Brewery #429 I have been to over 30 breweries in the state of Alabama, and Cahaba is my favorite. It has everything you want in a brewery; really good beer, solid food menu, fun vibe and lots to do. The beer: The most important part. I was surprised their beer was as good as it was because their signature is a basic blonde ale. Cahaba has beers that are anything but basic. I got a flight with an African Saison, a Southern Feistbeer, River Haze (hazy IPA) and a blood orange blonde. Everything was delicious. The space is large with lots of picnic tables inside a climate-controlled warehouse, a bunch of video games, pinball machines and skeeball. They distill their own spirits as well and had a cocktail menu featuring those spirits. The full-time food truck outside had a solid looking menu. Always a big fan of Cahaba and this location specifically. They have a wonderful food truck open after 5pm on weekdays and the interior of the old warehouse is cavernous. I mean, it's vast, my friends, and I bask in the vastness with my tasty beverage. Man. I've loved this spot since I first started visiting The Magic City. First off, the space is awesome! It's an old warehouse or factory space that's been transformed into not only their taproom but also their production/packaging facility. It's super rad and full of natural light and warm tones. The actual reason we come, the beer, is also top notch! They produce some solid year rounds as well as awesome seasonal's and small batch stuff. The Cahaba Brewery brand is a well-respected and its products are found throughout Birmingham and the region for a good reason. The brewery produces a great variety of beer and the ones I imbibed were great. The tap house is located on the outskirts of downtown Birmingham and is a large facility. The dining/drinking area is vast with skee-balls available; close to the bathroom are many pinball machines. There also is a private area that can be reserved for events - during my visit, there was a Mountain Brook High School reunion. I attended the Vegan Festival hosted by Cahaba Brewing and I was so impressed with the amount of vendors available. The different food choices were amazing along with the family type atmosphere. This is another wonderful micro brewery in Birmingham. Nothing fancy, this working brewery is an old warehouse in the Forest Park/Crestwood neighborhood. One thing that I like is how much space and seating is available. There is seating outdoors on the old loading dock, and inside the large space is filled with long picnic tables, couches, and high tops. There is also seating at the bar. The is a good venue for hosting large events. I have attended the Episcopal Palace's annual Gumbo Gala, and Hand in Paw's Barktoberfest every October. There is no in-house food, but they often have a food truck parked outside, The beer menu is very nice. Their most popular beer is the Cahaba Blond, which can be found throughout the city. I like trying their unique and seasonal brews. Today I tried the Peanut Porter, and I thought it was very good. They also offer five or six cocktails as an alternative to the beers. read more

Personally, I don't think that some of the beers they distribute do them justice. For example, Cahaba blonde is a local staple, nothing to write home about, but one that I would pick over several other blondes. Butttt, you must go to the brewery! I was delightfully surprised at the selection here. Wins across the board. Stand outs for the summer are the lemonade stand and dragonbier. Delicious! Also, there's tons of space. Inside seating, including games, table space for groups, families, or even solo guests. Seating on the patio is covered and there are tvs and large fans to help you beat the Alabama heat. SO we went to the Tall Bike Jousting event held at Cahaba Brewing... That was an experience! The brewery is a nice place... Huge nice place actually. I'm not going to be able to describe the wait on a normal day, but with the huge crowds, the wait for a couple of brews was not bad at all. They were pretty efficient at serving the crowd. I had a Peach Royal Sour that was based on a Berliner Weisse and was an excellent beer... I have tried many of their other options since I spend some time in Birmingham and a lot of places around there carry Cahaba beers. I particularly like the Blood Orange Blonde. Food looked good, but I can't say since we had food from a food truck parked on the brewery property. It was good... Try the place out. read more

Visited Cahaba Brewing Company for the first time today because a Vegan Festival was being held at their venue. We really enjoyed the vendor area. The establishment itself was amazing. The vibe inside was really cool and welcoming. The bartenders were all very nice and knowledgeable. We had some beer and a cocktail. All of it was great. The restrooms are very clean. They provide feminine products, which is above and beyond. They also had pinball machines and games. Great big open space, lots of room which is awesome when you got a toddler who won't sit still. They have a good variety of beers to choose from with lots of different styles so a little bit of something for everyone. I've been here for a special event before and recently came to try the food truck. While waiting for the food we decided to get cocktails to enjoy with it. I chose the Blackberry Breeze (Blackberry basil syrup, Lime juice, Fizz) and my son went with the Flip Flop Fashioned. I thought my drink was good but will probably try something else next time. My son did enjoy his old fashioned which has become his go to cocktail. I am not a beer drinker so it was nice that they have added some cocktails since my last visit. My son also will regularly stop by to get a growler of some of the seasonal brews. We sat near one of the (maybe only) working patio heaters at an outdoor table since all the indoor tables were taken or reserved. Apparently there is not a designated smoking area on the patio. It would be nice not to have to walk through or be surrounded by customers and employees taking a break while trying to enjoy drinks and food. Based on this experience, I would be disappointed if I return and outdoor seating is the only available option. One of stops on our Birmingham Brewery Crawl. We took an Uber air we didn't have to worry about parking. Did not appear to be a lot of spaces. Also, it's kinda tucked down from the road so our driver missed it on the first pass. But, make sure to find it!! Great spot. A huge covered front porch? Patio? Not sure what to define it as because it is so massive. The food truck sits at the far end. We sat inside to start. They had a music game going on with a DJ of some sort. But thank goodness, it was not too loud. I have been to many places where they do music bingo but they play the music so loud it rattles the fillings in your teeth. :-) The area inside is wide open as well. I have been here a couple of times. The first few they didn't have any mixed drinks... this time they did!!! Came here with friends as they were having some sort of festival with food trucks. I was exited to go so I could try the food truck they always have there... but alas, they did not have their regular menu with burgers... so I waited until later. The atmosphere here is always casual with a lot of friendly people. The bar tenders on staff have always treated me very well.. now that they serve their own vodka I had to buy a bottle.... Since the pandemic started, I've been a few times. The size of this place really makes it easy to social distance. There are multiple seating areas indoors and outdoors that are spread out far enough to make me feel safe. The employees have always been friendly and helpful. The prices are reasonable. We walked in and immediately, we were impressed by the old skee ball machines that you can play at no charge. The interior had a cool industrial feel and I loved the big glass wall displaying the brewing equipment. They offer food from their food truck outside, but we didn't make out way there on this visit. They had an extensive menu and the staff is super knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming! They are kid friendly too! I will admit that I don't frequent breweries as much as I used to. But I am pretty the first time I came here, there is no way that a review wasn't written. I specifically remember writing about the really cool space with a long history. Old freight elevators and exposed bricks are always cool for a space. But let's talk about SPACE. There is so much room here. They even have a huge private event space. Awesome arcade space, fantastic display of their brewing facility and now added in spirits.
