Their food was incredible. They are so dedicated to local food and so legit in their connection to local farms. They were so on point with in creating a menu for us based on our vague ideas about what it would be. More than all this they were thoughtful, genuine, and generally good people. Not being able to sample the food that was on the menu was a leap of faith on our part, but our confidence in Wheelhouse was rewarded by their incredible food and expert coordination. The Food: We chose Wheelhouse because of their commitment to local food, but for the benefit of everyone else reading our review I'll describe how delicious it was. Bottom line - they won rave reviews from our foodie friends as well as our meat- and- potatoes family. In our experience, wedding catering usually means sad, bland vegetables and dry meat. Not only was their beef juicy and full of flavor, but all of the vegetables tasted so fresh and the flavors of each one came through. Neither of us really like cauliflower, but we LOVED the cauliflower dish they made. For our meat dishes, it was this excellence in produce that really gave an added dimension to the dishes (in addition to cooking the meat just right). AND when they had to bring in an outside vendor (like the pies that we wanted for dessert) they really chose the best around. That being said their initial cheese selection for our appetizers was underwhelming, but they were completely willing to work with us on this and the final version day of was fantastic. Organization/ Logistics: They were by far the most organized vendor at our wedding, despite feeling the most small-scale and personable. Our wedding was very bespoke/ a la carte/ choose your own adventure, and they followed us effortlessly through all of the details, weird requests, and special considerations of our wedding. They never came to us with setbacks or complications. They were really good about checking in, and structured our interactions in the months leading up to the wedding so that we were all on the same page with the many, many details to keep track of. Day-of Logistics: They were so unobtrusive and friendly, despite unpleasant surprises from other vendors. When our rental company failed to deliver some items and put others in odd places, they helped pick up the pieces. When our venue went back on its word as to where they could put their cooking tent they rolled with it. When we decided day-of to hold our photoshoot where they needed to work they were so good about working through it. Personal touches: It's no coincidence that they gave us exactly what we wanted in terms of food. They paid close attention when we told them our preferences were and were genuinely attuned to our likes and dislikes. During the planning process I mentioned how I always go back for seconds at wedding buffets. Based on this aside, they gave me a HUGE platter of food, which we both found to be so touching, special, and funny. Tipping: Their guideline to us was that if we were pleased with the job they did we should tip 10-20%. Not totally unheard of but worth mentioning since different caterers do it differently.

The fridge was at the coldest temperature, and not only were the rosebuds frozen, but the foam-thingy that holds water was frozen. The bridesmaid's bouquets were ok as most of them were in a different fridge, but my cascading, bridal bouquet was toast. We called Nuttleman's, and not only did they make a new one on the spot, but they gave us some spare baby's breath to help clean up some of the bridesmaids bouquets. I was prepared to pay an arm and a leg for these services, since we literally had no other choice, but they were kind and did not gouge us. The new bouquet matched the rest of the flowers, and my pictures came out beautifully. You know how it goes, the people you love want to lend a hand, and often their opinions about decor and layout and design are...their own. Michelle made sure our needs were met through the melee. We had a truly "diy" wedding. We bought and designed the lighting, hauled in and laid out the floral work, hand-made favors and place cards and decorated our cake. We came armed with sticks and fabric panels and a myriad of gold spray-painted accessories. On the Friday before our wedding, we were allowed to come in and set up with the Mill 1 staff following our design plan and instruction, and we could not have been happier about how it turned out. What a perfect celebration. The vendors we were given to choose from for catering were great, the bridal "ready room" was comfortable, and a beautiful setting for photos, and we just cannot be thankful enough for everything. If you're here looking for a fresh, green, and original space to get married or host an event, this space far exceeded my expectations, down to the extreme cleanliness of everything - including the shiny wood floors. I've been involved in a few weddings, and my thoughts about the pictures have always been "eh...there ok", I've also noticed that during the whole "picture taking time", everyone is cranky and just wants to get it over with. My husband and I first chose Angela because she made an effort to come to our house to interview with us on a weeknight (she lives almost 2hrs away) and because she was very friendly and super sweet. She showed us all of her equipment, went over her website with us, and she even went over HER favorite photographer's website to show us the kind of work she is inspired by and emulates. We are glad we chose her because not only did she show up on time the day of our wedding, she was fantastic at giving tips and suggestions to me (non picture related) while I was getting ready and she had a way of putting me at ease. I hardly knew she was there all day and she made sure to get all the shots that I asked for and some that I didn't but ended up loving. She was even able to get great pictures of people that I haven't seen stop and pose for a picture EVER. She was young and fun, and she made sure the portrait pictures that everyone finds insufferable, were done in a fast and efficient manner. The other reason we really liked her was that she had a very photojournalistic approach to her photography. While she was very aware of the desire for regular posed portraits, she made sure to capture a lot of the little "moments" that make the most memorable and treasured pictures. On top of all that, she was very reasonably priced and was willing to work with us on the different packages that she had available, mixing and matching what we wanted and needed with our budget. She also travels all over NE, and is willing to do destination weddings if her schedule allows. The only negative thing I could possibly say about her, which isn't really negative was that she uses pictage.com to post your pictures on after for an online proof viewing. She passed around a sheet at the wedding for guests to put their email on it and they would be sent a link to the pictures. I just wish she would have let me seen the website BEFORE everyone else, that way I could make some of the photo's private if I didn't like the way I looked or the way something came out, but other than that I think it's a great idea that the guests can see all the professional ones without having to pay for them. That was until Angela Greenlaw, our wedding photographer, arrived (early) to set up, introduce herself to the wedding party and take a few "pre-ceremony" pictures of me in my wedding dress on the terrace. Well, I had clearly underestimated Angela's dedication and love of her job. She caught my eye, looked up at the sky and said to me and my husband, "Crazy idea guys, I know you were planning on heading to the cocktail hour after the ceremony but the sunset is so gorgeous...would you possibly want to head down to the beach to get a few sunset shots?" Just one of the MANY reasons why Angela is so awesome. Now picture this; a bride in her wedding dress, a groom in his tuxedo, a videographer and two photographers with all of their gear RUNNING to catch the perfect sunset picture on the beach. I'm not kidding, we actually RAN to the beach. FYI - Angela also possesses the rare ability to run while simultaneously taking amazing photos. YEP, she's THAT good. Not only did we make it to the beach, we made it there JUST in time to catch the most breathtakingly beautiful sunset I have ever seen. Everything was perfect; the lighting, the water, my husband... the list continues. It was there, on the beach, that I realized how truly blessed my husband and I were to have Angela as our wedding photographer. Her unique ability to capture the beauty of the sunset while simultaneously portraying the raw emotions that my husband and I were feeling is the most precious gift anyone has ever, and most likely will ever, give us. Angela not only met our expectations, she far exceeded them with her exceptionally high quality of work, personability, professionalism and love of what she does. She is not just a photographer.
