due to insurance issues from what I was told by my company's HR dept.) than operations that are done at hospitals.

I would do this procedure 5 times over if it meant I could see this good... so worth it! Don't overthink it.
