Smoked Trout Dip Large ACG Caesar

Food here was amazing! Caesar salad was fresh and the dressing was delicious. Smoked trout dip with crackers was also good. Steak frites was so tender and would definitely get again! Service is very quick and friendly. Also refilled the water fast! Cute ambiance and it was cool we sat facing the kitchen!

Big open space restaurant located in or around the Bergamot Station area in Santa Monica. The space is clean and fun with plenty of exposed brick. It's hard to put this restaurant in a box or classify it. With matzo ball soup on the menu, there's an obvious Jewish influence there, but the rest of the menu has modern and traditional takes on various menu items that feel both exotic and familiar. So I guess...New American? Regardless, there are lots of delicious sounding items on the menu to order including a daily special where they don't like to have the items on the every day menu, but are made available at least once a week. I came in late on a Saturday night by myself (I was leaving a late day birthday get together and was on the way home and hungry). They were kind of near closing time, so I asked the host if it were still possible to get seated. They accommodated me at the chef's counter. Luckily, this is typically my favorite place to sit. I ended up ordering the daily special or the blue plate - Duck Parmigiana - confit duck leg, pressed with garlic confit and all the cheese, then breaded, fried, and served with vodka sauce and basil. Really delicious. As you can probably guess, the dish was rich but didn't eat too heavy. I love chicken or eggplant parmigianas so this dish was right up my alley. I also ordered the matzo ball soup. Also very, very delicious with a healthy amount of dill. Light and comforting at the same time. I also ordered a cocktail - the Herbal Bomb - to help wash it all down. I was too full to order dessert there and by the time I was finishing up, I was one of the last people in the place so I wanted to get out of their hair, even though I felt no pressure to leave. But I felt like I couldn't leave without ordering their "World-Famous Rose Petal Pie", so I ended up getting a slice to go. Definitely a tasty, indulgent treat to enjoy while catching up on shows/movies when I got home. My pic probably doesn't do it justice. I can see the presentation being much more beautiful in house. If you are looking for a fantastic restaurant that feels like it can be for a somewhat casual meet up or a nice evening out with a fun menu, this is a great restaurant to consider.

The dining room is spacious & bustling, though parking availability & restrictions make it a challenging trip to dine at this refine, yet casual restaurant. Our server elevated our dining experience... offering recommendations, brief deets on our entrees, & the perfect amount of check-ins (like not asking how's the meal in mid-chew, water refills without prompts). My brother wanted to celebrate H's 12th birthday & introduce BG's to elevate her child palate. B always had a thing for their almonds & it's an absolute must for him; they're quite addictive. I found the cornbread appealing in texture & flavor; dense yet moist, accompanied by a lovely butter spread with a kick of chili. The tomato salad was a refreshing surprise! I'm not a fan of tomatoes & eat it as an accompaniment to a burger or salad, but BG's prep is flavorful & masterful. I'm a diehard peach lover & this is one of the best appetizers to whet my palate... tender & juicy, harmonized with carrot 'nduja & cashew gouda. The matzo ball soup was comforting, though I could have skipped it along with the fries (H still had her kid preferences) since they came with the steak. The grouper was my favorite dish of the night... the serving was on the smaller side, probably because their servings are meant for family-style sharing. I love, love, love the basil pistou... so much flavor from basil, garlic, & olive oil that's balanced with a sweet corn sauce & sweet, savory squash blossoms. We ordered the steak to be cooked to medium, but it was more medium-well. It was more buttery & rich than a filet mignon, but other than that, it was just ok; nothing spectacular that makes this a must. We ended the meal with their infamous, aesthetically eye-catching pie; a strawberry mousse concoction with jello that's fragrant with rose, yet not overly sweet. The persimmon puff was fantabulous... jammy soft, melting sweetness of floral honey, apricot, mango with a lemon zing! I paired a couple of refreshing cocktails. I especially love Cali Crushin' blend of flavors = slurp happiness! I will be sad to see you go Birdie G's, & coming back in a couple of days to celebrate my son's 10th & his academic achievements before you're gone. Recommended: Lavender Almonds, Deanie's Cornbread, Heirloom Tomato Salad, Gold Dust Peach, Matzo Ball Soup, Baja Grouper with Summer Squash, 8 oz. Located at n one of the quieter areas of Santa Monica in the environs of Bergamot station, Birdie G's is a throwback to Eastern European cuisine with such staples as matzoh ball soup, brisket, and loc, in addition to similar offerings. Although the outdoor area is pleasant due to its lack of noisy traffic, prices are high and the requirement for costly valet parking despite a surfeit or nearby parking spaces is annoying.

My heart is happy and my stomach is full Thank you @birdiegsla @chefjeremyfox for my most seamless & meaningful dining experience in a long time The food was high quality, seasonal, simple yet perfectly executed and balanced. I could sense the concepts but nothing was over complicated. The bar experience was awesome and the patio dining portion too. The ambience was casual yet elegant. All the staff were knowledgeable, welcoming and attentive but not at all overbearing. I've already booked my next visit

I'm so sad to hear that Birdie G will be closing down at the end of the year but glad that I got a chance to check it out! From their introduction, I think they serve modern American food with an eastern European influence and using fresh California ingredients. Started off with the mushroom fritti which was quite yummy! You really can't go wrong with fried mushrooms but I liked the chunkiness of each mushroom pieces with it still being cooked thoroughly. The rosemary was a nice touch to add some extra aroma. The caesar salad exceeded my expectations! I loved their version of the sauce and how generously tossed the fresh veggies were. More importantly I loved how much black pepper they incorporated because it really brought out the mixture of flavors. For mains, the skirt steak was delicous! It was super super tender and packed with flavors. The pickle chick cutlet was alright for me because I'm not a huge fan of chicken breast, but I do appreciate how it was chewy for the most part. For dessert, the rose petal cake was aesthetically pleasing. Strawberry mousse with red jello. The crust was yummy with the crunchy and flakey pretzel bites. For drinks, I enjoyed the Persimmon Me Timbers with the fruity flavor. The Don't Be Corny was a little too strong for me; corn flavors were very faint and more like corn flakes than corn. Staff were nice and friendly. Lots of seating indoors and out. Intimate setting with fairy lights but also great for bigger parties/celebrations. On a weeknight, we easily found street parking the next street over but they also have valet available.

Ain't nothing but a G thang, baby, a delicious Caesar salad and cornbread oh maybe, Birdie G's for nice dinner out and spending. Tucked away in the Bergamot station in Santa Monica, this fine dining restaurant offers pleasant customer service, eloquent atmosphere, and tasty dishes. Although the portions are on the smaller side, the flavor is rewarding. I really liked the cornbread, Caesar salad, and mushroom frites. On the $$ to $$$ side, limited parking on the street but does offer valet.

    Cheers to you Birdie G's

We've been to Birdie G five times now, and it has never once disappointed us. Last night was no exception--absolutely superb, just as it always has been. The wait staff is consistently attentive, and every dish feels like it's made with care. The market salad was incredibly fresh, the ravioli was outstanding, and the chicken with polenta was amazing--we actually remembered how good it was two years ago when we ordered it back then, and it was just as delicious this time. Desserts are a must here. The chocolate cake is decadent and the date Bundt cake is truly special. It's heartbreaking to know they'll be closing their doors at the end of this year. Birdie G has been one of those rare restaurants we could always count on for an excellent meal and warm hospitality. We'll definitely be back again before the final day, and we'll truly miss this gem once it's gone

I first have to say, the service was unbeatable. My server, Kelly T, was friendly and very helpful answering my millions of questions. She made great recommendations too! I sat right in front of the kitchen. It was really nice to see food being prepared right in front of me. I got the olives, tomato salad, trout dip, burger, and crème brûlée. Honestly, everything was delicious and prepared perfectly. The burger was a perfect medium rare, and I love that they offered to split it for me before serving (I split it with a friend). The drinks were also really nice and made with interesting ingredients. I forgot the name, but my favorite was a margarita with a Sichuan chili spice. Delicious! I'll have to come back for brunch!

Food, drinks, service, and ambient were all lovely. Rabbit and smoked trout were stand outs. Burger was excellent too. Had a really great dinner here!

The whole menu feels original--playful and well thought out. One standout was the Pickle Chick, a crispy fried chicken cutlet topped with layers of tangy pickles. Totally unique, totally delicious. We enjoyed sharing the Big Ravioli--actually two big ravioli--stuffed with rich Italian sausage and topped with a flavorful sauce that hit all the right notes. Also loved the grilled artichoke--it was so soft I ended up eating most of the leaves. And of course, the Bundt Cake is still one of the best desserts we've had in the U.S.--moist, warm, drenched in rich caramel. Cocktails were creative and balanced, and the vibe was lively without being overwhelming. Staff were warm and professional. The dry-aging fridge in the back adds a nice touch and raises expectations for the steaks. Whether you're with family, celebrating something special, or trying to impress your boss--this spot delivers every time.

A Fantastic Meal... Until Dessert Ruined It Everything was great--the cocktails were phenomenal, the snacks were amazing. We had the Buffalo eggs, cucumbers, and fries, and every bite was better than the last. The drinks? Perfection. We were having a fantastic time... until we made the mistake of ordering dessert. The so-called Rose Petal Pie is not a pie. It's a 1970s jello mold trying to pass as a "modern" dessert, and for $15, it's basically a very expensive bite of air. No real substance--just a wobbly, forgettable, overpriced letdown. It looks pretty, sure, but I didn't come here for an art installation. I wanted a pie. So, by all means, come for the drinks and snacks. They're absolutely worth it. But do yourself a favor and skip the pie.

What an amazing restaurant; the burger was phenomenal - probably one of the best in the westside. Their chicken special (like chicken schnitzel) was good, and I would get it again. It's just not a show stopper the way it was advertised. Their matzo ball soup and the raviolo were spectacular appetizers. Overall, I would definitely go again

Thanks for flipping my leftovers upside down so none of the sauce is salvageable

My husband opted for a neat Caballito Cerrero Puntas pour (high proof agave spirit). They only had 0.5 Oz for their bottle and only charged for the partial pour. People came in and ordered anything from cocktails to neat pours to flights. It was a cool spot and the bartenders seemed pretty well versed in different cocktails, giving a few suggestions to different patrons. Even making a few Espresso Martinis for a couple of girls that didn't really like their initial cocktails. Staff was cool, attentive, and pretty quick and efficient with the pours. Most of the bars are dive bars in downtown Santa Monica, and parking is quite accessible for this place. So I'd recommend for that reason. In terms of the drinks, I'm a huge fan of cocktail but I would say their menu selections are a bit limited. Nothing in the signature cocktail looks interesting to me, so I had the bartender make a classic cocktail instead. He's very attentive and friendly, didn't take forever to get a drink either, no attitude. Drinks aren't watered down either. Nice! You come here to grab quick drinks when you don't feel like being at a loud dive bar in the area, it's in a hotel but not too upscale, no strict dress code. Music is not loud and they have couches and booth if bar table if not your thing, you don't have to yell or pretend you hear everything to hold a conversation here (lol). ** Keep in mind 20% gratuity is automatically included in bill, it's my first time here. But I think I've other spots I'd prefer to be in, even at Santa Monica. Wouldn't be self-motivated to come back because there are better places that specialises mixology, and there are also better upscale hotel bars to be at. But if you're around the area it's a great intimate bar for date night that's not overly pricey. Wouldn't travel all the way to here just for this (if you know what I mean).
