We picked up food from here on a Friday night and it always leaves something to be desired. I I ordered wings and a Caesar salad and I'm pretty sure the wings were a little undercooked. They didn't really have any flavor to them and then the Caesar salad was just thrown in the box so honestly, I would recommend going in in dining. I visited Pies & Pints this afternoon for lunch, and I have to say I am CRAZY for never stopping by this place before! Multiple people have raved about how good it is, and I've been meaning to try it for years. It's been around the corner from my job as long as I've been working there, but I'd always put it off or find some reason or other not to go. The entire experience was a ten out of ten. I was greeted as soon as I stepped foot into the restaurant. The bar is right in the front just past the host stand, and one of the bartenders welcomed me and handed me a menu to review for my order. She even offered me something to drink while I decided what I wanted. I looked up from the menu when I was ready to order and there she was, ready to take my order. I waited about 15 minutes for my food, and that was all. It was such a lovely experience. The whole vibe of the place was laid back and comforting. I felt relaxed as soon as I walked in and just having someone welcome me when I enter means the world to me. I was in a big hurry today, so I really appreciated the in and out service. Love love love this place! I ordered the small sriracha shrimp pie. It was absolutely delicious. The ingredients were fresh, and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. They weren't gummy and overcooked like I was afraid they'd be. A lot of places have trouble with shrimp because they cook so fast, but I was very satisfied with my order. Drove into Birmingham on a Friday night and tried to go to another restaurant around 8PM, but it was packed so we went here instead. We waited about 10 minutes around 9PM, but it was definitely worth it! I tried the draft root beet and really enjoyed it. Im not a root beer aficionado so not sure if it was anything special, but it was good. We split a pizza with street corn and the chicken gouda. The 16 inch was plenty for two people and we had about 4 slices left after. The street corn was my favorite as it was incredibly cheesy, but the gouda was also fantastic. It was a cold night, and they had the doors open which was a little iffy, but overall we really enjoyed coming here and would recommend it to others who love pizza! read more

We were in the mood for a pint and a pie, well at least we were once we found a downtown spot called "Pies & Pints" :-) This is one of two locations in AL anfld this chain has 11 other locations in OH, IN, KY, VA, WV, and IN. First of all, it's located on a busy downtown corner with only street parking, it's limited at least during the day, maybe better later, so that was a bit of a challenge. Once inside it was a bit confusing, the seating scenario wasn't clear, neither was whether table service was available. The only person we could stop to ask wasn't a lot of help because she was hesitant, at first, and wasn't clear about what we should do. Apparently ordering at the bar is expected and she volunteered to bring our order to a table she sat us at. It's a hip and comfy interior While the pizza is the star but they have a nice selection of salads and small menu of sandwiches and desserts. As for pizza they offergluten and dairy-free options and interesting choices like street corn pizza, need to try that, grape & gorgonzola, Cuban pork, and a Thai. We went with a local brew and a Mozzarella Caprese pie that was pretty darn good. The all important crust was very good and it was cooked perfectly. There's a pretty big beer menu, including local brewery choices and the craft beers are a bit pretty pricey, but they have PBR draft for $2, but I can't drink that, eewww. Happy hours are Monday - Friday from 3 - 6pm. $1 off select pints & house wines and $2 off appetizers. You can easily order online for pickup or delivery which is available for with GrubHub and Door dash. This place was though had a great selection of Octoberfest beers including selections from Germany. I even saw Bitburger on the wall! My business partner and I ordered two salads and a large spicy pizza. Warning! These salads are huge! I'm referring to the small salads, not the dinner salads! It was almost a mistake to buy that as we weren't able to really get into the pizza, that was one of the best salads I have had! The pizza was pretty good too. The crispiness of the bacon perfectly off sets the softness of the mashed potatoes, as does the acidity of the sour cream dipping option with the natural blandness of the potato. The smoked wings have the ultimate smokey, strong taste with the perfect crunchy skin. The buffalo sauce is perfectly thickened so that it doesn't just slide off the wing when you pick it up. But the pizza, the PIZZA is the real star. I have tried multiple pies at this restaurant and can assure without a doubt that the street corn, elote pizza is one of the best things I have EVER eaten. At first I had qualms about the elote concept not translating well given the carb on carb interaction between the corn and crust but no- the chile lime seasoning (tajin) perfectly mediates between the two. Every single bite of this pizza is the perfect combination of every ingredient; each but is just as equally herbaceous, salty, acidic, and sweet as the next. Horrible would never recommend this restaurant. The server and manager was nice however will never eat here again. The heirloom tomato pizza was yuck. It was oily, dough was hard, cheese tasted bad and just over all bad bad pizza. I also had a house salad. The croutons were stale and the salad was covered with cheese not jut topped with cheese I mean covered. Not appetizing at all. My co worker got wings and a cheese steak sandwich. The wings were burnt and dry and the sandwich bread was burnt but they served it any way and there was hardly any meat and cheese on the sandwich. Do not go here. I decided to go to Pies and Pints in Birmingham today since it's Ask Wednesday and I can't eat meat today as well as fasting so this was perfect for my class assignment. Overall it was decent. We got seated fast and our waiter was awesome and helped us choose our pizza since I didn't know what to choose that was vegetarian. She ended up helping us pick the street corn pizza with gluten free crust. While we were waiting I did notice the restaurant looked clean and I enjoyed the music playing in the background. We ended up waiting 20 minutes or longer which shocked me since the place was kind of empty but we weren't in a rush. The pizza came out fresh but I just didn't really enjoy it as much. It had way too much lime flavor that it overpowered some of the other ingredients and the gluten free crust tasted the same as a regular crust which I did appreciate. For the price I paid, I did think it was reasonable since the pizza is different and had a gluten free crust. Overall, I would come again but not anytime soon. read more
