They are knowledgeable of the area as well as do not mind sharing any useful tips when exploring if needed, but ensure privacy is respected. Most of them seem really simple to fix, so I was a little let down that as busy as they are and as hard as it is to get reservations that they dont carve out time to upgrade. The bed was so uncomfortable that you sink in the middle. My husband ended up sleeping on the twin bunk because he suffers with back pain and couldn't tolerate the mattress. The couch is also pretty sunken in and at a strange slope. Its a pretty couch but not comfortable. The jets in the hot tub need major cleaning. The shower curtain is pretty disgusting and needs to be replaced or thoroughly cleaned. The condition of the pots and pans are unacceptable. It would be nice to have some disinfectant spray to clean the counters and tables and a new sponge for washing dishes. I think a privacy curtain would be excellent for the front door. Being able to see through as the breakfast gets delivered is not ideal or private. Overall, we had a nice stay here and would probably come again if these issues were updated. The cabin is private and quiet. The trails are a nice feature to walk around in. The location was great.

A pad listing supplies wanted (e.g. towels, soap) can be filled out and affixed to the outside of the door. We found the housekeepers to be very prompt in filling our requests each day. Owners - informative, friendly and seemingly always available. Affordability - a relative bargain considering all of the above.

One of the positives, and one of the main reasons I booked here was because it was on the lake. I booked a lake view room and was looking forward to opening the blinds in the morning and having a great view. Unfortunately that was not the case, even with high Hilton status. To be fair we were given a lake view, but it was out of the one and only window which was small and not close to what I was envisioning. Minus a star there. The hotel receptionist was kind and we checked in quickly and easily. The lobby is nice and inviting and there is a bar/restaurant on the same level. You can also pick up snacks and drinks in the pantry type area. There is access on this level to the outside pool and bar area which is right up against the lake. Our room, which was close to the elevators towards the middle of the hotel was fine. The king bed was comfortable. The bathroom was quite spacious with a huge shower. The toilet was separate with its own door which was nice. We had a small dining table with two chairs, a fridge, small open closet and pegs which you could put a coat etc on in the little entranceway. Of course a decent sized TV as well. The layout was odd for this room. It would seem for a hotel with such a beautiful lakefront view you would highlight that. Perhaps a sofa across from the small window to take advantage of that. There were some stains on the carpet (one fairly large red one which I assumed to be red wine) and scuff marks from the chairs along the walls. I stay at a lot of hotels for business and details matter. Minus a star there. One of the great things about the room was how quiet it was. Rarely did we hear anything from the hallway or rooms next door. While we were there (fallish) they have bands on Wednesday evenings and even being fairly close to the stage set up we didn't really hear too much. I really liked that. They have a decent gym with free weights, a few machines, treadmills and bikes. It's located on the lower level and it is kept nice and cold. I enjoyed getting some morning workouts there. Also right outside are trails along the lake and one along a nature preserve which we walked in the afternoon. Very nice and peaceful. The hotels 4th and 5th floors are condos but didn't seem to be many in use when we were there. The parking lot was spacious. The location was nice as you could walk to many restaurants, a grocery store and a few fast food options. In all I enjoyed the quietness and great sleep I got here, the location and the limited lake views from the room.

Nice views of the lake from your balcony. However, there's one big downside to the place which is why I rated it only 3 stars: the rooms are not well sound-proofed. You can here your neighbors' conversations through the walls (as well as their TVs), you can hear their toilets flush, their bureau drawers close, and you can hear the footsteps thumping above your room. This is quite annoying and unpleasant. Especially when you're woken up by an early bird at 4 AM running the shower. The place is about 3 years old - if it really wanted to be a high class resort, they should've spent more money on solidly built walls and floors instead of mere appearances. I'd rather have had less frou-frou and more quiet for a better night's sleep and a more relaxing stay.
