Shalimar Market serves food from the Indian sub-continent (Bengali/Pakistani/Indian). The food is…read moreextremely modest in terms of pricing and the quantities are generous. This should allow you to sample multiple dishes without breaking the bank and feeling full. For this particular delivery, I ordered: 1. Chicken biryani - The quantity provided can easily be shared by 2 and even 3 people in one sitting. They did NOT skimp on the amount of meat provided with the biryani rice, it was quite a lot. 2. Shami kebab (beef) - Minced beef patties with lots of spices (but not spicy in terms of heat) was a perfect appetizer. The meat was tender and the flavor intense. 3. Seekh kebab (beef) - I thought the kebabs could have been a bit more juicy, it was too dry. The flavor though was on point. This comes with a choice of steamed rice or naan (I chose the latter and it was amazing). Totally recommend giving them a try if you're looking for something inexpensive and tasty.

We were visiting Dallas and wanted to try some Bengali food. We ordered some beef mezban and it was…read moreso delicious. The gravy of the beef was just perfect, not too thick and not too runny, just the consistency that's required to enjoy with some white rice. The strong aroma of mustard oil from the beef reminded me of how it's cooked back home, sooo goood!!! We were chatting with the folks and found out that the gentleman who cooked is actually from Hyderabad but speaks fluent Bengali and cooked up some really good Bengali style beef for us! And the owner is from Chittagong so that explains the delicious recipe. I would highly recommend anyone looking for authentic Bengali food and I bet all the other beef dishes would be delicious too. Next time we're in Texas, we will visit again. Sorry, I forgot to take pictures, was busy eating the delicious food.

The quality of the food is very high and the prices are unbelievable. 99 cents for a samosa! I ordered a few samosas which were all excellent, the chicken biryani (warning: chicken is on the bone), and the mango lassie. All 5 people who ordered after me while I was waiting ordered the biryani as well - it's clearly a super popular dish. Now for the naan. Oh my goodness was it good! It came with a variety of sauces. I tried both the plain and the garlic. I favored the plain with the sauces but the garlic was also outstanding. Can't wait to go back! Seriously worthy of 5 stars.

It's a decent size grocery store with great selections of prepackaged seasonings, fresh meats & fish. The freezer area has A LOT of different roti's, & naans, also samosas, gyro meats, cooked chicken snacks. Wish they had more frozen entrees, not just naans & snacks. THE CAFE IS A MUST TRY! The prices are reasonable, good selections, & boy... they were so good! I got beef Tezala (tejala) & butter chicken that come with basmati rice. Portion is enough for 2 people. I asked for mild bc hubby & daughter don't handle spicy. They both have GENEROUS amount of meat! The beef has bone-in meat pieces & yes some fatty meat that we like bc the fat makes food tasty. They're both fresh & so tasty. The butter chicken is creamy with just the right amount of sweetness, not too sweet like some other places. The beef was tender that it fell off the bones & so rich in flavor. Pretty generous amount of rice too. The staff are nice & friendly. The store staff greet you & offer help. It is a simple, non-fancy place, but it is a gem! Can't believe I never bothered to check this place out!

Great spice level and flavorful without being super spicy. My favorite dish. 10/10 Beef Bihari: Pasty, spicy, really yummy. Perfect with naan and raita. Smoky and very flavorful. 10/10 Chicken Tikka (leg): Personally, I don't care for chicken tikka but this was great for what it is. Juicy, flavorful and smoky, with a good sized portion of chicken. 8/10 Chicken Makhni: Really good. The kiddo loved it, not spicy, and I liked it as well. Went perfectly with naan. Boneless and very kid friendly. 8/10 Naan: authentic Pakistani naan was so soft and flufy. 10/10 Mango Lassi: Kid and mama approved. Yummy and not overly sweet, just the perfect flavor. 9/10 Falooda: I don't care for it but it was good for what it was. 8/10 Total was $90 with tip. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Someone checked in periodically to make sure we were good. It was moderately busy on a weeknight. Clientele was mostly Pakistani. All food is halal.
