Some food is great: banana bread French toast, avocado toast, sweet potato fries. Other dishes are just so-so with a heavy hand on both oil and sugar (shrimp bowl, brussels sprouts.) Very crowded when we came so we were seated in an empty back room with no decoration or ambience, and where we only saw the overworked service staff once in a great while. My advice: eat in the front room or the garden and avoid the back cavern. read more

Visiting Amherst as a possible place to move to. We were wondering the streets on a Sunday afternoon and by luck, found this one. Walked in and were unsure exactly what we were expected to do and it looked like nothing. The place was busy... very busy. The servers were milling around trying so hard to take care of everybody, but ignoring us to the point of irritation. We were left standing there for a good 5 minutes before anyone ever greeted us. If there is no regular host(ess) on duty but it is your designated job, you need to drop what you're doing and take care of it. Leaving me standing and waiting to get a seat without greeting or acknowledging that I'm there, is a faux pas difficult to recover from. Finally seated we were greeted by our server Jenna. When she had time she was pleasantly conversant with us and after talking for awhile about possibly moving there she said, "I really want you guys to move here. It's such a great place to live." Now, I don't know if she was working the tip to make up for lost time or what. I guess it didn't matter because whatever she was doing it almost made it ok that we were left standing. From that point forward we were well taken care of. However, the time left standing on entering kind of lost them a star. I think we'll go back and allow them to make up for it. What I had I loved: Mediterranean Grilled Fish. They gave you a choice of Tuna, Swordfish or Salmon, and I had the tuna because there was no guarantee of the salmon being wild and it's moot because it's the east coast. Swordfish is never a good choice. I'm not sure you can get wild caught Pacific salmon there. I'll just have to investigate that. The tuna was grilled & served over organic mixed greens topped with cherry tomatoes, capers, calamata olives, feta cheese & fresh basil. All those flavors were just meant for each other and when you top it off with a nice Pinot Grigio, well, there ya have it. My daughter and I decided we would go out for dinner for risotto. We walked in and there was a party of 3 in front of us. It was 7:55pm. The waitress told us "please wait I will be right with you" there were lots of open seats both at the bar and the chairs. The waitress ran around for the next 5 minutes. She then seats the 3 in front of us. The waitress comes back over to us and looks at her phone, it is 8:01pm she tells me "ohhhhh i am so sorry we can't seat anyone after 8:00pm because of a private party" I asked if she was joking she said it was after 8 so no she wasn't joking. I told her she had only seconds before sat the people in front of me and that I was in before 8pm. "I am so sorry we can't seat anyone else, have a nice night" Seriously?! read more

This review is for our rehearsal dinner for our wedding: My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner at Bistro 63 in December 2017. Melanie and Alyssa were INCREDIBLE. They coordinated our event and they were professional and kind. They were incredibly responsive to the dozens of emails from myself and my husband as well as my mother-in-law. We had our rehearsal in the space as we couldn't have it at our venue because they had another event that evening. Melanie and Alyssa were so accommodating to this. We had a delicious dinner of short ribs, salmon, and risotto. My dad has Celiac disease (gluten allergy) and they were very attentive to this. We had an open bar and they even created signature cocktails for us (which we loved as well as our guests!) Several other restaurants in the Amherst area were incredibly expensive and one would have even required us to rent out the entire restaurant. Bistro 63 has a private back room that is open and airy, along with a projector to show a slide show (which we did) and we were able to play our own playlist music through my husband's phone hooked up to their speaker system. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law brought in flowers from Whole Foods to decorate and Melanie and Alyssa were super helpful in the planning and execution of the decor. We are so pleased that we had our rehearsal dinner at Bistro 63. The food was great, the service was perfect and it was a lovely celebration to start off our wedding weekend. read more

Sasha and her team made every effort to be flexible and helpful at every turn, especially as we had attendees with various food allergies. Came here for my 20th birthday and came out to a very big bill for two people however it was worth the money, food came out fairly quick, service was good and the restaurant was not packed at the time as we came for lunch. Sat down and waited 15 minutes before anyone came to take our drink order. Then sat for 13 minutes and waited for our drinks while our waitress walked around and chatted with everyone but us. I literally threw my arms in the air like a crazy person trying to get her attention and .... nothing. My friend recommended going to Antonio's Pizza place and I refused. That was my mistake. Probably the worst dining experience I have ever had. I went with two other people and we ordered within a reasonable amount of time- apps, (prepared) soups, drinks and entrees. Big tables came in and ordered after us and were served before and left before we even got our food. Before us it was empty with maybe two people at the bar. Two burgers and an entree dish took well over an hour. Never came over to the table unless we got up and asked for things they forgot such as drinks and limes and soups. I asked the host really nicely "Hi I ordered soup a little while ago and was wondering if you know how much longer it may be" she looked at me like I was idiot when oops all of a sudden a bowl of soup comes after I got up and asked. I've worked many jobs in the service industry it isn't neuroscience and I'm sorry but all the girls working there just seemed incompetent. And I ordered a medium well burger and it was bright pink. How is a piece of meat pink after ordering it an hour and a half ago. Do not go unless you want to be neglected for two hours in an EMPTY restaurant. read more

hehe this place is great. it's definitely worth eating here... even if it took us forever to find it simply because we are EXTREMELY dumb. the location is really nice, and the interior is so cute and comf. the food is good. i got a risotto, or rice oatmeal as my boyfriend calls it, and my boyfriend got fwied chimken. we also got banana breb fwench toast and vanilla ice cweam. we thought it was butter, but, no, it's ice cweam. very good. but by far, the best part of our entire experience was our server OWEN S. We loved him so much, and when I mean "love," i mean LOVE. he looked just like our fren and acted just like him, too. he also was very nice to us. if owen's your server, make sure to tip him at least 33% because he's just that cool. it was such an honor to meet him. Always wanting to try new places, this place came very highly recommended from the Yelp community. We arrived as a family of four around 5:30 for dinner, 2 adults and 2 preteens. Though there was space in the main dining room, we were ushered to a larger back dinning room which looks like it is used for functions. (large projector, substandard seating and folding tables) The menu is brief but has good options. Be for-warned there is no children's menu. We ordered a cheese plate as a sampler. It was very good and enjoyed by all. We were also given a bread basket with an olive oil dipping plate infused with anchovies, this on the other hand was not good at all. While waiting for our food, the music was weird but then changed over to explicit and profane rap music. After motioning to the staff we were told it was an iPod malfunction and the music was changed. Food arrives. Pasta with Alfredo for the kids. Went untouched and they both like pasta with Alfredo. Adults had chicken risotto and lamp shank. Both were average at best. While leaving the front dinning room was nearly full, about half with families. My initial thought when we were seated in the back was because we were a family but that did not hold true from the observation while leaving. Covid brought out the turbo boosters in this place... Delicious burgers with perfectly cooked onions and simply the perfect fries. Their chicken risotto is rich, filling, and satisfying. They provide meals to service workers during this time period and I for one will not soon forget how they stepped to the fore to help people. read more

We were a party of 7 and were shuffled to the back room where one other table was. It took 10 min for someone to greet us. After we ordered it took almost 45 minutes for our food to come out. The server never came out to give us an update or apologize for it being so late. It came out a few at a time, with 3 of us not having any food for at least 10 minutes. We were going to finally ask and the last few came out. My mother's omelette was disgusting. Very oily and cooked in what tasted like old grease on the skillet. It was burnt around the edges and the bread it came with was also burnt. She had to go find the server to tell her. She didn't want anything else. No manager to be seen who came up to us to apologize or anything. We also could not believe that French fries do not come with any of the sandwiches. Why? Never heard of that before. Took us almost 2 hours for lunch from the time we were seated to the time we paid and walked out. Will never go back there again. read more

Despite what its cozy and classy atmosphere may suggest, eating at Bistro 63 was a markedly underwhelming experience. I ordered an Arnold Palmer (half lemonade, half iced tea) and at first recieved a modified version with half lemon juice instead. Despite Arnold Palmers being of southern origin, it seems odd that the bar doesn't know how to make a drink that's on its drink menu. For the main course, I asked if they could put a veggie patty on their house burger, which instead of the veggie burger, comes with carmelized onions and a chipotle aioli. Despite the waitress's apparent understanding of my request, the burger came out with pickled onions and no aioli; the lettuce was wilted and the patty tasteless to boot. (It's worth noting that fries don't come with the $15 burger, which is, although not sinful, a letdown.) The meals of the other members in my party looked tasty enough, so I wouldn't say that coming here is a completely worthless venture. But I would rather spend my time and money elsewhere. read more

Ok so let me start by saying, our waiter Dom was lovely and you could tell he was doing the best he could but this restaurant is very clearly understaffed. The few waitstaff we did see were busting their butts but constantly apologizing for the wait. Me and 2 friends were at this restaurant on a Wednesday night for well over 2 hours for a drink, app and a burger. The wait times for our food was insane. The burgers have a "pink" or "no pink" option when ordering and the no pink which i was assured wouldn't be over cooked was...just that, overcooked. No sides come with the burgers either which, for the price is pretty disappointing. Our side dishes came out about half hour before our mains and it took ages to get another drink. I wouldn't mind eating here again but they CLEARLY need more staff! read more

What an excellent experience we had eating dinner here last night! My daughter and granddaughter raved about the seafood risotto, and my Portuguese seafood stew was delectable! Waitress was attentive and patient as three of us had special dietary needs. We were brought in by the nice decor and promise of $1 HH oysters. The oysters were just okay (but for a buck, thats fine), the pasta dish was... confusing. Maybe they have a good burger or lobster roll but places don't get 5 stars on the staple. The service was similarly confusing. Our entrees came out before the teas we ordered..? We shared 2 starters--burrata and charcuterie--and then each of us had a different main dish--barramundi with a mild curry flavor, chicken caesar, a burger, and an omelette. We were all very pleased with the quality and portion size of our meals. Our server, Julia, was also first-rate--very pleasant and attentive. I have been to Bistro a couple of times, and each time it gets a little bit worse. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich (which is extremely overpriced for what you get but that is besides the point). I ate a little less than half before having to spit some out because the chicken was not cooked all the way through. When I called the manager over, he took my plate and walked away before I was even able to finish my sentence, not giving me the time to express that I had lost my appetite and no longer wanted the sandwich. I was not comped for my meal and had to pay over $20 for a meal I was too nauseous to eat. On top of it all, the manager was 'joking around' and made a very rude and judgmental comment to some of my friends. We stopped in for a quick bite to eat before heading to an appointment. We didn't have much time and the hostess suggested we sit at the bar. We were greeted by a friendly bartender who suggested a few items that would be quick. My husband ordered the grilled Caesar salad and I had the dinner salad and we shared the cup of lobster chowder. The chowder was delicious and flavorful. The salads also hit the spot. The grilled Caesar was a unique salad and prepared in a way I'll have to try at home! I'll let you order it to find out for yourself. It was really good!! The dinner salad was fresh, a nice portion and homemade lemon vinaigrette dressing. When the bartender learned of our celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary, he added a little something special to our night.
