Let me start by saying that Marx Entertainment provided both DJ services and Photo Booth services for our wedding. We were very unhappy with the DJ but happy with the Photo Booth set up and staff. My husband and I had DJ Craig for our wedding in September 2023. We had two meetings with him beforehand were we discussed how we would like the night to run. In addition to a list of "must-play" songs (something we were encouraged to complete), we discussed how we would like our table-dash, anniversary dance, alumni photo, and private dance to operate. We also noted on multiple occasions during both calls that we DID NOT want a lot of remixes. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with how DJ Craig managed all of these aspects except for the table dash and private dance. Here is where our issues lie: - Out of our 30 or so must play songs maybe half were played. - As laid out on the Marx Entertainment website we chose a "last song" for the dance floor. DJ Craig played the song we designated as our last song as a way to open the dance floor. - The first 30 minutes were exclusively remixes and bad ones at that. It got to the point where we said something to DJ Craig, and while the music did get better, he still continued to play remixes. Honestly, a Spotify playlist would have been better. - The anniversary dance was something DJ Craig suggested and we loved the idea. However, instead of doing what he had described to us where he starts calling people off the dance floor after some dancing and starting with short time increments, DJ Craig called for anyone married for less than 5 years to leave the dance floor after approximately 20 seconds. People hadn't even REACHED the dance floor to start dancing at that point, including the parents of the groom. Not to mention we are a young couple and that kicked more than half of the people off the dance floor in one sweep. - College alumni photo was announced at a very weird time and very rushed. Just felt awkward - We were immediately asked once the lights turned on to provide a positive video review for DJ Craig. This was extremely uncomfortable and we gave dishonest feedback during it. We would NOT recommend him. Like I said previously, the Photo Booth staff was excellent and we loved the book they made us. We also had no issues with booking or prior communication with Marx. While the set up and logistical execution of the event went well we didn't feel our opinions were considered at all in song selection and that the fun mini-events we had throughout the night went poorly read more

We used MARX Entertainment for our wedding. They were easy going before the big day making sure they had all our speciality music. Day of they arrived ahead of time and set up both the ceremony area and reception area. they selected excellent music and our guests had a blast. read more

Marx Entertainment did an exceptional job with our wedding ceremony and reception. They provided a dedicated online portal where we could easily share lists of our song preferences and we were also able to meet both over the phone and in person with our DJ prior to the event to discuss details. Our DJ, Manu, went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure a successful event. He was in touch with us via phone and text a few days prior to finalize details, he arrived several (4-5!) hours early to make sure everything was set up correctly and sounding great, and once things got started I don't think he took even a 5 minute break! The music was great, he was a welcoming and enthusiastic MC, and I can't think of a single complaint. He even thanked US at the end for such a fun and warm event. We were so happy. When searching for a DJ for our wedding, I'll admit, we had some challenging requirements. Chief amongst which, is that our DJ was fluent in Polish and be familiar with certain cultural wedding traditions, as the bride's family is largely native Polish speakers. DJ Tommy Sands was our guy. When we first met with DJ Tommy, it was clear he was much different from the other DJs we'd met in the past. He had a great sense of timing events surrounding the wedding, and how to make things run smoothly. I'll never forget when he gave us a tip saying that no matter how much he encouraged people to dance, we as the wedding couple needed to lead by example. Boy was he right!! Whenever we danced, the floors filled, and it was hilarious to observe the effect. Throughout the night, DJ Tommy would show to be our guiding light. When times were a bit off from the schedule, he made thoughtful and insightful suggestions on how to shift things around and keep things running smoothly. His calm and positive attitude helped *us* remain calm and positive. He even managed to help us avoid the bride's mother who was being particularly difficult at times! read more

My husband and I planned an intimate wedding of 40 people during the COVID pandemic. At the beginning of our planning process we had to change our date and venue a few times due to restrictions. The owner of MARX called, texted, and emailed multiple times. His persistence was at times off putting. However, we did end up booking with them since they were able to work with us a little on pricing which we appreciated. The one plus of booking with MARX was their online system. There you could input song requests, must plays, do not plays and your event timeline. We spoke with our DJ Jared a month before the wedding on the phone in a very relaxed conversation. There we provided phonetic spellings of all of the wedding party and parents that would be introduced. I even followed up with DJ Jared on email with a word doc to further confirm all of the phonetic spellings of the intros. In that conversation DJ Jared never mentioned anything in regards to not being able to approach the DJ at the event due to COVID policy etc. At our wedding DJ Jared completely mispronounced almost all of the names that were being announced in. At times he even announced the wrong person at the wrong time. DJ Jared played full songs without transitioning to the next when a song would "die out" per say- to the point that songs got a bit sickening. When guests tried to make requests DJ Jared would throw up his hands and say "woah back up" or "way too close" to them. This was done so much that some guests informed my husband and I and asked if we could talk to him instead because DJ Jared was "completely ignoring them". If it wasn't for the MARX Entertainment online system I would score this review lower- that was their one "saving grace". read more

This past weekend we hosted our 2nd Bar Mitzvah in Tolland. My past experience with a DJ service was not great- they were really just kind of lame- in general and they didn't really understand what kind of event we were having. Things went so much better for a number of reasons; * I told them my budget and they worked with it, apparently it really doesn't hurt to ask. * They set me up with a great guy who met with my son and I. He understood that we didn't want all the usual things wanted to keep it less Bar Mitzvah-ish - no candle lighting, motzi etc. But he had lots of experience with Bar Mitzvahs and could have done any of the things we choose not to do- and I believe do them tastefully. * We had a plan (because we had met!)- We actually didn't get to do all of the things we planned to but better to have had too much then not enough. Things that were not perfect; Apparently something wasn't packed just right and the DJ had to leave for 20 minutes. I think if he hadn't had to do that the party would have started at a better pace. Not really blaming him- he did what he could/had to do- I trust, but I do think the event suffered a small amount. I will always suggest to get things going with The Hora! ( at least at a Bar Mitzvah!)- once we did that, people that had not been willing to get up and come out to dance were up and on the floor , I think if we had done that from the start- more people would have stayed the whole time. I have another son- so that is something I will remember! Generally I was really satisfied- I felt like I knew my DJ and he knew us- and that really is a better way to go than having some surprise guy show up like my 1st experience. read more

We used Marx for our daughter's Bat Mitzvah in 2016 and had a wonderful experience. The MC Austin and the DJ were amazing and all of our guests were raving about the party. When it came time for our second daughter's Bat Mitzvah this spring we enthusiastically hired Marx again. Unfortunately this time around we were extremely disappointed. The MC was awful. He pronounced both of my daughters' names incorrectly during the introductions and there was big chunks of time when the kids were not being entertained and the adults were not engaged. Many of my friends asked me why I did not use the same entertainment company this time around because the entertainment at my older daughter's Bat Mitzvah was far superior. At the end of the night my husband and I were very disappointed but still gave the crew a tip since we felt obligated. The following day, I reached out to Mark Ashe, the owner, to express my concerns. He listened to my complaints and told me he would speak to his employees and get back to me. A few days went by and I never heard back so my husband called him. Mark basically called my husband a liar. He said we must have been satisfied because we gave the entertainers a tip. I was shocked. We gave half the amount of a tip that we gave previously because we were not happy with the service but still felt obligated to tip. Again, he told my husband he would speak to his staff and get back to us. Again we never heard from him. We were not looking for monetary compensation, just acknowledgment for Mark that he was sorry for the team's performance. Finally, I emailed Mark again asking him to call. Instead of calling, he sent me and email basically siding with his staff and again calling us liars. He offered us $100 gift card to the Delany House which I just found insulting. I have never been treated so unprofessionally. In a small town like Longmeadow, these companies survive and thrive by word of mouth referrals. I will never refer them and all of our friends with upcoming Bar and Bat Mitzvahs have already told us they will not be using Marx after hearing how our family was treated. read more

I recently hosted an event in Southwick, MA and I hired Marx Entertainment as the DJing service. I honestly can't say enough good things about them. From the time I met Mark I knew he would be my vendor of choice! I described to him what type of party I was hosting, western themed, and he knew exactly what type of music to provide. Mark provided me with a great DJ, Spencer. He arrived 30 minutes early, which was great because it was a surprise party. We had a wonderful experience with Marx Entertainment! We used them for DJ, Photo Booth and Uplighting at The Society Room. The owner, Mark, was a pleasure to work with and highly professional. DJ Tommy S was awesome. He made sure the night ran smoothly and the dance floor was always full. He helped us to create a playlist for cocktail hour/dinner that reflected our musical tastes and kept the energy level high on the dance floor until the very last song. The photo booth girls put together an adorable book with all our guests photos that we'll get to keep and the uplighting was a perfect touch in such an elegant venue. Absolutely recommend MARX entertainment, specifically Jared. Jared was our wedding DJ and in addition to being incredible at his job, he was my favorite vendor out of all of the wedding professionals I worked with. Upon first meeting Jared he was not overly forward. He listened to what we had to say and made us feel confident that he could do the job in a way that we would be satisfied. This confidence was swelled dramatically when we had our detail meeting with Jared. He went over every small detail so that we could be sure the evening would run smoothly. He made suggestions to help with flow, and gave us ideas for places in the evening where we could incorporate our own specific choices in music. The night of the wedding Jared was my go-to vendor when dinner ran behind schedule, he checked in periodically to make sure I could plan for the rest of the night to accomplish everything we had in the schedule. Marx Entertainment came Highly recommended and with good reason. My daughters Sweet 16 was the best Sweet 16 we have yet to see. The photo booth (omg, a must for ALL teenage parties) had guests of all ages waiting in line w/the props provided. It was hilarious and then theres the unforgettable Memory Book their staff put together as our gift. The vibrant lights luminating the room, the professionalism, oh and not to mention we didn't have a dj, we had a dj, a vj and 2 members tending to the photo booth. Just incredible. Marx Entertainment is absolutely the best. They were highly recommended by Chez Josef as the person who then owned Chez Josef used Marx Entertainment for all their family Bar/Bat Mitzvahs. I had not heard of Marx Entertainment before as I only moved to West Hartford, Connecticut from New Hampshire then only 5 years prior. Marx Entertainment provided all the entertainment for our triplets' Eric, Hannah, and Heather B'nai Mitzvah on May 12, 2012. We had 210 kids (5 school buses) and 149 adults at the reception in Chez Josef. Marx Entertainment brought 24 staff members in addition to Mark himself. So many of the kids and adults (plus parents of the kids afterwards) said it was the very best party they ever went to ... the kids said the very best party they went to all their years at school. The theme was a night club "Studio 3" and it was indeed the ultimate. The DJ set up, production, songs, lighting, mirror ball, gobe name projections, live music video show with huge TV projections, live camera of dance floor, 6 amazing dancers, floor games, interaction with the kids, cool and big "bouncers" for the kids, monitors for the 5 school buses, security, green screen & photo booth and multiple games of basketball & football & air hockey & giant wii & giant ddr & NASCAR racing & Air Brush hats & Xbox game stations & etc etc etc were all the most outstanding. To be able to run such a fantastic ultimate party for 210 kids plus 149 adults says something in itself and also with the kids saying it was the very best party they ever went to in their lives and adults saying the same. Many of our family and friends are from New York and so many said it was as good if not better than the very best reception they ever went to in New York. To be able to have a party that works for so many kids and also the adults where everyone had such a great time and was so involved says so much for Marx Entertainment. We planned the event for over 2 years with lots of meetings with Mark and his staff. Mark and his entire staff are the nicest, really caring, professional, and really know the business of entertainment. Also want to thank Chez Josef, ANNvitations, Schaler Photography, and Myers Video Production. Everyone is the best there is and made the very best event of a lifetime. read more
