The American Wheat

Birmingham District Brewing is one of my favorite breweries!! There is always fun things to do including trivia nights, Oktoberfests, birthday parties, food popups and more. You can subscribe to their website to learn more. Today I am attending a glass blowing class which I found out about through their newsletter. I really enjoy their Irish Stout and their Ocktoberfest. I also found out today that they offer non-alcoholic beers. Great for people who want to enjoy the party, but don't want to drink.

Great brewery find in the heart of DT Bham! Great selection and y'all know how I feel about beer flights! Great seating inside and out; inside space even has a cozy seating section w/couch & plush chairs. Staff were so courteous, engaging, and nice! Easy and cheap street parking nearby! Highly recommend if you're in the downtown area!

Was able to stop in while waiting for takeout order from Gus's World FamousChicken next door. The bartender immediately made some great suggestions and I got the Undead and Unbothered Sour! It was described as "intro to fall" taste and didn't disappoint! There is both inside and outside seating and I wish I could have had time to hang out here a little longer!

Another successful visit to BDB! The staff here is always so friendly and ready to assist. I thoroughly enjoyed what was likely the last of their Oktoberfest tap before its tapped out. It was in a cute mug too! It was quite enjoyable. I also had their glacial drift, which is a very lighter IPA. Tasty and very drinkable, if you don't typically lean toward IPAs. I highly recommend checking out BDS for some great local beers if you enjoy/appreciate craft beers. There's something for all beer drinking styles.

Made a quick stop here to get out of the rain and had two delicious beers. My bartender was awesome, gave me a few great local recs and was very knowledgeable about her beer. Really cool spot!

The Yelp! Algorithm made me do it by saying I needed one more brewery to hit the trifecta. I've always liked the District's offerings and vibe. They keep the beers in pretty heavy rotation, so they may not always have your favorite. It's a worthwhile trade off imo. Picked-up some Wasabi Juan's and brought it over.

Nice place to grab a beer and catch up with friends. We sat out on their heated patio to enjoy the burritos we picked up at a nearby restaurant along with our beers. For myself, I got a flight with some tasters of their sours and a stout. We were able to participate in a few fun rounds of trivia too. Only bummer is the parking in the area is kind of limited, but obviously this is par for the course in downtown.

Great brewery just a short walk from the Elyton hotel. Great atmosphere, good beer selection and attentive service. We'll definitely go back!

Perfect place to unwind after completing a late evening ride with a local cycle group or just by yourself. Plenty of indoor or outdoor seating options. They now have a new Snack Menu with various options to curb your appetite.

Nice open space with one of the best beers I ever had. The Aloha was delicious! Definitely a nice spot to visit!

Birria Tacos & Beer
Jasmine T.

This is a really big, open venue! There was a wedding party there when I visited and there was still plenty of space for everyone else. I came specifically to try the Birria tacos but although they looked good, the meal lacked flavor :/ The sauce was quite greasy and needed salt but overall I left full and relatively satisfied. I loved the beer glasses! Can't remember which beer I tried but I know I finished it

Right up the block from the brewery, another famous spot

Went there last Saturday. Had a great time and met some good people. Staff (especially Brent) were great about discussing other great breweries in the area. I tasted several great brews and bought some merchandise at great prices as well. I'll be back next time I'm back in Birmingham!

To Infinity (IPA)

Came here for a beer and ended up having two (To Infinity IPA) while running errands on a weekday - very pleased with my selection. Bartender was kind and I enjoyed getting their mini charcuterie dish to tide me over until dinner. Would definitely visit when in the area again!

Seating area next to door. Obsidian: coffee/chocolate imperial stout of theirs.

This isn't just a brewery but it's an event space for things like young professional meetups, drag shows, puzzle nights and trivia, fun runs etc... It can be hard to decide where you want to sit after coming in as you go through the laid back patio (although the trains are sometimes loud) or inside where you're greeted with neon lights and retro futuristic vibes. Just like the beer, there is no bad option. There are many beers to choose from, which are frequently rotating but no worries, some of the fan favorites like Dr. Robot are constantly on tap. There are beers made specifically for the Birmingham location as well. If beer isn't your thing there are Margaritas and cocktails. There's also plenty of food. The tacos aren't going to win over my Abuela's heart but they are serviceable. I typically go with the nachos though. I always hear how good the Patty Melt but every time I go to order one they are out of hamburger patties. There is almost always something going on, or some type of happy hour/deal. Any night is a good night at Monday night!

People often host their own little parties and events at the picnic tables here. I came on a Sunday afternoon, and it seemed like a lot of families came for lunch and to hang out after church. The food here is certainly impressive food for a bar to me. I love the wood fired pizzas. I will say, I think the size is a bit awkward. They're a little too big to be a single serving, and a little too small to be for two people. The beer is all good. Service at the bar always friendly. The fries here are some of my favorite in town. They've got a huge selection of beers and a full dinner menu, so there's something for just about everyone. Whether you're coming for drinks or planning to eat, you won't feel limited. Parking is plentiful, which is always a win in Birmingham, and there's plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. It works well for small groups or larger parties. One thing to know going in: this isn't really a full-service setup. You order and pick up your own food, and aside from someone occasionally clearing empty pint glasses, there's not much table service. We actually didn't receive utensils with our food and had to go back up to the counter to grab some. Not a huge deal, just something to be aware of. I ordered the catfish sandwich with fries. The sandwich itself was delicious -- crispy, flavorful, and satisfying. My only small gripe was that it came in a to-go box. I understand it probably makes cleanup easier for them, but it does take away a bit from the dine-in experience. The fries were shoestring style, which just aren't my personal favorite. They're fine, but I always feel like I need about three handfuls to feel satisfied. We went on a Saturday night and the brewery was packed -- and I mean packed. It was very loud and definitely more of a party atmosphere than a relaxing dinner vibe. If you're looking for a quiet night out, this probably isn't it. But if you want energy, beer, sports on TV, and a fun crowd, this place delivers. Overall, it's a great hangout spot to catch a game, grab a drink, and enjoy good food -- just expect a lively, high-energy scene.

Menu was extensive but it only had about 8 in house cocktails? The rest of the menu was food, beer etc kinda expected more options from a distillery. Ambiance was a little off, the outside of the building is nice, but inside when you get down to it was a little rough around the corners, it's my own preference, but having a bunch of big screens with sports on while serving chicken wings kinda kills the distillery vibe and makes the place seem more like a sports bar. It's not horrible, just seems like they were trying to cross a distillery with a buffalo wild wings.

The quesadillas had a little kick. I really enjoyed it. Service was good albeit a little slow especially considering we were the only ones in there. Food took a bit to come out but I knew it was fresh. Very cool place inside. You can tour the distillery. They make all their own alcohol right there. I enjoyed my cocktail which was the book club.

But we'd spent the day at McWane Center and we were starving so we were there to EAT! The food looked gorgeous but it tasted very meh. The onion rings had too much breading on them, which I didn't think was possible, but here we are. The part of the breading next to the onion was mushy so that threw off the texture of the whole thing too. The burger was very much like a Whataburger. Even the lettuce smelled the same. I got The Standard and the bun of the burger was a little mushy (similar to Whataburger) and there was not much meat. For an $11 burger, I'm expecting more than a Whataburger. My middle kid likes everything on her burger and isn't picky at all and the loaded kid burger looked impressive but it was about the same as mine. Not awful, but not very good either. Very close to the same amount of meat. She's the queen of the Clean Plate Club and she only ate half. The fries were good but a somewhat too salty, the dip that came with the onion rings was excellent and we ended up using it for the fries. We had 2 adults and 3 kids and our meal was $63 before tip for 5 waters, 2 adult burgers, 2 kid burgers, a kid grilled cheese, and a basket of fries and onion rings (I thought I was ordering a "side" of fries, not realizing I actually ordered a basket and it was a lot of fries and onion rings). We don't mind spending money on good food, but the prices here don't align with what you get. No one was more disappointed than me, I've been wanting to eat here for FOREVER!!!
