I was in the area and decided to come here a grab a quick lunch. I got the Mama Mia sandwich with hot coppa salami, ham, provolone cheese and pesto on sourdough bread. The sandwich was toasted, which I appreciate and it was pretty good. The filling of the sandwich was pretty good. The salami made the sandwich salty, which was too salty for me, but I should have known what I signed up for. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was that the bread wasn't soft on the inside. While I was waiting I had the opportunity to watch their hustle - and hustle they do. They crank out sandwiches like no other. Right after slicing the bread, they quickly hollow out one side which is a great idea to keep the sandwich from sliding on ya when eating. I picked up two sandwiches to go - Gotti and Gouda Good. Sandwiches are average, but my order was wrong and the staff are rude to older people and people of color. When my older mother in law was ordering with my husband, the ladies taking her order was extremely rude. Short story: Overpriced, especially since it is not even as good as grocery store deli & bagged produce. Staff on the clueless side. Long story: Ordered a whole rotisserie chicken $19.99 and regular size coleslaw $7.99. Although I could see the remains of spice and herbs on the chicken, the only flavor was salt. Not overly salty, just no other real flavors. The skin was rubbery and chewy, the breast was very dry, which rotisserie cooking is supposed to avoid. Honestly, I could have saved some money and picked up a chicken at Safeway for less than half the cost, and it would have been better prepared. If the coleslaw had dressing, it was not enough to show, and it had no flavor. At least the cabbage was still somewhat crisp. Had to add salad dressing to give it any flavor at all. Also, $8 for roughly 1 cup of slaw is way out of line. For a few bucks you can get a bag of slaw, with the dressing included, in the produce aisle. I had ordered through UberEats website, but later found their website www(dot)bitesandwiches(dot)com, where the whole chicken is listed for $13.99 and coleslaw $3.99! I called so I could find out why such a big difference in price for delivery. When the woman answered, I asked how much for a whole rotisserie chicken. She asked me "half or whole" so I repeated whole. She then called out to someone else to ask them the price. I couldn't make out the response, but she then informed me "We don't have chicken." Huh? I asked again about the rotisserie chicken, and she said "We don't have it right now." I told her that was not the question I asked - I asked what the price is. Ordered food here while at a Hotel in the area. Let's cut to the chase. Cuban was amazing! Ordered a salad containing apple slices, cranberries, spring mix, rotisserie chicken, and walnuts. Requested no walnuts. You guessed it, loaded with walnuts. Luckily I had no allergy and spent time picking them out. Salad wasn't that great even without the walnuts. But again, the Cuban was great! Also ordered a make it your way type sandwich. Chose Sausalito roasted Turkey, which I had no idea was super spiced. That was on me, but there was no description on the menu. Asked for Mayo either on it or in the side- hot neither. Also Asked for oil & vinegar on it- got none. Needless to say I had an extremely dry sandwich. The reviews for this place were very good. I was forced to select something strange on the app. I selected apple slices and said in notes please do not add apples to my sandwich because I was forced to select something. Solid sammie spot in Nob Hill. For 2, we ordered the Gouda Good chicken and the Gobbler sandwich. The Gouda Good really was good. The chicken was tender and the gouda cheese was all warm and ooey gooey and oozing out (in a good way). The Dutch crunch bread was also crunchy and the added jalapeños definitely added a nice kick. The Gobbler (which was pretty much a BLT with turkey) was a little bit more underwhelming. The turkey was good, and they were accommodating about substituting the blue cheese for pepper jack, but the sandwich was overall dry -- maybe they went a little light on the mayo and mustard? Creative little spot in the local hood with dope speciality sandwiches (like the Gouda). But I'll look around a little further for the classics. read more

In doing so, they have bridged the gap between Dolce Gelato and the convenience store next door to create a new oasis on Sutter St., where a row of tables and chairs has sprung up to accommodate all new patrons. I had the Gouda Good - rotisserie chicken, Gouda, lettuce, tomato, onion, pepperhouse sauce, mustard and jalapenos. There was a ton of moist, tasty chicken and the combination of ingredients was wonderful. Boyfriend had The Day After Thanksgiving - turkey, cranberry sauce, Swiss, lettuce, tomato, and onion. It was also very good. We shared the German potato salad. It had bacon in it. Bacon! This is the sort of business we love to see opening in the neighborhood. I totally understand why this joint is so loved. Think fresh, warm, crispy toasty bread baked between a mouthful of ingredients that deliver a punch of enticing flavors. And at a price to love? That makes one damn good Bite. After a show at The Masonic, my brother and I decided to get a quick bite and found this place around the corner. (Open til 2am. Perfect for those drunchies?) Parking was a little tough, as is all SF street parking, but we eventually found a spot a few blocks down and walked over. It's a tiny hole-in-the-wall with room only to stand and wait. It's more of a stop and go kind of sandwich shop, with the kitchen right behind the counter and rotisserie chickens roasting right before your eyes. Their menu is pretty expansive and full of SO many different sandwich combinations--different meats, cheeses, veggies and breads to go in. You'll find any combo you love, with the option of making your own. They also offer salads and wraps. I opted for the Vegetarian Bite which, for a lot of sandwich shops can be a rip-off, but WOW did they pack in the flavor! It came with hummus, avocado, mushrooms, sundried tomatoes and lettuce in a toasty wheat Dutch bun. And for a vegetarian sandwich, it was super tasty and filling as any other sandwich you could order. Their prices typically range from $8-13, which is totally worth the price since their portions are very reasonable and generous. Food is made on the spot, as some sandwiches can take a bit of cooking time, which, for me...is no bother at all. I trust their cooking and preparation to make every sandwich fresh, warm, toasty and full of flavor, which is exactly what I got. Overall, it's everything you'd want and ask for in a sandwich. Just good ingredients cooked and prepared well... From the bread to the variations of turkey, bacon, roast beef, gouda or blue cheese, they're making good stuff here. And I've no complaints. I don't know many good sandwich places around, but if I'm ever in SF again and this place is close by, you can bet I'd love to get another post-concert bite here. EDIT: 3 Stars down to 1 Star. I came home to eat the other half of my sandwich and almost swallowed a piece of plastic. I bit into something hard and the piece was small enough that I would have swallowed it, but it was sharp on my tongue, so I spit it out. I attached two pics of the plastic. I would have considered coming back to try another sandwich as my previous review said, but no thank you now. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I love that Bite is open super late and it's about a 15-20 minute walk from my work place BUT the sandwich I got did not blow me away. I got the Gouda Good and it was not bad, but it did not make me want to come back. Maybe the one I got just didn't fit my tastes? Solid sandwich spot. I just moved near this neighborhood recently so I've only eaten here once and had the kitchen sink on a soft roll. My sandwich was stacked with all kinds of meat. The lettuce is your typical shredded iceberg, but I love that they cut the onions and tomatoes super thin so the flavors don't overpower the meat. Tomatoes were also ripe and juicy. This sandwich was huge so if you don't have a big mouth you probably won't be able to eat it lol. I'll be back again. read more

Above average sandwiches because of their inventive combinations. For value, while I was full, there are better places with bigger portions. What a great late night bite! My spouse and I took a short walk here after seeing the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Play. It was a short and safe walk from Curran Theater. We got the Gooda good and the sleeper. Really good sandwiches though I will say the bread was toasted a bit too much for my liking in that it was a roof scraper and that I wouldn't get the Gooda good again because it was too mustardy. I think the peppercorn sauce has mustard as well or a mustardy flavor and that might have been the issue. I'm not too big of a fan of mustard though, so perhaps someone with a stronger affinity would be a big fan, or perhaps it just had more mustard/peppercorn sauce that usual. The lady working there said it was the most popular, which is why I got it. Wow. Just. Wow. I came to this little shop after studying the menu online. First thing I noticed was just how small this little shop was! When I entered, we were promptly greeted with a lot of energy. Awesome vibes leaves me happy. I love Gouda, and got the Gouda good. Which was amazing. They give a good amount of meat, sauce, and veggies, all in a perfectly toasted Dutch Crunch. They have a pretty extensive menu for such a small shop. I would give this place a 4.5, but I rounded up because of how good the sandwich was. Why the minus half star? Well... with a sandwich that good... I just want to sit down and eat it right away. There is no seating there, so you gotta take it to go! Boooo There's a small counter on the side, good for one maybe two people tops, but there were three of us, which was definitely a no go.
