The food was fine, but there was nothing that has me wanting to return. Our meals took a shockingly long time to arrive.

My wife and I came here around Christmas in the afternoon for a couple of drinks and a snack. It's a nice little bar with friendly bartenders. One of the bartenders -- Emmy - made my wife a custom cocktail which my wife really enjoyed. I was not feeling so adventurous so I stuck with a couple of beers. We got seated right away, it was quite quiet as it was a Tuesday night. Service was really friendly and very attentive. The food was tasty. The Crazy Alfredo was good if a bit greasy, and the Bengal Shrimp was super flavorful and tasty. The prices were high, but not unreasonable, and the ambience was well managed, and everything was clean and well prepared. If we lived in the area, we would definitely be returning! read more

This may the first all-American restaurant I've ever been to that overseasons their food. The Crazy Alfredo was decent but the fried pickles were wayyyy too salty, so much so that my boyfriend and I couldn't finish them even after asking our waitress for extra sauce. The total for both dishes came to 29.96 excluding tip. However, the service here was very good with our waitress being super friendly. She was really attentive and even brought out lids for the sauces with the takeout boxes which was a welcome surprise. The restaurant itself seems more suited to dinner time and drinks so perhaps I'll come back again when I plan to have a boozy dinner and will reach a different conclusion about the food. read more

This place was disappointing. The food was expensive and mediocre. Best part of the place was the kind waitstaff. Bar was alright as well.

On the positive: the house sauvignon blanc was remarkable for the $9.00 and the pour was quite generous. The Caesar salad was great, very generous portion, too, tons of anchovies and they thankfully, didn't drown it dressing. But. Not to be uncharitable but my waiter needs to find other employment because he tried but so, so failed! First, there is only one male server and I observed the others servers were a lot more responsive and efficient with their guests. Like Charlie Brown at Halloween, I am the lucky one that got the rock. First of all, it took him 7 minutes to greet me, the servers, I noticed were at their tables w/in 2-3 minutes. The entree was cold-scallops which were ok but I am sure they probably would taste better if they were HOT-which was odd because they came on the heels of the appetizer. All I took in stride because I remember my struggles when I started to wait on tables as a young student at UMASS in the 80's. But what I could not forgive was the coffee. Or the lack there of. At 6:40, I asked for a coffee and the check as I was going to see Avery Sharpe at the Drake. He gave the bill with the coffee on it and said it would be coming soon. Five minutes later, I look to the coffee station which is right in front to the chef's window. There was a pot of decaf on the bottom burner and a pot of on top with maybe a one cup's worth left. He had several times when going to pick up other orders to start a new pot. But he didn't. I changed my tip from the more than magnanimous 18% to 15% and then 10%. Dude, all you had to do is get me a cup of coffee. If you can't do something basic, please find something else to do because you are wasting everyone's time. read more

It was my third time back in a couple of years. Compared to my initial visit and the birthday event hosted after, I was disappointed. The service was great by their waiter Enzo, but the food was not. Even the decorations seemed to have down graded as they have a more formal touch before. We shared a house salad and bowl of clam chowder as a starter. Chowder was moderate in taste but a little watery in my opinion. Can't complain about the salad as we always have to have a veggie and although they didn't ask which dressing we wanted, we liked the balsamic vinegar they ended up giving. For entrees my friend ordered their burger, crazy Alfredo with the peppers on the side (scared it might be too spicy), and I ordered the jambalaya. The burger was good being juicy and salty. The fries were crispy and delicious. Alfredo was thick but certainly not the best I've had before. The jambalaya was a huge disappointment. It resembled a chili because of the amount of kidney beans mixed into the rice. On top of it being bland and dry, I got food poisoning that same night. It's the little things that make the difference and in the case of Bistro 63, it's a lot of little things. To start, when you walk in you get the sense you that your in a space that hasn't seen any TLC in awhile. The walls need a coat of paint and some patching, the mirrors cleaned, the floor cleaned and patched (should get a new floor altogether), and a hinge or spring should be put on the front door so it doesn't bang after it's been opened, which happens a lot because of the dining patio out front. The dining tables probably saw their heydays in the 70s. There is a nice chalk board near the bar with a listing of the beer on tap with little hand drawings next to the beers. Only problem is that it seems it is more for show than functionality since none of the beers listed were on tap. Go figure. So we took our seat and after finding out the chalkboard beers were nonexistent, perused the drink menu. They had a pretty decent assortment of gins including Monkey 47, which was only $15. It's usually twice this price in a NYC bar. However, when inquiring about getting bottled tonic (think Fever Tree or Q) said they only had tonic from the soda gun. Yum, just what you want with a high end gin. The menu has a number of choices for starters, handhelds, and entrees. Sort of an eclectic choice of items with a Mediterranean/Asian feel to them. We started with a cup of the lobster bisque which was served with oyster cracker (a non-sarcastic yum) and was very good. For our main meal we ordered the Barramundi (an Asian sea bass) over a medley of rice and summer squash with a curry sauce topped with a bed of greens. This was very good. The curry was sweet, not very spicy and complimented the rice and squash medley. After being asked if we were interested in dessert (of course we are), the selection included a monkey pie and tiramisu. We were told the monkey pie was made with bananas and chocolate sauce. Great, we'll try the monkey pie. Ten minutes later we were told they were out of monkey pie. Hmmmm, considering it was a Saturday night, not that busy, two dessert choices, how do you not have one of the desserts offered (rhetorical question)? The food was good, our server was pleasant, but the other issues will keep us from returning. read more

Wife and I came for date night and sat in the covered balcony area upstairs. $100 for two of us, including drinks and tip, which I found to be reasonable. We both house salads, which were quite fresh and possibly local. I had the "crazy Alfredo" and she had blackened scallops on a cheese,squash, and bacon risotto. Both were expertly prepared and well-seasoned. The place is a bit chaotic, even with only 1/4 of the tables populated, because they are trying to do some sort of communal rotating service which isn't working at all for anybody. read more

Overall: Cozy American Italian restaurant serving up mouthwatering food. Super friendly service as they helped us walk in without a reservation. Food: the risotto was all kinds of heavenly creaminess. A hallmark of a good risotto is the creamy broth matching the protein used (chicken). The richness of the risotto was perfectly balanced by the lightness of the chicken flavor enabling me to devour the entire dish. The tiramisu at the end was a perfect finish to a decadent culinary experience. Although a slightly more upscale take on the tiramisu, Bistro does a splendid job of perfectly layering all the flavors in a complementary manner. Ambience/Service/Decor: a very compact restaurant with a full bar. Very emblematic of the small town vibes of Amherst. While we didn't have a reservation (highly recommended to make one) the hostess was extremely helpful in trying to get us seated and allowed us enough airspace to converse while regularly checking on us. read more

It was nice to be offered the choice between sitting inside and outside and we chose the window by the front window. Terrible!!! Fried pickles were soggy. Drinks mediocre at best but the icing on the cake.... I ordered a grilled chicken Caesar salad. I received a grilled head of lettuce. Not sure who likes warm salad but not me! when I mentioned to waiter that this was not my order he just told me that there were two different Caesar salads on menu. He did offer to have them make me something else, but he never came to check on us after dropping off food. At that point we were done. Never again! read more

The food was great. Can't complain at all. Burgers were good. Good size. Fries were good too .. only issue was their customer service. We was there about 2+ hours for 2 burgers and a 1fry. People around us were asked if everything was good and sorry about the wait ...skipped me and my hubby went to next family. Next family got their food before us. We were there 1/2 hr before them. Was on a little girls getaway weekend and was driving backroads from the Berkshires back home to Boston and my SIL was craving a Lobster roll so off to Yelp she went and we found Bistro 63, we ordered a few things, the Poutine and as much as it was DELISH, it wasn't poutine like you would think, it was essentially cheese fries with bacon, but I mean - Cheese fries - you cant go wrong! I got a Bloody Mary which was great, their inhouse mix was delish! Lobster Roll was good, but the Risotto, OMG... THE RISOTTO!!! I would literally drive back this weekend to get more, The flavors in it were crazy, the wine, the tomatoes, the veggies. It was soo fresh and tasty. Sam - He was also the best, he was a joy to sit with and am seriously considering a road trip back just to visit Sam & eat the Risotto. Popped in for dinner while visiting a college locally. Easy parking in the back lot but the entrance is confusing, kind of setting the tone for the full experience. We walked in through the back porch entrance and then made our way through what seemed like a service hallway to the front. The signs said the host stand was that direction but we couldn't find one. However, the waitress rolling silverware helped us get seated. She also seemed to be the only person working outside then kitchen even though upon seating is she said someone would be coming to serve us. So many menus. And those don't even include the bar menu which this place seems to share a name with. They have a "rolling kitchen" meaning food comes out whenever which doesn't make a lot of sense for a menu that isn't sharing dishes. Like my dining companion eats his burger and then my sandwich arrives halfway through? Food was fine, nothing to write home about. Reasonable prices. Place needs a good scrub down generally. But what saved the day was that seemingly only waitress/hostess/busser/manager Claire who was lovely, never seemed frazzled and was all around wonderful in a mixed bag of an evening. read more

If I had to use one word to use for this review, it would be AVOID!!! The service is so slow and I'm not sure if anybody has a clue as to what to do here. We went to visit our daughter at college and took her out for lunch here. It wasn't overly busy. We counted 7 tables with people inside and thought there were 2 groups outside. We ordered a burger, caesar salad and the BLT plus an order of fries. The staff was so slow and inattentive they didn't even come to see if we needed refills on our drinks. We waited close an hour before the first plate came out which was the salad. A little later the BLT came out then my burger 5 minutes after that, which was missing the bacon I ordered. None of the food was worth the wait. I'd say you might want to try to go someplace else instead of Bistro 63 until they can get their stuff together. We won't be going back here again. read more

The menu has an explicit note that various items are served a separate times. I guess the cook can't or won't order the preparation of two meals so they are ready at about the same time. This meant that my wife received her butternut squash soup 20 min. before my French fries. Then my hamburger was served 10 minutes after the fries??? Even worse, the soap was bland and not really warm enough. My "pink" burger was black outside and grey inside. Thus, the chef not only can't order items, he also can't cook very well either, at least that evening. When we left at 7 on a Saturday night, the restaurant was empty, meaning the locals know it not is not worthy of a return visit. We too will not return. read more

See pictures for all the tables filled with dirty dishes...these were here the ENTIRE 45min we were there. Staff was aloof to the needs of their patrons. People who were waiting to sit were leaving because there were no tables, but all the staff had to do was clean the tables. Food was adequate but not 5 stars like some stated on Yelp. Poutine had way too much "cheese sauce", burger was too pricey for just a burger (came with absolutely nothing as a side), and the mac-n-cheese was drowning in truffle oil making it uneatable. I love to eat at bars and this is one place I will never come back to. I question if those who are giving 5 starts are just college students who just don't know any better? Should have gone with my gut and walked out when nobody came to even say hello for the first 10min. read more

Our Bartender Naomi was fantastic! Super friendly, very knowledgeable and we had a great first time here. We ordered a few cocktails: A Hot Cocoa Milano, Espresso Carda-martini and Don Fulano Anejo. I didn't love the cocktails, but they were still good. The Bistro is very hip, and artsy feel to it which was very cool. We also ordered the hand-cut fries, absolutely my fave. Been here a few times and always had a pleasant experience. Good, reliable restaurant. I do wish they had more dessert options. I got the French toast which was a little heavy on the syrup and sweetness, and I wished they had given me more ice cream. The risotto was good, but extremely heavy. Incredibly impressed by this small but super awesome spot, located in Amherst center. We were there for a late lunch, starting with the white poutine which was Incredible. Seriously considered going to Applebees around minute 40... Can't review food since I am writing this while waiting but hopefully it comes out warm. read more

Bland, tired, terrible service. Table not set, menus dropped in the center for us to sort out amongst ourselves. Very, very slow paced service despite being nearly empty, maybe one other table? Had to ask for silverware and napkins. Server never cleared glasses or dishes that we were done with until the entrees arrived and she literally couldn't set them down because our app plates were in the way. When we asked her to clear she said "Uh, I've got a lot going on right now" Wow. Food was really lackluster, bland and tasteless. Most of us didn't finish our meals. Avoid at all costs. read more

I ordered a bloody mary, they had no bloody mary mix ( yep , you don't need a mix, you just need to know how to use simple ingredients) I ordered a glass of pinot grigio, its the only wine by the glass they do not offer. I ordered noodles in peanut sauce. I should have read the menu more carefully. Even if I had, I doubt I would of believed that this dish includes calamata olives. Yep, horrible! Service is spotty. we had Easter brunch (2024) at this restaurant. Three of us ordered the Eggs Benedict. All 3 entrees were cold with congealed sauce atop English muffins that I couldn't cut with a knife. I finally gave up on that effort. The waiter took all 3 plates back to the kitchen for us. The kitchen staff reheated the Eggs Benedict in the microwave! So we then had hot, overcooked eggs, rock hard Hollandaise sauce with a wilted side salad. It was the worst food I've had in a restaurant in maybe forever! One member of our party who ordered the basic ham dinner received it shortly before we were ready to leave. Our server was friendly & competent but a little distracted.
