Nice experience at this historic jazz club. It's an intimate club that doesn't seem to have a bad seat. The ticket prices are reasonable and there is a $20 per person minimum spend once you get to the club. You can sit at the bar for drinks or at the table for a meal. We had dinner there and the food was really good. Service was great. The music was good but the set was pretty short (1 hour 20 minutes). Glad we had this historic experience.

Love this place. Amazing jazz bar. They have different bands every day for every one. Service is great too. If you love Jazz and in town, please give it a chance. You won't regret.

When I lived in NYC, I loved coming here. They have great jazz musicians. Unlike other jazz clubs, they don't pack you in so that you're sitting on top of people. They have a bar and tables. I ordered a ticket online for the John Coltrane revisited 24 th anniversary. It was wonderful! Each of the artists was gifted and each had a chance to shine. They have a $20 drink/food minimum. I ordered an espresso martini. They have a full dinner menu, including appetizers and desserts.

This is a nice underground jazz club. $40 to get a table ticket for a concert + $20 order is required. You can also watch the concert live online on their YouTube channel.

Like stepping back into a 50's jazz club! We've seen several shows here, the most recent of which being Stacey Kent. We opted to get tickets for the bar area, and ended up sitting at the bar with a great bartender serving us. Whether you get tickets in the bar area or the stage area, it requires a $25 per person food or beverage minimum. The drinks were well made and not overpriced like some Manhattan spots. The cheese plate and the other appetizers were tasty (we did not order any large plates). Sound acoustics were great!

We were visiting New York City and got tickets to a show at Birdland. The evening exceeded our expectations. Here's why... - The show was great...but that's very dependent on the performer, I'm sure. The place is so intimate...I don't think that there is a bad seat in the place. - We were surprised at how reasonable the food menu prices were. We decided to stick with bar food because we were a bit skeptical of how good the other entrees would be at a place that isn't focused on being a restaurant. While we enjoyed our meal, after seeing the food other people around us were getting (including how big the portion sizes were), we decided that we had made a tactical error and would order differently next time. - Having said that, the fries were incredible...very addicting! The sliders were good but ordinary. The plantain chips and guac was excellent. - Service was really great too. Bottom line: Next time we're in New York, Birdland will be on our list of places to get back to and we'll be ordering some of those yummy looking entrees!

Amazing place with impeccable ambiance! Bought tickets the night before and waited in line with my tickets about 20 minutes before the show started. We quickly got seated by the server (first come, first serve seating arrangement) and began to order food and drinks. Although the food was quick to come out, it was more on the basic side.. but I assumed the logic is 'you come for the jazz/show, not the food.' Drinks were fairly priced and servers were attentive. Would definitely come back again as it was hard to find a place that served some light bites yet still being able to enjoy a great show! Show lasted about an hour and a half.

My words are not going to be enough to describe how good Birdland is with everything, but I'll try in any case. Tickets cost between $30-50 per person plus a $20 minimum for food/drinks. Be sure to reach early to get the best tables. That being said, the ambiance at Birdland is so cozy and warm. All the performers interact with the crowd and are so nice. Most venues like these don't bother much with their food options but Birdland seems to really care. We had had a long and tiring day and requested for hot waters as we were sat down, and they were quick to bring them to us. We tried the chicken panini, margherita pizza and the tiramisu from their dinner menu. The food was some of the best I've had in NYC. I think what makes this place very special is the performers and the service staff. They really made sure we were well taken care of. If you're spending a night in NYC, this is an absolute must try experience!

fantastic service, fantastic music, and great food. the mussels are my favorite and a must order. drinks here are pretty average and nothing special but they do the job. overall always enjoy coming here, genuinely the best music acts and acoustics i've ever encountered at a jazz bar. tickets are expensive compared to other spots but honestly worth it for the quality of music.

I had a wonderful night out at the Birdland Jazz club. The place is absolutely beautiful and I love how it doesn't feel modernized at all it felt like I was entering a Time Machine, what a beautiful experience. The stage, and the seating everything is so intimate. Doesn't seem like there's a bad view in the place. I really enjoyed the setting. I also thought the outfits for the servers were so cute. we ordered the muscles, the calamari, and the steak. Everything was good, definitely had better at other restaurants, however I understand this place is for the music and drinks mostly. Had a lovely experience! Server could have been more engaging with us.

Beautiful jazz club located near Times Square. We were seated on the bottom floor, where the stage was up close and our servers were knowledgeable and quick. Overall, the food was delicious and the drinks did not disappoint. Highly recommend if you're looking to just grab a few drinks or a bite and to hear live music up close and personal. Definitely recommend getting tickets ahead of time & a side of fries will feed four people.

    Ask the Community - Birdland

Can 16 year olds go here?

    Yes they can.

What is the cover & is food/bev mandatory?

Depends upon the act for the ticket price, there is a minimum $20 per person food and beverage.

I haven't been to birdland for 5 years. On that day I arrived early, was seated downstairs, WHICH I DETESTED! How can I be sure I will sit upstairs when I order tickets?

If the show says "in the theater" it's in the downstairs venue. The shows should all state if they're in Birdland or the Birdland Theater.

Do you have to be 21 to attend this place?

No. I just saw Elaine Elias at an 8:30 show, there was a little girl in the audience, and she was called on by the performer.

What non alcoholic drinks does birdland serve and if yes how much would they be? How about are diet sodas served?

Yes, we offer non-alcoholic drinks, and do have diet soda.

Is there live music every night? Or only for the tickets available on Eventbrite?

There is live music every night. We recommend purchasing tickets through our website (birdlandjazz.com), and do reserve some walk-up tickets as well.

    How is the food?

We did not partake. But the food looked and smelled very good.

Is there a mandatory 20% gratitude? It was included in our check without any notice.

    I believe it was mandatory.

Can I bring my 16 year old son? He's a musician and I think would love this. I don't see anything saying 21 and over.

    Yes.

    Is there a dress code?

No there is no dress code. I wouldn't go in torn jeans and a sloppy shirt, but you can wear whatever you are comfortable wearing.

    Is there an age requirement?

    No.

Was the food expensive ? There are no prices online

Moderate. We usually eat off the appetizer menu.

I was warmly greeted by the gentleman at the door (5 service there), which set a great first impression. However, as soon as I walked downstairs, it felt like the space had lost its speakeasy vibe. I was seated right near the stairs and could feel cold air from outside every time the door opened, which made the experience uncomfortable. I was also surprised to see how much the cocktail menu had been reduced. When I asked about it, the response was that "the place changed a lot." That's fair -- places evolve -- but instead of highlighting the improvements or new strengths, the explanation focused negatively on what the bar used to be. As someone who really enjoyed the former version, that wasn't reassuring. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves didn't make up for it. One of the two cocktails was simply not good. No one came back to check on the drinks, and when I asked for the check after about 20 minutes, there was no acknowledgment that I had barely touched mine or any inquiry about my experience. Overall, a place I once enjoyed and recommended now feels more like a standard dive bar where " Mixologist " were replaced by bartender and were fun cool looking and tasty drinks were replaced by " less complex cocktail ", lacking the warmth and attention to detail that once made it special.

It somehow manages to feel both refined and relaxed at the same time. The kind of place where you half expect to spot Hemingway in the corner pretending not to eavesdrop. We started with half a dozen oysters, which were fresh, briny, and exactly what you want with serious cocktails. Crisp, clean, gone in about three minutes. For drinks, we ordered the Smoke Show and the King Tusk. The Smoke Show was beautifully balanced. The Grey Goose vodka and Dolin Dry gave it that classic martini backbone, but the fino sherry and brine added depth. The smoked olive oil and blue cheese olive brought just enough savory drama without overpowering the glass. It was complex but not fussy. The King Tusk leaned more aromatic and layered. The vermouths gave it richness, while the Buddha's Hand and osmanthus flower added subtle citrus and floral notes that lingered in a really elegant way. It felt like a cocktail designed to be savored slowly. The music fit the mood perfectly, not too loud, just enough to give the room energy without killing conversation. Overall, it's a great spot if you want elevated drinks in a space that feels transportive without being pretentious.
