My first impression was ok. The place could have been labeled better for new people. The people that work there are friendly and helpful enough. But my jaw dropped that I would be there 2-3 hours. Tempe- I arrived at 6:45 for a 7 pm appt, signed in at 6:50p, completed the check-in process, and stood in line (with several other donors) until one of the staff from the donation area walked to the front and blurted out that they weren't taking any more donors. She didn't even address us personally, she just said it like whatever! What? I stood in line and it's now 7:40 pm and just like that, you tell us you're not taking anyone else? Is this common practice? Could management have asked us at 7:20, 7:25, 7:30.... if we would like to reschedule? I drove 45 minutes one way; I stood in that line, and just like that I was rudely informed that there was no chance for me to donate. Is this common practice? Did I miss it in the fine print that my appt time can be terminated because they are running late/out of time? This same staff made her way back to the donation area, making sure to tell the staff working the opposite side of her, not to accept anyone else. Did she think we were just going to take it upon ourselves to plop down on a chair? Then, after all that, she allowed the first person in our line into that section she just told them not to accept anyone, and then pulled the next two people in our line and allowed them to donate in her section! Then, what I assume to be a manager, came out of his office and started apologizing and offering business cards, which I later found out was a "Come Back Get Paid" card. Which isn't a terrible deal, but as polite as he was trying to be, I was already put off by the way the previous staff had approached the situation. I was the last person he spoke with and by the time he got to me, I was livid! He kept apologizing to which I told him it was not okay! Then he told me that I should try to book earlier appts because this can happen with the later appts. Then WHY do they have those appts? Those appts happen to be the only time that works for my evening. How can the business offer those appt times but then make people leave because they are running late/out of time? I don't understand! Do all the locations follow this same practice? This was rude and unacceptable! read more

I've seen so many negative comments that I decide to give my feedback. I've never had an issue and I've always felt everyone was polite. I go when I receive promotions, so I'm not a weekly donor. I've had my samples taken, and in one occasion, I was not able to finte because the lad results had not arrived. I didn't think it was a big deal and just rescheduled. I've had interactions with new and old staff. I would say they are all polite. If one nurse can't get the middle in correctly in second attempt they all have asked someone else to try. I had an appointment for 6 PM on a Friday. I showed up one minute before six. The doors were already locked. The lady at the front desk came out and told me that I was too late to come. Donate since they were already closed I tried telling her that my appointment was at six, which was still admitted away and she was super rude and told me I was SOL even though I spoke with someone on the phone and they said it was fine that I was showing up at that time. If they do not accept LGBTQ donations of PLASMA, there should be a large sign at the entry which states such -- WAY before AN LGBTQ person wastes so much time going through the entire intake process...to find out at the end of the laborious process, that they do not accept LGBTQ people. I don't know who needs to take this up with the Supreme Court. That was discrimination which I (a 60+ year old man) experienced today. I donated for the first time twice that week. when I return to donate or set up an appt. because the site wasn't working properly. After a long wait ,I was told to wait for someone to assist me with setting up a new appointment . i was told I have to wait for someone to call me. ok so I leave and now its been almost a month no response. The response that I feel , that I should have got that day. about my test results. Left on hold....... I've always donated since I was 25 or so, now I am 54 ! I started donating to help . I began by donating blood for no money just the reward of helping someone was enough for me. Then one day I was told I could get some change compensating my gas and time. so I started donating plasma. when i was donating just blood I was told I was a rare donner! just to say I am a proud donner. so i hope that I can continue being a donner. read more

Not 1 time but thing about them is they don't train enough I guess because I came in today 9/21/2022 and she stick the needle to far in , then proceeded to call someone to help her, where they was no blood flow . Nice New Facility. I was skeptical. I've never given plasma before. But I've driven by some of the other places. They looked pretty shady. This was a nice new facility. Very clean. The staff was courteous and there was plenty of them, so I didn't wait long. You can tell they are all new. They said the facility had been open less than a month. So, they were still figuring things out, but the tech I had did great. I believe with their current promotions you can make somewhere between $300-400 a month if you go as often as possible. read more

I'm giving it 2 stars because the place is not too bad. BUT, the girl named Sedona made me had a real bad experience with plasma donation. She was rude and a homophobic towards me and would not stop yelling at me and keep blaming it on me whenever I dared to move a little bit my arm or the machine stopped. She was probably right, BUT there is a way to communicate information properly and BioLife personnel should be patience enough to approach donors effectively without hostility. On the top of that, her supervisor looked at me like this was not the very first time this happens with her.... First time donating with BioLife, I had seen previous mixed reviews but I figured why not give it a shot. The staff here were so sweet! I had a wonderful experience and they walked me through everything. Yes, your first appointment does take 2-3 hours, but they are so incredibly thorough, they don't miss a step. If you're donating something that gets sent out to help other people, wouldn't you want someone to make sure that you're healthy and able to donate? They want you safe, they go over risks, anything you could think of. Overall my experience here was great and I can't wait to be back! read more

They waisted my time, gave me bruises due to poor training, and treated me like trash by making me wait almost 30 minutes after, I was finished, just to unplug me. I went in to the Tempe location today as a first time donner. I read some terrible reviews about how long it would take, so I went prepared to spend hours. I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. The intake process was organized and efficient . I had to have a very brief physical since I was a first time donner. Very easy. Then I headed back to the donation area. The chairs and equipment are all new , clean and comfortable. I had a wonderful phlebotomist , who explained everything very clearly. My entire time in the chair was about 45 minutes start to finish. The staff was courteous , knowledgeable and very caring and friendly. My appointment was at 9 and I was home by 11:10. It took me two weeks out to make an appointment for my physical and first donation. With that kind of waiting list I was hoping it would be worth the wait. I was wrong. After going through my medical history I was asked about a specific type of surgery I disclosed regarding a punctured lung back in 1997. This same incident I disclosed to BPL, CSL and Biomat plasma services and none took issue but this screener nurse at Biolife pressed me for more information that I did not have. My blood plasma has never been an issue with any other Plasma service but this screener said I could not donate until I provide necessary paperwork for her satisfaction. I felt as If I had wasted almost 2 hours of my time getting up to that process. What a waste of time! Avoid this place if at all possible! CSL and Biomat are much more professional and customer friendly. read more

I have been donating over 20 years on and off for 4 different companies. I'm fairly new to biomat . Went to the location in Tempe went to get my fingers pricked the young blonde girls hands were literally violently shaking as she went to stick my fingers as if she was extremely nervous. She then stuck my finger squeezed it lighter than my 5 year old would then proceeds to tell me she has to stick me again so I asked for a supervisor to stick me cause at this point now I'm extremely uncomfortable. She then says her and the other girl working are the only 2 managers in the building. I then asked if someone else can stick me she then starts screaming at me to leave or she would call the cops . Both workers at the desk sticking fingers couldn't of been older than 22. I then left and said I would talk to the site manager on Monday morning. Two hours later after I left the site manager calls me I asked her where she was when I was there asking for her she then tells me I'm permanently differed. I told her I'm contacting an attorney which I am then I asked her if she cared to know what happened she said no then told me she's gonna hang up and talk to the company legal team. These guys suck, don't waste your precious time coming to this location, you won't be seen in a timely matter. I've been going to this location for a year and a half, and compared to CSL they're much cleaner and friendlier, but the drawback is the wait times. I had an appointment for 4:45 on a Wednesday and didn't get my vitals checked until 5:30 because there were only two phlebotomists working the desk. When they finally brought a third person they worked slowly and chatted amongst themselves, not seeming to care that they had a line of 20 people waiting to be seen. These phlebotomists aren't used to having to actually work quickly, so when they have a long line the whole system falls apart. read more

Honestly as someone who has my certification in phlebotomy I was not excited to go in after some reviews. I was very pleasantly surprised. Everyone here is professional, respectful, clean, careful, and they have wonderful rapport. You can tell that they really do care about their patients. They are very clear on the possible side effects which I appreciated. Donation centers are very busy and for the first appointment you need to set aside a big block of time. Although they were very busy they were working very quickly. Even when things were very busy and chaotic everyone seemed to be in a light mood which always helps patients. On early visit gal missed vein and I had blood all over me. They sent me out in their scrubs. No trained phlebotomists, they "train" them themselves. Huge turnover. My last visit I was forced to have a rookie stick me against my wishes and she f'ed it all up. Machine would not work because of bad stick. After adjustment it finally took donation. Went for the first time March 2022 and was deferred for four months because of recent ear cartilage piercings I had which I was unaware of the piercing rule and had no issue with. I go back in October, and was deferred a SECOND time all because the original nurse or "doctor" that had done my physical, hadn't documented my first lobe piercing I have on both ears. They made me go through that whole process of doing the questionnaire and the physical before telling me I'm ineligible to donate and after making me wait for over three hours again wtf. The doctor tried to compromise and asked if I had a picture, at least one year old, of BOTH my ears with earrings in to prove to him that my first lobe piercings weren't recent. Who takes pictures of their ears tho?? Especially when I had them pierced when I was probably... idk 10 or 11 years old. His words were "I just have to assume you've had them pierced recently" when I told him I couldn't find a picture on my phone. I had showed him a couple pictures I had found but nothing was satisfying him. He said the picture was "too blurry" or it was too hard to tell because my hair was in the way. It just gets me the original "doctor" I'd seen had documented everything else, all my other multiple piercings, and tattoos, EXCEPT for the most basic lobe piercings that most girls get when they're infants smh. read more

at first it was all good but then when i was done donating plasma and the little alarm went off on the machine, the nurse said she'd be right back to get me but i was sitting there for almost 40 minutes because she never came back. then once a different person came by i called him over and asked if he could unhook me cause i had been done for so ping and he said "sure i've never done this before though so i need to go get someone to watch me" so then he got someone like 15 minutes later and when he was unhooking me from the machine it took him 10 minutes to finally wrap my arm because he had to keep on asking what to do. read more

I feel bad about leaving a negative review but would like to share my experience for people who are interested in donating plasma. This place is brand new but with being new comes inexperience. I went in to donate the phlebotomists went through my vein luckily another person came over and fixed me up in the other arm. The actual donation part is about an hour. When I was done the guy took the needle out and got watery blood everywhere. I gave it a couple days to heal before I went back. I explained what happened last time and asked if I could get someon with a little bit more experience. (Which you can). Well this guy with a funny mustache told me "this happens all the time it doesn't matter who does it". I told him I disagree and leave it at that. I have a history of hyper cholesterol so since I was a kid I get blood drown at least 3 times a years. When I was in the Army I took a combat life saver course and we had to give ourself and other people IV. If you were in the military you know how important and IV is on the weekends. LOL. I donated so many time to the Red Cross they sent me a special pin. Not once in 20 years have I had a vein bruise and I have veins like a pipeline! So for this guy to say this happens all the time... Not good. Anyways I had to talk to a nurse because of the bruising on my arm i was wondering if I was eligible to donate. (Which your not) This was another waste because she told me I would have to talk to another nurse because she's from Osh Gosh Wisconsin and cant make that decision. I really wanted to ask "Then why did I wait to talk to you!" "I don't have time to wait from another nurse". During our discussion she did share with me that this place is new and some of the trainees are fresh out of training. A lot of these people are out of state and don't even work at this facility permanently. I didn't even wait to talk to another nurse I was so upset because of the time i lost and the drive down here. I didn't even donate and I am closing my BioLife account so they can never ever contact me. In the military we would call this place a cluster f. They are kind, nice and courteous but untrained. If you do go ask for Kiki... I didn't even feel the needle, fast and professional! If you wanna know about donating plasma. There are a lot of places in the Valley. My co worker has been going to CLS Plasma and never had any problems and they always running $$$ specials but... here is the deal every place has different experience. I suggest you do research on place before going. Go to a place and just check it out. You probably wont donate your first day anyways. Talk to the staff and if their rude well just go to another place. they sell your plasma. Plasma centers make money off you so they need you more that you need them so your able to shop around for the best price and most important place. As far a BioLife I would not recommend this place to anyone. Their lack of experience and the feeling nobody really know what's going on is going to get someone really hurt. BioLife Plasma Services - It was a lot worse but after 4 days the swelling went down and the color has gotten better. - Blood & Plasma Donation Centers Near Me - Tempe, Arizona

This is a decent deal for the first month, but not worth it after. The regular price scheme is such that you need to come twice in a single calendar week in order to make any worthwhile money: $20 for the first donation, $50 for the second. You can only donate twice in one 7-day period, so switching from, say, Wednesday and Friday to Tuesday and Thursday means you need to skip a week (or go once in a single week, but again $20 for 90min of your time). The first time you come, you get a modified physical exam and take a lengthy questionnaire. Expect this to take close to two hours. Thereafter, you take a shorter questionnaire before each donation, which generally takes 5 minutes. Then you undergo a mini-physical, which is another 5-10 minutes. Expect to wait if you come during busy times. If all is well, you go to donate, which takes about an hour. I donate the maximum, so mine were always at or about 75 minutes. I live and work nearby, so I've been able to swing by when I get some free time. But I've had too many frustrating issues with this place, which have regularly pushed my donations to 2 hrs end-to-end. They didn't test my blood(???) at the first collection, so they requested I come back to draw and test again. That came back with low protein, so I had to wait 2 weeks to test again and lost out on the bigger payouts at the tail end of the first month. They unlock the door before they open (9am), so one of my first donations I saw people walking in and assumed I could enter. I was several questions into the questionnaire before they told me I couldn't be there, so they logged me off and sat me in the waiting area for 2 minutes until they officially opened. But since they logged me off of the questionnaire, I had to wait for someone to become available in order to physically ask me each question. This took 30 minutes, and by the time I left it was past 11am. The latest saw my heart rate under the 50bpm threshold. My typical resting heart rate is in the low 50s (I'm very active), but I registered at 48bpm. I said I could quickly do a few jumping jacks and check again, but the guy insisted on putting me in the penalty box for "5 minutes" before he could check again. I asked how sitting and doing nothing would help a low heart rate, but nonetheless had to make the walk of shame. That 5 minutes turned into 20 without follow-up from any of the staff before I walked out in frustration, having watched several others come and go. The friend who recommended me had a similar experience, which required him talking to a manager each time he donated to ensure his payments were correct before he finally gave up and stopped donating. I got in when first month potential earnings were $500, but I see they've since lowered it to $350. That's still $25/hr assuming all goes well and you get to the bigger payouts toward the end, which isn't bad all things considered. But the regular rate of $70/week for 3-4 hours of time simply isn't worth the hassle or gamble that some unforeseen issue might come up and keep you there longer than anticipated. And don't even consider it if you can't make it twice a week. read more

BioLife plasma is a scam! Before signing up with them back in 2020 I had donated at almost every plasma center out there all over the country. When I signed up with them on the understanding that I will get $800 in 8 donations I never thought that after just two donations they would pull a trick out of the bag on me and claim my protein was low when I'd just had it checked. I've never been able to receive the remainder of the donation opportunity. These places get 10x more money for our plasma then they compensate us with. They have a system to where if there are too many donors they decrease the number of donors by telling people they have medical conditions, low protein, low iron etc. It's a supply and demand strategy so I suggest do not depend on these donor center promotions. read more

So frustrated with this BioLife. I have driven out there on 2 separate occasions only to be turned away. First time I called ahead to make sure I didn't need a physical and could just come in and donate. Went in and after 30 minutes of paperwork and waiting they told me I had to do a physical, but of course I didn't know so I didn't have the time. This last time after already successfully donating a few times, I made an appointment and went in. I was not able to complete the questionnaire and was told I wouldn't be able to donate as my results were being tested. Both times I was either uniformed and wasted my time and gas driving out, or I was informed wrong. If they want to grow and earn consistent donors, they need to fix this. This place is a joke;, it took three hours just to get to the physical exam portion of the registration only to be told that because of a history of a medical condition, that has nothing to do with my ability to provide blood and plasma, because I'm a regular blood donor at another location & just thought I'd give this a try, so I was not allowed to provide a plasma donation! The nurse was insensitive, rude & a questionable racist based on her behavior; they should do a better job of screening upfront before wasting peoples time. On my first visit today, I was greeted by Brooke with a fun, pleasant personality while she followed strict protocols activated due to the COVID19. I meet Abi and Kent who took me through all of the "first-time" donor steps. Actually, everyone had a smile and was very helpful, patient and tender. I recently went to the Tempe location as a first time donor. Despite having pre-registered and picking an appt time the process was ridiculously long and tedious.I arrived 10min early and wasn't seen by the 1st station for 40min. The receptionist was extremely nice and helpful which made it easier to start the process by jumping through their ID hoops and trying for 15 min to get their little gizmó to record and read my fingerprint. Then it was off to 3 more stations lined up like cattle. Next it was 25minutes of inane questions on a computer before waiting another 30 min to get a physical.In hindsight I would refrain from divulging any hospital stays that had occurred more than 18months ago as each one was the cause of 20 questions, If you have any ink they want to see and document what the tattoo ís even if it's 20 years old. Anyway it was 3 hours before I finally began the actual donation process, 5 hours later I received my $100 card. I'm hoping that my next visit is much quicker since the 1st left a very bad tasté in my mouth. read more
