Speaking of not sitting on it, there was dust on the armrests like they don't have vacuum attachments or something. Cobwebs on power cords and curtains. Mildew or mold in the shower between the tiles. See pictures. Water would leak from the shower, under the wall, soaking the carpet 3 ft. Into the carpeting by the side of the bed. To the point where my girlfriend's shoelaces were wet in the morning. Luckily she didn't have a bag on the floor.. Very loud creaky ceiling. I think most hotels use concrete floors but this one has wooden floors and between the footsteps and the creaking, it was hard to get to sleep. Could also easily hear voices from upstairs. While we were down at the pool, our key became demagnetized for some reason, and when my girlfriend went to the desk to get it reprogrammed, the lady, Darlene , gave her the third degree about asking for ID and everything which of course was in the room that we couldn't get into. And then finally reprogrammed the key but like it was a chore and she was doing us a favor. Handicap spots are on the side of the building but you have to wheel around to the main entrance because there's no cutout in the sidewalk to get up to the side entrance. Breakfast. I knew it was posted on the wall and they offered things like pancakes and bacon or omelets and bacon. But Saturdays and Sundays it's the exact same menu. Scrambled eggs and sausage links. You would think they would split that up. Mix it up for weekend travelers. Will not stay there again.

As everyone knows the brand Wyndham is typically on target however this location is not. For the price of the rooms and the brand was very disappointed, not only with the service but the condition of the room. I will say my bed was very comfortable however, the pillows needed thrown away as there was really nothing left to them as you picked them up they folded into and were all floppy. Zero support! My duvet cover showed a huge rip that had been sewn back together, Underneath the heating unit, there were all kinds of wires that had been spliced sticking out, grabbing your feet when you went by, cloth chair, a huge stain on it, mini fridge was frozen up, coffee pot was dirty, dirt around bathroom vanity faucet, bathroom exhaust fan didn't work at all, peeling paint from the bathroom mirror frame, grout in the bathroom with two different colors, tub drained very slow, towel had someone else's hair on it, bathroom door frame all scratched up, remote control was dirty, and some features not even work on it, wasn't able to connect to Wi-Fi the entire time there. As I missed my dog on the trip, I stopped at the front desk to ask if there were breed restrictions and the cost.... Quickly, the lady rolled her eyes ( same lady that checked me in with the attitude ) and ask what I had, followed by an attitude as to why it cost a extra$ 75 per night for a dog ( keep in mind I didn't ask why ) but she definitely lead on that. She didn't appreciate dogs being there and she said it would be cheaper to leave them at home. She stated that everything has to be taken out of the room and cleaned afterwards. Yes I expected that but the level of attitude I received was very unwelcoming. Perhaps it's time for a career change for this individual as she is leaving a negative impact on this hotel. Can we say " bad apple "? Everyone else here was very friendly. Noticed same bags of trash, set out by the residence for pick up for days. Elevators were a slushy mess in the lobby coming in pretty much the same. Wasn't able to enjoy the heated pool or hot tub due to unruly children running, screaming out of control as they were doing cannonballs....and of course, the parents were doing nothing. Parking was a train wreck as they didn't plow any of the parking lot or parking spaces, therefore it took up a lot more space because people couldn't see the lines and a lot of people had to park at the bank next-door and lug all their stuff across the snowy parking lot. OK now for what I did enjoy. Bed was comfortable and clean, rosemary, scented toiletries, hot complementary breakfast with delicious coffee. Friendly and helpful staff ( except for gray hair lady at the front desk ). Great location for walking to and from on a ski trip.

Don't get me wrong, it's expensive. But for once I felt like I'd gotten my money's worth! Everything everywhere was meticulously clean and well-kept. Our room was spacious and bright, with a private balcony and chairs, a couch and coffee table, and a full table that allowed us to take comfortable advantage of the room service breakfast. Potpourri sachets in the closet, free water bottles in the lobby, free coffee stations on each floor, and chocolates every night on the pillows--details, people! We also enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub, and of course the gorgeous patio and firepits overlooking the lake which was 80% of the reason we booked here. All of the staff we encountered, from the front desk to the housekeepers, were very friendly. I did think it was a little strange that the fitness center was in a whole different building and you have to walk across the parking lot to get to it, but hey--you get your steps in. The hotel is also very centrally located. On the water, of course, but next door to Seneca Harbor Station from which you can book lake cruises. It's also less than a mile from the entrance to Watkins Glen State Park and hiking trails and only a 5-10 minute walk from most restaurants. We did most things on foot. When you do get back in the car, there are multiple wineries within a 15-minute drive. The only problem the whole visit was the hotel internet, which was terrible every day. You could make do in the daytime, but at night, when everyone was back in their rooms after the day out exploring, it was slow to the point of unusable, and I ended up turning on my data hotspot to even be able to check my email. I would not suggest bringing time-sensitive work with you, and you should not expect to be able to stream videos on your devices. Just disconnect, you'll be less frustrated. There is an onsite restaurant and bar, and while it's nothing mind-blowing, it is a nice option to have (and is one of the few "higher end" type places in Watkins Glen). Menu includes a few of the standard local wines, which was nice!

The Hampton Inn in Geneseo to speak to "Stephanie" today inquiring about where my refund was. She asked what happened and I explained. She said " someone should have offered you another room ". When I asked them to please change our room, they said they did not have any other room in our "tier" which means in the price point we paid. The hotel is virtually empty this weekend. Nevertheless, they are choosing not to give us a different room as a service. I am so very hurt and disappointed. It's a great hotel and a great location. But this inflexibility, even for silver members like us, feels very sad and unnecessary.

Naturally the rooms are hotel rooms and the breakfast is a cold one. The first and last days of our stay (Thursday and Sunday) were quiet as the main group of wedding guests were not present. The town of Alfred pretty much shuts down during the summertime which explains the lack of guests. The staff at the Inn were extremely courteous and helpful. They made us feel very welcome even though we arrived after 10pm and were especially courteous as they got us our complimentary breakfast on the last day as there were only 3 guests eating breakfast. Once the wedding guests arrived, we took all the rooms in the entire hotel..and still we received patient and helpful service from the staff..amid all the special hot breakfast, chaos of parents, young adults, missing items, found items, etc. I would definitely recommend the Saxon Inn!
