Great for such a small library. A sign of good management. Helpful staff. Good selection. Seeding renaissance.

The sound of the water and the dolphin family sculpture is so tranquil, and because I really connect with dolphins, it honestly felt like the perfect welcome. Right when you walk inside, the artwork in the glass displays pulls you in. It's creative, organized, and just visually nice to take in. As you wander further in, the large aquarium connected to the children's section is another standout -- it adds this calm, magical feel to the space. I grabbed a magazine and found a quiet window seat, and those 30 minutes of zero calls, zero texts, zero noise? Pure heaven. I didn't realize how much I missed just sitting and reading without a single interruption. Before heading out, I checked out the psychology and cooking sections, and it reminded me how much I've always loved libraries and bookstores. The whole visit made me want to get a library card and come back once a month just to enjoy that peaceful moment. I could've spent hours just checking out each section. If you want a quiet, beautiful place to escape for a bit, this library is it.

The library itself smells a bit moldy and it did trigger my allergies. The WiFi access wasn't available for me to use since I am not a Cerritos resident or a library card holder. What a bummer. I actually am sitting in my car in the parking lot after briefly walking into to help the kids with homework. As soon as I got back to the car, I checked Yelp to see if they enabled no/half star ratings. The library is overflowing with homeless people. They are now all over the Children's areas and the smell and condition of the library is unbearable. It's clear that the city is enjoying their apportionment of homeless funding in exchange for helping them get into public spaces for shelter. As a result of this, the library, which ironically shares a parking lot with the police station and another gov building, is unusable for its intended purpose. Its smell is so putrid and heavy, my kids commented as soon as the door opened to enter. We searched for a place to sit that wasn't so rank or close to the homeless, but there was nowhere to sit. The other students in the building were also commenting, so it's a feeling shared by others -- not just myself. Looks like this library has been ruined.

I'm going to be honest, I stopped by on my way to the fmr mkt to use their facilities-very clean & well maintained, you'd have to be buzzed in to enter. I like that it has paper towels coz I prefer it over the hand driers. It might be better for the environment but not for my health (unless I know that they actually disinfect those regularly, otherwise it harbors bacteria). The lady at the front was nice. The quiet library is open & airy, perfect for studying or simply perusing books. It has a large children's section with newer computers. It's conducive to learning & broadening our minds. I was probably one of the few kids in junior high (did I just age myself?) & high school who regularly visited the library to borrow books. I was a regularly at the Ivar (Hollywood Branch) Public Library & know that when the Mac desk top first came out-Cerritos Library had a roomful of them (Cerritos tax dollars at work, courtesy of the Cerritos Auto Square & the Cerritos mall). In this area (City Hall), there's an Olympic sized pool by the Senior Center (I think there are a total of 3, one of which has water slides ($25 entrance fee, unless it has changed) Dang, I should move to La Mirada! Another place to consider -ing out!!

The remaining areas are pretty quiet to work in but it does get louder than library noise from 3-5pm on weekdays when the students from the nearby school come in. There's outlets everywhere, even next to chairs, which are super handy. Reminds me of my university library with how modern the lighting and furniture is, but way cleaner!! Lots of activities and clubs too over here such as Lego club or Chess club. Just gotta pay attention to the many flyers being displayed around. The hours here are pretty good and the Wifi speed is pretty handy. I don't really pay attention to how loud or quiet it is in here since I usually just keep headphones/earphones on.

This makes a difference. Children's area: The library is small but the kids area is nice and big for how small the library is. There are open ended toys and a little floor area to read. There's a sizable kids Spanish books area, which is what we normally go for. Programs: My daughter is in preschool 3x a week so it's hard to make it to the toddler reading times. However, we participated during the summer and it was great. She also participated in the reading program where she could get prizes and she loved that!
