Slowest drive thru in the triad! Spent literally 40min today. Unorganized! Good food if you have half a day to spend waiting.

The food is good fast food. It was not what I expected. It was a biscuit version of McDonals. The friendly staff was a given.

A small interior with a handful of tables and chairs with a short bar with a few bar stools. Was greeted walking in and told to sit where I like, so I grabbed a table by the window and enjoyed the sun while waiting for my food. Ordered a couple chili dogs with slaw on top with a side of baked beans from the menu and relaxed a bit. My dogs showed up within a few minutes, cooked very well with a nice amount of chili and topped with sweet coleslaw. It hit the spot and was a bargain at the price. A simple lunch done very well and a comfortable place to enjoy it. Worth a visit and your support. 3.5 Stars rounded up for the good chili dogs 01139

The sides are very small for the price point and my roll was not included. The food could use seasoning. For this place to be so out of the way, it is not worth it for take out as the restaurant does not properly prep for a long drive. There are ways that the food could be packaged to preserve some of the heat. The meat should be wrapped in foil to keep the styrofoam box from making it soggy. The restaurant is quaint but for the price, there are better soul food options. Lack of seasoning and tiny portions are a turn off.

While in Winston-Salem for business meetings, we decided to venture over to the west side of town…read moreto try Milner's American Southern, and we are so glad we did. Although it's tucked away in an unassuming business district, this restaurant is truly a hidden gem. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the warm, inviting space and exceptional service. Everyone made us feel welcome, and the attention to detail throughout our meal was outstanding. We started with the Ahi Tuna appetizer, which was absolutely delicious. It was served over a bed of crisp sliced cucumbers and the most amazing vinegar coleslaw. The combination of flavors was fresh, light, and memorable. Even the warm dinner rolls were outstanding and set the tone for the meal. For our entrées, the meatloaf was everything comfort food should be. It was tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, served over creamy mashed potatoes with fresh French green beans. We also ordered the Chef's seasonal Squash Casserole, and it was phenomenal. If it's on the menu when you visit, don't miss it. Milner's way exceeded our expectations: wonderful food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere made for a memorable evening. We will absolutely make the trip back the next time we're in Winston-Salem.

The interior design is cozy, the staff is friendly, it looks clean. Drink is decent, we had their seasonal mojito, and 2 local beer. For appetizer we shared the seared scallops, large chicken & sausage gumbo. Entree we had vegetable and black rice, Milner shrimp and grits, crab cake (x2 cakes), lamb loin. I personally enjoyed the vegetable and black rice, the flavor blend is perfect for me. My company enjoys the lamb loin, shrimp in shrimp and grit is good but grit is dry. Crab cake is a standard one, but at least it got enough crab in it. Scallops are sear nice but I think if they were taken out a bit longer or the fire temperature is a bit lower, the entire scallop would be cooked evenly instead of seeing the outside is pretty dark but the inside is very raw (I got that it is raw but this is not 30 dollar seared scallop quality). I really would like to go back again but at the same time I think its dish can be a hit or miss base on its price point. One may feel it serves the best meal, one may feel well I pay this much, is my honest opinion of Milner.

It had been almost two years since we'd been to Southern Roots, and I remembered it being good, but…read morethis visit was even better. We had the burger and gluten-free risotto, and both were very good. The wine list is a strength, with plenty to choose from. Prices are a bit high for Jamestown, but the food and variety justify it. The thing that really stood out for us was the gluten-free options, which goes well beyond the usual salad and grilled chicken: cauliflower crust pizza, quesadillas on a gluten-free tortilla, risotto, and shrimp and grits, plus the meats, salads, and sides that are gluten-free anyway. You don't see that many real options on one menu very often. If you eat gluten-free, put it on your list; if you don't, the food and wine are reason enough to go.

We had a great experience at Southern Roots. Between the table, we tried the Gouda Pimento Dip,…read moreshort ribs, the Granny Smith salad with shrimp, and the crab-stuffed trout. Everything was delicious, although my partner wasn't a huge fan of the short ribs. The trout and salad were both excellent. The cheese dip was delicious. The sides were a standout, especially the Parmesan spaghetti squash, which I highly recommend. We had to put some extra salt on the sides, but that's purely personal preference. They also had several reasonably priced drink specials, which was a nice surprise. The service was amazing--friendly, attentive, and a big part of what made the meal so enjoyable. Overall, a really solid dining experience, and I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.

They are located in a nice little spot with ample parking and it's easy accessible. The interior is simple but clean. Plenty of seating. The ladies who work here are very friendly and helpful, came around a few times to check on me, offered fried side to go with the greens , offered a refill on my sweet tea. Great service! About the food. Probably the BEST FRIED CHICKEN in the area. I really can't judge on that because I haven't sampled other fried chicken in the vicinity but based on my own research of sampling fried chicken all over North Carolina, I feel confident in my assumption. It was fried just right. It was SEASONED. It had a very nice batter that was crunchy and the chicken in the inside was tender and juicy. Every bite was tender and juicy. These ladies should teach a cooking class on how to make fried chicken-to other restaurants. The SWEET POTATOES were perfectly cooked and flavored in butter and cinnamon. You could eat it as a dessert. But not overly sweet. Just right. The GREENS were tender and seasoned perfectly. Greens and fried side with their delicious CORNBREAD could be a meal in itself. The SWEET TEA-perfect! All around, best home cooked food/soul food you can get. I will be back and I highly recommend for true SOUTHERN COMFORT food.

And offer specials each day. Lots of meat options and veggie options. Including salad, which isn't always available in a homestyle southern restaurant. The roasted potatoes that are available only on Fridays were my favorite part of the platter. So flavorful and perfectly seasoned. The Mac n cheese was also very good. Creamy and cheesy. The hush puppies were HUGE and very crispy. Loved them. I ordered along with two coworkers. Coworker one is now in love with this place and wants to order at least once a week. Coworker two ordered meatloaf and said it was quite tasty. Negatives: Be prepared for the salt!!!!! We ordered from here twice. We got the chicken pie both times and it was wayyyyy to salty. The first order I was able to combine with the potatoes and Mac n cheese to make it edible. But the second order, all the sides were salty too and I ended up not being able to finish most of the plate. It was also disappointing because I'd ordered chicken tenders but received the chicken pie instead. While I'm wary of ordering in the future because the food is salty, my coworker loves it and we'll order again. Hopefully I can explore more of the menu and find the perfect dish and come back for a higher rating.
