Go here! I've been coming here for years for breakfast with my family. It NEVER disappoints. The portions are huge and everything is freshly made and wonderful. Even the coffee is good. This is a diner I've been coming to since childhood twenty five years ago, and it's only gotten better in that time. The breakfast items are delicious. My girlfriend ordered the special--Oreo Pancakes-- for Sunday brunch. It was amazing. Unlike any other diner, in VT it may be required but it's still amazing to see---they provide a maple syrup jug with real Vermont maple syrup. The staff is very friendly and the most attentive I've seen a wait staff be in a diner. Every 5 minutes or so at least one server comes by and asks us if we need anything. The portions are very generous and quite reasonably priced. I recommend it to anyone. read more

Our favorite breakfast place...lunch a dinner can be pleasantly simple but good. Cooks do cook well and the service is nice and friendly. There is a homie atmosphere. The menu displays a surprising variety of dishes and they serve wine and beer. Also from the same owners, the new Blue Cat Bistro across the street is getting better by the day ( or better at night for dinner) with apparently good pizzas and a short but tasty menu. read more

Had a good breakfast here. While their corned beef hash was canned (always a bummer) my omelette was fabulous. The bread was fresh and local. The service was good and the diner is entirely authentic. And their home fries were homemade and not nasty little fried squares like you sometimes get. We'd totally go back again! read more

We were out for a drive a desided we needed a chocolate malt. The Birdseye is one of the few places in the area that has them. ( many places in VT don't even know what a malt is) The malts here are worth every sip, but be prepared to use your spoon. :) Everyone is friendly which makes the whole adventure a treat. read more

Birdseye Diner is up there as one of the better breakfast places I've been to and its not only open for breakfast. The setting is great. Right off Main Street in Castleton, the diner is very 70s feeling with a sit down area and a few booths. The food was great and it was filling, while the price was more than fair. The only issue was having to wait over an hour for food. It is a very small place and on Sunday morning it was VERY busy. Definitely worth it if you are not in a rush. read more

Avoid this restaurant, it use to be so much more when I attended CSU nearby. We literally waited 90 minutes for pancakes that were not cooked in the middle. Unfortunately our waitress wouldn't know that because they only time she came back was when she dropped the check. Very overpriced as well, I highly suggest going down the road to Sunrise Family restaurant for a better meal and service. read more

We have been going here forever and a day and I am sad to say my time visiting there may be coming to an end. It was a quiet Saturday night when we arrived two other tables were finishing up and it left our table of two. It took almost 30 minutes to get two hot sandwiches. Then our dining experience was totally ruined by an older waitress who was just so loud and had no filter I really don't care that she was eating broccoli, that her sneakers matched the floor, or cared to watch her swing on the counters while yelling into the kitchen. It was nice to see that the two younger servers knew how to behave and have a conversation without ruining a diners experience maybe she could take a lesson from them.... read more

Disappointing...out of clams, scallops and shrimp- chicken parm not breaded and fried, just microwaved from frozen..cheese melted not browned. Pile of dry spaghetti accompanied the plate. Gross, very dirty, I don't think the kitchen is very clean nor is the potato pealer in the basement.

They advertise on the internet as having some organc food, including organc hamburgers, but when I went, there was no mention of it on the diner-style menu. When I asked the staff, they looked blankly at me apparently not even knowing what organc beef was. There was a sticker on the window indicating that they were part of the "local food network," but again the staff seemed to know nothing about any local produce being offered. The food is exactly what you'd expect from a diner, but don't let their claims on the internet lure you into thinking you'll get a local or organc meal here. read more

Had absolutely the worst tuna melt I've ever eaten. The English muffin on which it sat was burned absolutely black, but the tuna and the slab of cheddar on it was cold. How they accomplished this, I don't know. But the only thing I could eat was to scrape the tuna off the burnt muffin and discard the lump of cold cheese. Awful. read more

Disgusting. We waited 45 minutes for our breakfast to arrive only to receive cold eggs. When we mentioned this to our server she was surly -- almost hesitant to resolve the issue. Also, the owner stopped by on this busy Sunday morning and proceeded to make herself an English muffin right in front of guests without an sanitary precautions. When she licked the knife that was really gross. Makes us want to call the local board if health. Save yourself the time, money and bad attitude and go somewhere else. Yuck. read more

Wish I could comment on the food here but never had the chance. My wife and I decided to give the place a try after work and we walked in because it looked like a nice, cozy diner. We walked in the front door and after standing around for a couple seconds we were greeted by a waitress who definitely should not have been wearing shorts, but unfortunately dared to. She coldly told us to "just sit wherever" in between her loud discussion with another patron. We took a seat at the only booth of the 5 they had and the table wasn't even wiped down. We waited around while two of the gross waitresses walked around blabbering to the male customer very loudly (probably from the same NA group by the looks of it) about nothing while a 3rd waitress was in the kitchen doorway on the phone taking an order. After 3 minutes and no eye contact or sign of receiving menus, a drink or even the table wiped down properly, we got up and walked out. The two waitresses were very rudely ignoring us and shoving their hands down their back pockets while they yammered on to the other patron. I stated "great service" and was still ignored by the useless wait staff. This visit was on 10/09/2017 at about 6:15PM. read more

We arrived at the Birdseye this morning for breakfast with our 2 year old son. To our dismay, there was only 1 highchair, and it was in use. We had to track down the waitress after around 10 minutes to take our order. I ordered a cheese omelet, potatoes in a separate dish to feed our son, and bacon. When my order arrived it was a western omelet, with the potatoes in the same dish. When I did get my order, I had to eat while trying to contain my son. I would say for a "family" restaurant, not family oriented at all! What restaurant has only one highchair! read more

It wasn't particularly busy and we waited forever to order and our waitress never returned to refill coffee or return a piece of charred food which we asked to have replaced. We are regulars at the Birdseye diner, usually it's very good. Its really sad when you place your order very clear with what you want and it comes with you nothing like what you ordered, Eggs Benedict with bacon soft eggs and crispy home fries. My husband was very clear his sausage was cold last time please let it be hot!! Mine comes with ham and bacon she takes it back she brings it back now the eggs are so hard you can't even cut them. my husband sausage is cold!! so when I told her I don't want it she didn't even really care if I had been the waitress I would have taken a back getting it right and gave it to the customer for free but we've noticed that the people that own this place really don't care about their customers cuz they're so busy it's too bad that Debbie wasn't working she is the best may be a long time before we go back again cuz nobody cares my husband told the waitress my wife is going across the street and get her breakfast at the bakery which I did and I brought it back and SAT there and ate it. read more
