defiantly your kid would love this! Tho some parents treat it more like a playground than your usual 'quiet library'. the place was clean, spacious and cool! has printers and computers, looks like a great place to read for sure

I had a nice time browsing through the magazines and reading my books here. Parking is free and the grounds a kept clean. The library itself smells a bit moldy and it did trigger my allergies. The WiFi access wasn't available for me to use since I am not a Cerritos resident or a library card holder. What a bummer. The seeds library is nice and the 80s movie theater themed architecture interesting. I wouldn't mind visiting again if I am in the vicinity.

We love this library! My toddler LOVES this library. My toddler visits regularly about every 2 weeks. We've only really spent time in the children's area, which is very big and engaging. My daughter enjoys the educational apps on the iPads, the huge fish tank, the beautiful indoor tree, the rotating art/ themed display by the art room, the indoor lighthouse, and the books of course. I'm not sure if the koi fish pond is part of the library or the civic center but it's all in the same vicinity. There's also a dolphin water fountain my toddler enjoys and a sculpture garden. We always recommend this library to our out of town friends/ guests.

I finally made it out to the Cerritos Library, and wow -- this place was really nice. Even before you walk in, that dolphin fountain out front sets the tone. The sound of the water and the dolphin family sculpture is so tranquil, and because I really connect with dolphins, it honestly felt like the perfect welcome. Right when you walk inside, the artwork in the glass displays pulls you in. It's creative, organized, and just visually nice to take in. As you wander further in, the large aquarium connected to the children's section is another standout -- it adds this calm, magical feel to the space. I grabbed a magazine and found a quiet window seat, and those 30 minutes of zero calls, zero texts, zero noise? Pure heaven. I didn't realize how much I missed just sitting and reading without a single interruption. Before heading out, I checked out the psychology and cooking sections, and it reminded me how much I've always loved libraries and bookstores. The whole visit made me want to get a library card and come back once a month just to enjoy that peaceful moment. I could've spent hours just checking out each section. If you want a quiet, beautiful place to escape for a bit, this library is it.

Great architecture interior design and lighting. Has a parking lot and nice area by street to walk around. Has a lot of outlets. Printing and Internet access kind of gate kept. Has a wide selection of international books (children and adult) in other languages. Cool to walk around and visit or for kids as its nicely decorated. Smaller than I expected for the height but lots of rooms separated like a maze. Nice noise level and ambiance.

    So pretty

I grew up going to this library, but pretty much forgot about this place for a good minute. This library is always kept clean (including their bathrooms) and have fun little perks such as extremely cheap gently used books, dvds and CD's for grabs ($1 Christmas CD's right now!) as well as a little corner for kids to take home seeds to grow. I also appreciate the seasonal decor they have up to make you feel warm and cozy inside. I wasn't feeling the Holiday much this year, until I popped into the library. I need to make an effort to enjoy this wonderful space.

This is truly a beautiful library. Extremely clean! It's very fears to all readers. And i love the seed library! I'm bummed that I had to pay $100 to get a library card. I get it, I'm not a Cerritos resident nor qualify on their terms. But other cities issue a card based on CA residency.

Ask the Community - Cerritos Library

Can I park overnight at the Parking lot by the Cerritos Library? If yes, what is the exact location and when they allow?

I wouldn't recommend it since it's right by the police department there. You can always check with the City.

I am not a resident. Still can I visit and read books inside your childrens library without an annual card?

Yes. If you want to check out books though, then you need to pay for a library card since you're not a Cerritos resident. That's what I know since my last visit.

    Can I bring in coffee?

    Yes

Is it open on Sundays thanks!?

    Open on Sunday's 1pm until 5pm only

Can I just come in to study, even without a library card?

Yes you can but in order to get free WiFi service you will need a library card. The Library card is free if you live in Cerritos, own a business in Cerritos or if you are or were in the U.S military. If not, you will have to pay 100 dollars a month.

Can I go to storytime without registering?

Hi Jennifer! I am an employee at the library. You may go to Storytime only if you register. If you are a non-resident, you can still sign up for free for the Racer program. To sign up, the Facilities desk located at Circulation would just need to…

Do you have to be a resident of Cerritos to obtain a card or can anyone get one?

No you do not. If you don't live in Cerritos, but you work in Cerritos, go to school in Cerritos College or ABC Adult School, own property in Cerritos, currently stay at the Sheraton in Cerritos, or are Active Military, you may obtain a free card.…

Is there a fee for their internet access?

If you dont live in cerritos or if youre not a student in cerritos its 5$ a day. But, there's no point cuz it moves like dial up internet.

I have a somewhat loud toddler (just turned 2) but he loves to read, I'm afraid to take him to the library incase he talks really loud and disturbs the other kids. thoughts on how this library is?

It's fine they have an area for kids so you shouldn't have to worry.

While I may not fully understand what the "public safety center" designation entails, I do have a clear understanding of the level of professionalism, courtesy, and respect the public should reasonably expect when visiting a public facility. Upon arrival, the parking area was decent in size and appeared adequate for what seems to be a medium-volume library. The property is gated, and visitors share the space with government employees. There is also a small outdoor memorial seating area in front of the library. This is a thoughtful feature for visitors who wish to read outdoors, enjoy a snack, or take a break while working remotely. Inside the library, the Young Adult book collection was one of the stronger aspects of the facility and offered several interesting options for checkout. The seating area is relatively small but appropriate for the size of the library. Most seating consists of clustered couch-style chairs, though electrical outlets are limited and provide low wattage. I do not recall whether the facility offers a filtered water refill station. Unfortunately, the positive aspects of the facility were overshadowed by the conduct of the staff. From the beginning of the visit, staff members were not welcoming. Access to the restroom requires staff intervention to unlock the door, and the overall atmosphere conveyed a sense that patrons were being excessively monitored. The most concerning aspect of the visit involved staff behavior toward me personally. I experienced harassment and inappropriate conduct by an employee. While apparently believing I was not paying attention, an employee approached and sprayed chemicals directly at me. This conduct was inappropriate, unprofessional, and inconsistent with the standards expected in a public-facing institution. The current staff should be evaluated regarding their ability to interact with members of the public professionally, respectfully, and appropriately. The conduct described above warrants review and investigation by management. A public library and public safety center should foster an environment of accessibility, professionalism, and public trust. Based on my experience, that standard was not met.
