We stopped by Bird Bakery in Highland Park Village this weekend. The owner of this brand is Elizabeth Chamber. There are three locations - San Antonio, Dallas, and Denver. It's a cute cafe with a great variety of cupcakes, cookies, croissants and other sweet and savory French bakery items, and a small sandwich menu. This location is super cute, and a great atmosphere to grab a cup of coffee and nibble on some sweets. We got our treats to go - 6 pack of mini cupcakes and a double chocolate chip cookie. The presentation is super cute, as which everything here. I was not that happy with the cupcakes, I thought most of them were too dense and dry. I'm not sure whether this was because they were mini cupcakes or because the inventory was old. The chocolate mini cupcake was moist and airy, like it should be, so maybe we just went on an off day where the items were a day or so old. The chocolate chip cookie was absolutely delicious, so it's clear they know what they are doing. I'm willing to give it another try, the inconsistency is just a bit frustrating. If you are in the area, this bakery is definitely worth stopping by. It is family friendly, and they have something for everyone. read more

I wish they had later bakery hours, it makes it hard to make it here before they close in the evening after work. The cupcakes are very fresh in the morning, sometimes a bit staler if they've been sitting outside for a while for the entire day, but still generally delicious. My favorite is the Elvis - a peanut butter, chocolate, banana cupcake. Also love all the more basic ones as well (chocolate, red velvet, vanilla, etc.). I also love their cookies, have only tried oatmeal and the chocolate chip espresso/java (? I'm sorry, I forget!) cookies, but would highly recommend both. It was around 4:00 PM when I came in and there were some other people eating but it wasn't too busy. I got the the tuna melt. The service was friendly and quick. So I have to sadly lower the rating on my review. I literally went 5 times last week & 4 of those times they mess up my order. I'm just so tired of calling them because of something they missed I understand it's busy but they need to do order how you ask them. The person that makes the sandwich does it the way they want I'm pregnant I ask for grilled turkey and toasted bread and yet again they mess up my order. Updated Review: I love the food here however I made a dessert order and it was a horrific experience I ordered a dozen sugar cookies paid ahead and received the ugliest sugar cookies I have seen in my life. The icing and shipping was completely sloppy. When they first showed me the cookies it was the wrong colors and details and shapes where awkwardly.i told the bakery associate about the sloppiness and procedded to get the manager when. the manager came out I told her about one of them being bent she said that cookies and bend it was out of her control ??? yeah when you pay $51 for a dozen cookies you expect more than that 3 of the shapes that I wanted where changed 1 because the associate I spoke to in the email said they didn't have the shape which was ok but what about the hexagon being awkwardly shaped ? and one of the shapes the completely changed without my consent. the manager said she could fix it because they hadn't even have the gold letters that I wanted nor the gold splash she said I had to wait 10-15 minutes which I really was in a rush but I had no option but to wait I wait the 10-15 minutes and she tried to fix however after the 10-15 minutes passed the change was still didn't meet my expectations but I saw the manager was very unwilling and I also had no more time and took the cookies I also asked if the would smudge she said no and when I got home some of them where smudged and that was the last straw and threw them away as I couldn't serve sloppy smudged cookies. I threw away $51 and associates and managers will not admit that they couldn't do my design !! read more

First of all, the aesthetics of this cute bakery are on point. They totally fit their of highland park village. There are so many dessert options, from cupcakes, to brownies, to cookies, etc. I went with the Mexican hot chocolate brownie- YUM....the taste was spot on. Very dense and chocolatey with the spices of Mexican hot chocolate. I also got the snow bird- which is their version of an affogato. That's was also SO GOOD. The size of it was very good compared to other spots that offer affogatos. It is two scoops of ice cream, espresso , and caramel. My friend got a hot latte and a walnut brownie. Out bee bopping around after Xmas and got super hungry. Stopped here at Bird Bakery because there were cute outdoor patio tables and the day was beautiful and perfect to eat outside. Walked inside and said, OMG-the first thing you see is the cupcake case followed by the cookies. Yes? I finally raised my eyes up to the menu and ordered the Chicken Tarragon sandwich along with a slice of pumpkin bread and an Oatmeal cookie. This is by far the cutest bakery I've ever been too! First off, the area is so nice and classy. They have nice chairs & tables outside as well as inside. The decorations are so modern too! I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this little shop. When we walked in the staff was so kind and attentive. They immediately asked us what we would like and was patient while we were deciding. We ordered a coconut vanilla cupcake along with a carrot cake cupcake. We also got an iced salted caramel latte too. Everything was delicious, especially the cupcakes. Each bite was heavenly. I just adore this place! Bird Bakery is the perfect lunch spot. The inside is adorable and maintains a cozy atmosphere while still being chic. The sandwiches are delicious. I ordered the California Turkey with no cheese and asked for it toasted. The sandwiches don't come toasted, but if you know you prefer that texture - definitely ask! The flavors all pair together so well. I especially love the raspberry chipotle mayo. It makes the sandwich so unique. Of course the pastry items are wonderful as well. We found out about this place from another customer at Lululemon who overheard us asking the salesperson where to get a good cupcake in town. She said we had to go to Bird Bakery! Loved the atmosphere-so cheerful and cute-and right in Highland Park Village-probably the most upscale shopping area around in Dallas. The people that worked there were so friendly! I wanted to buy one of their tee shirts and one of the girls helped me go through all of the shirts, but sadly they were out of my size. I did buy some lovely liquid hand soap and also a candle for a gift for a friend and they packaged it in a bag and tissue paper for me. Oh yea, the cupcakes! Awesome! and they had lots of other fun things like sandwiches and stuff but we just came to split a cupcake. Had a strawberry cupcake-loved the frosting and sprinkles and the cake itself. AMAZING MINIS and full size - but I love love the minis they are the perfect size to not overeat but I could eat a million of them! My favorite flavor is banana nutella! It has the tastiest Nutella chunks in it and I could eat it forever. The place itself has such a nice atmosphere and is the perfect spot to go do some work indoors or out.
