Because we plan to live in this house for as long as possible, we decided to go through a full kitchen renovation. We had a prior experience with another general contractor who was impossible to get a hold of and who could not ensure the quality of the subcontractors he hired, and interviewed another general contractor who gave us the impression that we would have to engage with suppliers and subcontractors more than seemed feasible. He suspected that the water damage might extend to the other side of the wall, where we had previously experienced a roof leak.
