This is not a well known advertised place only by word of mouth. This cabin is Beautiful! The wood work inside is awesome. Owner was a cabinet maker and his work is fantastic. This is a great get away. You bring your own foods snd hot tub towels. It's very quiet snd a great place to unwind snd recharge. Who would love a soaking hot tub even in winter out side? We did and loved it. They even left us a personal note with a pumpkin bread treat, now that's classy! Come experience this beautiful get away near Naples !

I booked Whispering Woods for our 5 year anniversary a couple of months ago. We've been looking forward to this weekend and we were not disappointed! Everything was perfect! Thank you so much for your hospitality!! You travel down the driveway in the woods to reveal a clearing with a gorgeous cabin. The decor is perfect, we didn't need anything besides our clothes and food. Sitting on the deck drinking coffee and reading in the morning was perfect. Tons of chipmunks and squirrels chasing each other around the yard. If you stay here we recommend Grimes Glen - bring your water shoes. And if you're really adventurous, you have to go to Tannery Falls. We climbed waterfalls, we got to stand behind the falls it was amazing. Bring good shoes! I would recommend hiking shoes for this one. Hazlitt Winery is a must as well if you like wine and cider. And for dinner, travel over to Keuka Lake and check out Waterfront Restaurant - you won't be disappointed. The fish tacos are amazing! This property is perfectly situated and there's so much to do in the area, we are already making plans for our next stay!

My husband and I, along with another couple, stayed at the Quiet Place on a wintry February weekend. Though none of us are particularly "woodsy" people, we had an exceptional time! We have done some significant traveling, and have stayed at more than a dozen Bed and Breakfasts, and I must confess that this is by far my favorite place to stay! The Quiet Place offers a number of cabins in the Bloomfield/Canandaigua/Bristol area. We stayed at the Southhill Lodge. The cabin was impeccably decorated in a rustic, Restoration Hardware inspired way. It is full of warm colors, and natural woods and fibers, making one feel comfortable and at home. (I enjoyed the design of the cabin so much, that I actually scoured the Internet to find their bar stools and coffee table!) They provided nearly every amenity one could need in a cabin: wood fireplace, outdoor hotub, jacuzzi-style bath, fluffy quality linens, board games, DVDs, Bose sound system...the works! Southill Lodge was very well cleaned and maintained. What tickled me the most was that someone had taken the time to create a darling miniature snowman family on the picnic table out on the deck. Surrounded by the sights, sounds, and smells of nature, one cannot help but relax. We plan on visiting again, this winter. And I can't wait!

The house has two porches, an enormous master bath, and a beautiful fire pit with seating and all the wood you can burn. We easily fit four cars in the driveway. Oh, and the raspberries and blackberries that Ed grows on the property were delicious. All the houses on the property are connected by a short, well-maintained trail system. There are several benches, picnic tables and even a few fire pits within the trail system, which also has built in lighting if you want to venture out at night! My highlight was enjoying my coffee while listening to a chorus of birds and frogs at the duck pond one morning. A brilliant way to start one's day!

I have lived in the same apartment for several years now. The apartment itself has been great. The…read morespace was in excellent condition when we moved in and maintenance for physical repairs on/in the apartment has been prompt. The community and amenities on the whole are excellent, and at $1390 for a 2-bedroom apartment the rent is no more absurd than it is everywhere nowadays. The process to actually get a lease was very taxing due to the income/credit/age restrictions, but once we moved in we've had no problems on that front. Where I have had problems is with maintenance responses to things like noise complaints. I've submitted multiple complaints due to neighbors playing loud music at unreasonable hours and every single time the maintenance person brushes it off. Our neighbors in an adjacent unit played the TV in their bedroom so loudly I couldn't sleep. Called maintenance when nobody responded to my knocking on the neighbor's door. Maintenance response? "That's not enough to qualify as a noise complaint. It has to be, like, shaking the walls loud. Muffled sounds are just part of apartment living." Our lease EXPLICITLY prohibits noise being played loud enough that people in adjacent units or the hallway can hear it between 10pm and 8am. Yet maintenance says "sorry, I can't do anything about that." So don't expect any support for noise complaints, and don't pay too much attention to all the specific addendums to the lease, because Rustic Village doesn't lift a finger to enforce them. Living here was great until it became clear that our landlords didn't really care about our experiences in the community as tenants, and maintenance is not reliable for support that is not for something physically broken or dysfunctional. I'm hoping to move in the near future to be in a better environment.

The grounds are well manicured. The bed was comfortable and the pillows are plentiful. The location cannot be beat. We had dinner and drinks at the Blue Pointe Grille the night we arrived. It's rare that I'm dazzled by a hotel or feel that it's worth the money (they're all stupid…read moreexpensive these days), but Harbor Hotel was a wonderful experience I'd recommend to anyone. Don't get me wrong, it's expensive. But for once I felt like I'd gotten my money's worth! Everything everywhere was meticulously clean and well-kept. Our room was spacious and bright, with a private balcony and chairs, a couch and coffee table, and a full table that allowed us to take comfortable advantage of the room service breakfast. Potpourri sachets in the closet, free water bottles in the lobby, free coffee stations on each floor, and chocolates every night on the pillows--details, people! We also enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub, and of course the gorgeous patio and firepits overlooking the lake which was 80% of the reason we booked here. All of the staff we encountered, from the front desk to the housekeepers, were very friendly. I did think it was a little strange that the fitness center was in a whole different building and you have to walk across the parking lot to get to it, but hey--you get your steps in. The hotel is also very centrally located. On the water, of course, but next door to Seneca Harbor Station from which you can book lake cruises. It's also less than a mile from the entrance to Watkins Glen State Park and hiking trails and only a 5-10 minute walk from most restaurants. We did most things on foot. When you do get back in the car, there are multiple wineries within a 15-minute drive. The only problem the whole visit was the hotel internet, which was terrible every day. You could make do in the daytime, but at night, when everyone was back in their rooms after the day out exploring, it was slow to the point of unusable, and I ended up turning on my data hotspot to even be able to check my email. I would not suggest bringing time-sensitive work with you, and you should not expect to be able to stream videos on your devices. Just disconnect, you'll be less frustrated. There is an onsite restaurant and bar, and while it's nothing mind-blowing, it is a nice option to have (and is one of the few "higher end" type places in Watkins Glen). Menu includes a few of the standard local wines, which was nice!

The owner was aware of this and expected us to spend part of our 3-day trip going out of our way to pump out the tanks, which really cut into our plans. The bow thrusters didn't work, which made it extremely hard (and sometimes unsafe) for us as beginners to handle such a long canal boat through locks and docks. On top of that, the bikes listed in the rental weren't there, and instead of the promised refrigerator, we were given a cooler with ice. While the owner did have explanations for these issues, he never gave us a heads-up before we arrived, nor did he offer any partial or full refund. Between the missing amenities, broken equipment, and the sewage issue, the whole trip fell far short of what was advertised, and we returned the boat after one day. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this rental.
