The restaurant is impersonal. I don't understand why anyone wants to go to a restaurant without service. You have to order via a QR code. The "server" not a waitress shouts from across the room: "Do you want water?". She never said, Good morning " and asked if I needed help. I ordered three eggs over medium, toast, salad and home fries. The meal was served on a small plate with the eggs on top of each other and on the home fries. There was one over medium, the other two were well done. I guess the cook over cooked the first two and hid them underneath. There was no one to talk to, to tell her my eggs were not like I ordered because she was busy socializing with the other workers. Whenever I was able to get her attention to ask if the coffee had sugar or if my bread had sesame oil (allergy) she responded by asking if I wrote the information in my online order. When I go to a restaurant I want service. A smiling waiter not a "server"placing food on the table like a robot. I can call grub hub or Uber Eat to deliver my food and at least get a greeting. The meal without the tip was $20. No wonder the place was empty at 10:00 am on a Sunday. People get out of bed on Sunday for service. This is a place where you visit once and never return unless the Starbucks next door is closed. The people there were first timers. I did not see any usual patrons walk in as you would normally see in a good restaurant. The concept for this restaurant is not well thought out. I wish I had gone with my first instinct to get a Starbucks latte and sandwich for $10. Definitely a disappointment! read more

A few months back - this was the place to go. But due to some unfortunate events, I really can't recommend this place. I'll be the first to admit it is pretty expensive, but the quality was outstanding. But I'd say from the start of this year it's gone down hill. They were never on point with their delivery. For some reason, this restaurant was the only one that could never find where I live or just never followed the direction on the order app notes. I usually only knew they delivered when I was picking up mail or refreshing the site to see if it was delivered. 90% of the time they don't ring the bell or text or if they do text (like the most recent delivery), there's nothing there! And when I ask the delivery person, where is it... nothing. What's the point of text messages if the person on the other side just totally ignores you? Usually I deal with it because the food was good, but lately it's been cold when delivered. I figured because it was sitting outside for 10-15 minutes because I didn't know it was delivered (a problem in itself), but the last few orders, it's just been cold and burnt to a crisp. I'm sorry Bite, but there are a lot of better options for burgers for better prices, that can find my location and don't send me cold food. I've ordered delivery from here before, and the food was yum yum in my tum tum. But I had a moment here where I experienced an existential crisis. I ordered food online for pickup. Nothing major-- it was a latte and a smoothie bowl. It said it would be ready in 20 minutes, so I got there 20 minutes after the order. I didn't see it on the pickup table. Ok, no big deal. It seemed busy. So I stood and waited.. and waited.. and waited.. I watched people come in, place orders and walk out and I was still standing there. Someone that was working the kitchen line (looked like a manager) kept making eye contact with me, or so I thought. After a while, I began to question if I existed, or if I had died and was a ghost floating inside of Bite. There were girls working behind the counter who were joking around and definitely saw me standing off to the side for a while. Was I now Casper? I'm a giant fat cat, my presence should be noticeable. A thought came to my head. Did my order not go through? I know computer glitches happen sometimes, or the receipt paper runs out and my order may have not been printed. I walked over to the counter-- granted this was when masks were still enforced-- but I said, "excuse me." I said it a couple times. No one responded to me. Could they not hear me? Then I saw one of the employees start blending stuff together and I knew it was my bowl. It took nearly 50 mins to make a smoothie bowl. It would have been quicker if I went to the grocery and restocked on frozen fruit & made it at home. I was late coming back home for remote work. I know stuff happens & things get backed up..but damn ya'll if the pickup notice was accurate and said 50 mins I would have taken my break to grab food a little later. I kinda got the vibe that no one gave a rats ass that I was waiting either. Needless to say, I'm not purring. If I wasn't declawed I would have left a bunch of scratch marks on the walls!! read more

I appreciate that a good place for omnivores has a bunch of vegan options. But the vegan burrito i ordered was really bad. "Vegan JUST egg, IMPOSSIBLE sausage, refried beans, goddess, pico de gallo, fries, wrapped in flour tortilla." The first bite burned. Instead of actual pico, I got a chunk of jalapeño. The sausage was warmed but didn't look cooked. I'm guessing they microwaved it? See the picture-- no browning (from a pan fry or other method). The Fries were in the wrap, which is odd, but is how the menu described. Maybe could have worked if they weren't soggy. They tasted like McDonalds fries that had sat around for half a day. I couldn't taste the beans at all, and assumed they accidentally left them out. The gluten free wrap was squishy. Mission makes a decent vegan gluten free wrap that is (when heated in a pan) is much better than whatever I just paid a $2 upcharge for. Available at any big grocery store or Target. No idea what "goddess" is but I think they forgot that too. It was unappetizing enough that I just pulled apart the other half of the wrap. I did find a few very tiny bits of onion and jalapeño as well as a minuscule trace of refried beans. I think I got maybe a half teaspoon dab of each? Which is ridiculous for a burrito. Putting a $4 frozen Amy's burrito in the toaster oven would have yielded way better results than this $16 (!!) burrito. The place closed early while I was eating. I decided to stop by and pick up some food since I was in the neighborhood. I ordered an everything bagel toasted with cream cheese and a BEC. The bagel was not very toasted as I requested and tasted kinda stale. I could've gotten a better bagel at ShopRite honestly. The BEC was ok at best. As a nurse, I get 30 minutes to eat, only to rush back to the floor without missing a beat. I came into the store- only one in line- and no one acknowledged my existence for 7 minutes. I was the only one in line. Another guy walks in and hey.. now I exist - only they can't get my lunch order fast enough so that they can flirt with him. I place my order and two other orders were placed behind me. More people line up to place orders. All orders places after me have been fulfilled, as I wait on my chicken torta. My lunch break is long over - I'm 12 minutes late now and and will be marked for a late lunch. I hate this place. If this next order isn't mine, I will ask for a refund, go back to work, and have crackers for lunch. My order was not next and I'm leaving. Was in Hackensack area, looking for a cafe where I can work & found on Yelp this never before seen spot... humorously it's literally next to Starbies where I avoid going to for some laptop time because it's too tight. The entrance is fantabulous with a green wall that greets you in pink neon lights. The cafe is modern & chic, plenty of space to sit & different types of seating, pick your style! You are also welcomed to work here with plugs underneath the booths-- I think this will be my fav spot to go! The menu offers a variety from sandwiches, pizza, tacos, paninis to breakfast stuff, Acai bowl, fresh pressed juices & smoothies. I ordered the Almond Power acai bowl which has nana's, almond butter, almonds & cooca nibs. It wasn't busy at all but took longer than I would expect, unlike in Playa Bowls... but this wasn't that place so I just figured it was something else. I checked up on it & the cashier was actually trying to make it. I was very pleasant about it & I could see he was taking his time. When it was finally ready, I was happy to see how pretty it looked! But there was too much granola, I think granola was spread on the bottom first & layered on the top... too much for consumption. I think it should be a topping. But the acai flavor was good, just very very thick. I wasn't sure why & it seemed kinda dry.. all that mattered was the flavor though. I woke up Sunday morning a bit late, and decided to give Bite a try in Hackensack. The location has a ton of parking in the lot, so no need to worry about being able to park. There is a Starbucks next door for any Starbucks lovers in the area. I like the upbeat, hipster, ambiance and decor. The establishment is very clean, well put together, and I had overall excellent service. The music was a mixture of top 50 and 2000 throwback songs which was nice for reminiscing. It's a chill spot for a quick bite with friends. For food I had the "Show Me the Greens" juice and the Mac & Cheese Burger. My juice was great and made fresh, but my burger overall was ok. The burger itself was fresh and juicy, however lacked flavor. The meat itself tasted unseasoned and I felt that the burger was missing some type of sauce. Also, it's not cheap so it wouldn't be a place I frequent too much due to the price tag. Overall I had a decent experience, so I will most likely return to see how the avocado toast or something else on the menu is like. To the owners, I love the place, however add more flavor and kick to the food. That "wow my taste buds are on fire" factor is what will drive more customers. Wow! Bite is a welcome addition to the food scene in Hackensack! As a former resident, I'm so happy to see the food scene develop and expand to newer heights. Bite certainly elevates the restaurant game and is a must-see spot to check out if you're in the area! In terms of location, it is right off most major highways and is one of the closest restaurants to Hackensack Hospital. With a private parking lot, spacious seating, and an expansive menu there is so much to like at Bite. In addition to a full coffee and juice bar, they offer a wide menu of items from sandwiches and salads to tacos and pizzas. We tried several items and were very impressed with how well put together each item was in terms of presentation, quality, and taste. While we dined in for lunch, they offer a separate breakfast menu that seemed just as enticing. I'll definitely be returning to try it out! The interior ambience is a real highlight of the Bite experience. The restaurant has large windows to allow for natural lighting to seep in, and has very modern decor that makes the dining experience all the more positive. I could see myself spending an afternoon chipping away at the menu while getting some work done on my laptop or having a quick meeting over a meal. Bite has done a great job of positioning itself as one of the newer, trendier restaurants to visit and frequent in the Hackensack area. I'm excited to return! read more

I've been three times already and all three times have been so enjoyable. I have dined those times and have not been disappointed. The vibe is really hipster. Right when you walk in there's a wall with their signature mantra "Eat Y'all". It's sooo cute for a photo-op so take advantage. Ordering is easy. There's a huge menu right where you order. They offer tons of food options from pizza to burgers to toasts so it's great for groups with different cravings! There's also lots of seating and very spacious. I've tried a few of their menu items: Mac and Cheese Skillet, The Essex, Avo Toast, Iced Matcha Latte, and Cold Brew. Everything has been tasty but I've enjoyed the drinks more than the food. The Essex was okay - I found my turkey sausage a little dry. My friend really enjoyed his Avo Toast and it tasted as good as it looked. The Mac and Cheese Skillet was just okay for me. Not cheesy enough but that could just be preference haha. Their service is really amazing. Personable people and they check in during your meal to make sure everything is to your liking. My most recent experience with ordering their Matcha Latte, the gentleman making it went above and beyond to make sure it was the tastiest it could be. Another notable thing is their self serve water/utensil station! It's always well stocked and I really like that instead of going back and forth asking for water I can get it easily myself. If there ever were an issue with my order like Lori had in previous post, wouldn't the intelligent thing to do is to speak up IN the moment? As someone who has worked in the restaurant business, I have never understood why customers don't just speak up in the present moment, period instead of posting lengthy negative reviews. Decided to check this spot out with my friend and was pleasantly surprised by all the great vegetarian options they had available. The menu is extensive and is almost a little intimidating with pizzas, tacos, toast, salads, burgers. Anything you could want from a brunch/lunch it's here. Oh and they also have a juice bar and coffee. The spot is huge and has ample seating, it's perfect for quick meet up with a friend or a study spot to grab a light lunch with coffee or juice. Also plenty of parking outside. We tried the fish tacos, avo toast, black bean burger, and the impossible burger. Everything was loaded with guac and especially on the fish tacos, it was a great addition. Definitely recommend the fish tacos and also the impossible burger if you haven't yet tried it. The Cajun fries were TERRIBLE. They literally just threw Cajun seasoning on top and didn't even bother blending it. We order delivery from Bite several times per month. It's one of our go-to take out places. Yes, they are a bit expensive, but the food is high quality. I've never bitten into any grizzle or nasty stuff in their chicken or beef. The meat and veggies are always good. They also have fresh juices for the times we don't feel like pulling out our juicer to do it ourselves. Some of the things we order are the truffle fries, vegan burger (we're not vegan but this burger is tasty), burrata burger, fish tacos, chicken tacos, pizza and the quesadillas. The tacos do fall apart very quickly, but I guess that's to be expected since the food has to travel. They've never messed our order up but sometimes they have forgotten the sauces like chipotle ketchup or srichacha mayo, which is always a bummer when that happens because those 2 sauces are awesome. read more

Only thing- we usually order online in advance and the pickup time is never accurate. We come later than the time they give us and always have to wait longer. My boyfriend and I have been eyeing this place for a while now. We finally got around to trying it the other night and it was SO GOOD. I got the fish tacos which were nice and crispy on the outside, super moist on the inside, a little spicy but also light and refreshing with the slaw. My boyfriend got one of the farmer's bowls with tofu, butternut squash, avocado, and pesto zoodles. He loved it- the butternut squash was definitely a highlight and the bowl itself was just yummy and refreshing to eat. I've ordered from Bite several times via uber eats. Today I called them to ask a question & the Mgr says I should order on their website because it's cheaper. Ok cool! I order at 10:55, Eta says 11:40. My food arrives cold and 1/4 of my coffee is spilled at 12:24. I called back to let them know about the coffee... he apologized for the coffee and offered to refund me for it. Then when I mentioned the food was cold, he says nastily "Miss you're in Paterson!". The lunch menu was so diverse and (mostly) healthy and catered to everyone's tastes. From the salmon farm bowl to the mac and cheese-burger there was something delicious for everyone. The breakfast is so yummy (that omlette!!) The coffees are real top quality and I am fussy (I'm a kiwi) I loved the chai latte and the juices. Horrible food, I ordered a huevos Rancheros and a ginger lemonade while my girlfriend ordered fried chicken and waffle and a peach mango lemonade and a lemon glazed loaf. The order online menu and the workers acting like you don't even exist makes everything feel robotic and the taste of the food was disgusting!!!! What an awesome new spot! I found this on yelp when I was searching for a place to have a quick breakfast. I drive by every day but would have never known this was here! Upon entering you are greeted with an open esthetically pleasing interior and lots of comfortable seating. It's not a typical restaurant where you are seated by a host. You must order at the counter at the front, then they will bring your food to you. Everything we ordered was flavorful and a beautiful presentation. Will definitely be coming back here. First off, I LOVE THIS PLACE. With working from home, sometimes I need to get out for a change. I was at Bite Hackensack this morning to work for a few hours and also to enjoy a great cup of coffee. It was just myself and another person sitting at the tables. I nicely asked if she can lower the music just a little, only because I was about to take 2 quick zoom calls. She said she can't because they need to keep the music at a certain level, because of the noise in the kitchen.....OK!!! I have been there before and worked a little, and it was not an issue. I guess it has changed. The music then went up and I had to leave so heading to Starbucks, where I can work and have a little change. Disappointed that I cannot work there for a few hours, time to time. I am a loyal customer and always racking up rewards, but I guess this won't be a work for a few hours option in the future.
