Nice atmosphere with lovely artwork throughout. Right down the road from 3rd street promenade There is a public multi level parking structure right next door plus street parking. Watch out because street parking is limited to permit after 6pm. Seating both inside and outside. There is a private room upstairs for parties and events. Happy hour available. Food is beautifully plated. Trout was a bit of a disappointment. The olives didn't seem to work with the grapefruit and fennel. Dessert trio was a nice combo

It has taken me this long to have an adventure at this magical place. The service was impeccable, detail oriented and smiles filled the energy of the restaurant. I wan to work here because I felt happy and seen! Meeting Michael was the icing on the birthday cake and the food filled my mouth and stomach like a diamond in the sky. I'm coming back soon for more. Happy hour made me happy until 7pm. Come join the fun!

Tuna was tasty, but was supposed to be hamachi.

We tried several Dine LA offerings in July/August of 2025, and this was the most disappointing. Portions were small, everything tasted good enough, but none of the entrees - Trout Almondine and Ribeye - were served even warm, much less hot. The ribeye was also scrawny. Salad was excellent, tuna crudo was uninspiring (was supposed to be hamachi), and the deserts were very good. The place was rocking, and as usual the back patio was lovely. Service was good but the servers were clearly overwhelmed. But I do expect more from Michael's, having been there many times over the years. Typically it's excellent. This meal was just meh.

Wow--Michael's truly delivered! I recently moved to Santa Monica, and my boyfriend insisted we check out Michael's--and I'm so glad we did. We stopped by during happy hour and ordered the fish and chips, oysters, wings, and the lobster roll. Everything was a 10/10. The service was fantastic--our waiter was attentive and checked in on us regularly. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it the perfect place for Happy hour or dinner. Another bonus: it's just a short walk from the Promenade, which makes it super convenient. I've been dreaming about those fish and chips ever since. Can't wait for my next visit!

Went to Michael's with a few friends and we all really enjoyed it. I was concerned about parking and found that there was a public parking structure with inexpensive parking. We were seated on the back patio which had a lot of shade. The space had a good vibe to it. Our server never rushed us, she took the time to answer questions about the menu and made recommendations. So many times, you feel as if a server is there to do a job, our server was very personable. We shared a couple of Wild Mushroom tarts and for my entree, I had the Prime Short Rib. All of us enjoyed the food. At one point, Michael stopped by the table to greet us. I knew that the restaurant opened up in 1979 and a lot of chefs who went on to become legends started their career at Michael's. I found myself amazed that the restaurant had been open for 45 years which says something and that Michael was still greeting guests.

Excellent dinner celebrating my mom's birthday! It was lovely sitting outside protected by a tall awning. They gave heaters spread throughout so we never felt cold. We had syrah and a bottle of champagne that was amazing. We startes with the bread, fig salad and sausage pizza and incredible. We all loved what we ordered from the delicious branzino, wagu Bolognese, chicken and hamburger. We shared sides of cauliflower and truffle fries. For dessert we had pretty much everything on the list and are it up until we were all stuffed. I hope to return soon!

I've come here a few times now and it has not disappointed. Drinks are always delicious, the service is always on point. A few times the owner has come by and personally greeted to see how my experience was. I love going sunset hour because it has such a beautiful quiet atmosphere from the surrounding neighborhood.

The ambiance is beautifully done, modern coastal. Perfect for a comfortable but elevated dinner. We started with the bread service, chili wontons, and gem lettuce. The bread service was my favorite, warm, soft, and the miso butter was divine. The chili wontons were also a standout, especially if you enjoy dim sum. They had great flavor and balance. The gem lettuce was fresh and simple, reminiscent of Jon & Vinny's in the best way. For entrees we had the butter shrimp and Scottish salmon, both really good, no complaints. But honestly the appetizers stole the show for me. Would definitely come back just to try more of the starters. Such a good spot.

It was a Saturday night and pretty empty, but we did go on the earlier side. Our server was also really friendly and attentive, definitely a highlight. The food just didn't hit for us. The bread service was disappointing and looked nothing like the photos we saw. Not sure if we got the wrong thing, but it wasn't good. The shrimp toast was decent but super heavy. The Caesar was not great, and no one mentioned it comes with whole anchovies on top. I'm fine with anchovy in the dressing, but the actual pieces were a lot. The chicken karaage was okay, again really heavy, but the sauce was the best part. We also tried the taco special which was just alright, nothing memorable. Overall, the vibe and service were good, but the food didn't live up to it. Probably wouldn't come back.

We probably waited 5-7 minutes before someone acknowledged our presence and came to seat us and check us in for our reservation. Not one server would make eye contact and even going up to the bar to try to get help did not work. When we were finally seated we had to ask for menus once we could catch a server a few minutes later. Some of us ordered drinks and we put in our food orders right away in case our waiter wouldn't come back, since everything had taken so much time already. Our coffees did come but no creamer as discussed, so again we had to flag down a waiter (always took a few attempts) before we could enjoy our coffees. Luckily, our food came out so fast! Our food was in front of us in about 10 minutes from ordering which was insane compared to the rest of the service. Our meals were delicious too! I had the breakfast burrito and did need more salsa for the other half (we had to flag down a server again). My husband gave up waiting for more salsa for his last half of his burrito and just ate it without. My friends had the smoked salmon bagel, avocado toast, and American breakfast. Everyone's meals were honestly fantastic. Finally at the end of our meal, we had to flag down our server to get our check. We ended up just paying with him as soon as he brought the check so we didn't have to wait any longer. The food is worth it but we wouldn't go back intentionally just due to lack of service.

It's located in the old Clock Tower building, and the Art Deco decor is absolutely stunning--dark enough to hide a bad day but vibrant enough for a girls' night. The Vibe: It's loud, lively, and perfectly "bohemian chic". If you're coming on a weekend, prepare for a crowd, but it's the good kind of crowded where everyone looks like they just came from a gallery opening. The Food: I'm still thinking about the Crispy Chicken Sandwich--it was juicy, perfectly seasoned, and came with a fennel-apple slaw that actually felt fresh. We also shared the Bacon Wrapped Dates (obviously) and the Hand Cut Kennebec Fries, which arrive in a bowl so huge it could basically be its own zip code. The Drinks: Their Happy Hour is arguably the best in the city. I had the Japanese Dream with matcha, and it was expertly crafted--not too sweet, which is my biggest pet peeve. The "Misfit" Moment: The service can be a tiny bit slow when it's "rammed," and there's a 4% kitchen fee that feels a bit unnecessary, but they make up for it with those complimentary sea salt chocolate chip cookies at the end. They are warm, gooey, and life-changing. One major heads-up: I heard a rumor they might be closing their doors on April 18th due to some landlord drama, so get there while you still can.

It swings from Vietnamese small plates to a straightforward steak, and the range never settles into a point of view -- it reads less like a confident eclectic kitchen than a grab bag. It came with a fish sauce for dipping that it didn't need -- a wedge of lemon on the side would have suited it far better. The Vietnamese crab cake was a real miss; I couldn't get past it. The dumplings were fine but forgettable. Service ran to extremes. Our server was warm and eager, almost too eager -- he pushed a bottle of wine we weren't sold on, and we ordered it anyway.
