I'm going to be honest, I stopped by on my way to the fmr mkt to use their facilities-very clean & well maintained, you'd have to be buzzed in to enter. I like that it has paper towels coz I prefer it over the hand driers. It might be better for the environment but not for my health (unless I know that they actually disinfect those regularly, otherwise it harbors bacteria). The lady at the front was nice. The quiet library is open & airy, perfect for studying or simply perusing books. It has a large children's section with newer computers. It's conducive to learning & broadening our minds. I was probably one of the few kids in junior high (did I just age myself?) & high school who regularly visited the library to borrow books. I was a regularly at the Ivar (Hollywood Branch) Public Library & know that when the Mac desk top first came out-Cerritos Library had a roomful of them (Cerritos tax dollars at work, courtesy of the Cerritos Auto Square & the Cerritos mall). In this area (City Hall), there's an Olympic sized pool by the Senior Center (I think there are a total of 3, one of which has water slides ($25 entrance fee, unless it has changed) Dang, I should move to La Mirada! I usually go to the city library but I'm very close to county so occasionally I like to go. I've had a few visits here and staff is not approachable. It seems like they try to avoid you or just me. Lol The librarian is also not helpful. 1 years after my first bad experience with him. I approach his desk and just like the first time. He's in conversation with same lady and I walk up smiling waiting to be acknowledged. I ask my question and his response "it's not that easy" well no sh*t that's why I'm asking.... The books are not organized by A.R points, grade or age. Its sections with categories/subjects... 1st grade books are mixed with 5th grade even 6th. I have a 3rd grader. He's not going to search one by one to find a book. I usually put him in the 3rd/4th grade section and let him browse. I spent 30 minutes going book by book checking grade level The city library has books by grade level. I'm willing to donate some volunteer time to get the county library the same. Yelp 2020 3/100

We were greeted by the giant saltwater aquarium, which my boys went bananas over. Inside of the children's area, there's a plaque that provides the tank information. Also in there are so many fun areas to read. There's a lighthouse, huge tree, dinosaur skeleton, space ship, and much more! There are also plenty of places to sit and read, both quiet and more in the thick of things. Lots of tablets as well. And friendly staff. The library also has a really nice selection of books in certain languages. I wish they had Thai, but it was nice to see representation! I also really appreciate the audio tour. I didn't listen to it this round, but the fact that it's there and that there's so much on display really makes this library special. There's a dedicated YA area that requires a school ID to get into. They also have newspapers and a really snazzy reading room! Next time, I'll use it. While they have swag and books at the book shop, there was no one volunteering there when we went, so we didn't get a chance to go inside. Oh well, that just means we'll have to come back.

The interior is modern, bright, and aesthetically pleasing, making it such a relaxing place to spend time. It's peaceful, well-maintained, and simply a great space to read, learn, and unwind. My favorite part is the children's area. The aquarium is always a hit, and I love the prehistoric theme with the dinosaur fossils and the fun ceiling design. It makes the space feel so imaginative and inviting for kids. The library is also thoughtfully laid out with dedicated areas for children, teens, magazines and publications, plus an extensive collection of books on the second floor. There are even study rooms you can reserve ahead of time, which is a great feature if you need a quiet place to work or study. Parking is convenient since it's next to the sheriff's station and shares a large parking lot, including basement parking.

I started coming here to get books for my son to read daily and there's so many options. We've learned so much about sports, animals, weather, and different cultures. We have also participated in their monthly reading logs and gotten vouchers for free In N Out, Panda Express and Black Bear Diner. There's a play kitchen, toys, blocks, puzzles, and computers. We love staying and playing. It's a free and safe activity to partake in. The staff is wonderful. They offer self check out for the books as well. I highly recommend checking them out.

Alongside borrowing physical books, having a library card here also allows you to download a bunch of ebooks and audiobooks on Libby. During my most recent visit, I came to upgrade my e library card to a physical one. It happened to be the day they had Hello Kitty library cards (which are sooo cute btw) so I ended up getting one of those! The crowds were huge due to the hype around them but I feel like the librarians here managed it very well and were super friendly. Overall, if you enjoy books and libraries, this one is worth checking out!

It took only a couple of minutes to sign up--literally the fastest process ever. The librarians at the front desk were so friendly and welcoming. They let me choose from 2 different designs, but I went with the older one. This is a small building, but it feels cozy inside. The bookstore only takes cash or check since there isn't a way for them to take card payments, and they have so many cute postcards! I like how they have them on a rack because most places I've been to, they're just in a box. Anyway, they have so many resources here, despite the size. I was happy to discover magazines and major newspapers like the LA Times, Orange County Register, NY Times, and even a Korean one. I was also given a paper of all the locations within the county where the card is applicable.
