This is my go to place when i'm craving viet food. For a long time it was only take out because they had to close indoor dining due to COVID, but they have recently reopened to the public! I came here for dinner with an old friend recently. Their whole menu prices went up about 2-3 dollars. Which isn't too terrible, but what i liked about this place was that it was a decent price for a lot of food. Sigh. BUT! We have to support this small business because it's the only good Vietnamese restaurant in town! So I have no problem paying extra to keep this place around. SUMMER ROLLS - so light and tasty. It's a rice wrap filled with shrimp, lettuce, and aromatics. The classic way to go for appetizers. The peanut sauce on the side is addicting! GRILLED PORK BUN BOWL - i'm so mad at myself because I forgot to take a picture before digging into it. Grilled pork at any Vietnamese restaurant is a must for me. The pork was charred in all the right places. The fish sauce was a bit watery that day so it didn't give much taste. Next time i'll have to ask for extra. In conclusion, please support my favorite spot in bloomfield! The menu is huge there's always gonna be something for everybody. This is located in a small plaza with other stores that share the parking lot, so finding parking is usually a pain. There is one gender-neutral bathroom hidden behind some curtains. There are a lot of options and I definitely want to try other things on their menu! ****CLEANLINESS**** - The table, food, utensils look/feel pretty clean - Sauce bottles aren't sticky like at other restaurants I've been to - However!! Went with my roommate for takeout. The dining room quite crowded, but the atmosphere was relaxed and fairly quite for the number of people in the restaurant. If you can I recommend bringing cash because you will get a 5% discount. We both got the Grilled Lemongrass Pork Patty Bánh Mì and it was delicious!!! The vegetables were fresh and crisp and the pork was flavorful. Each bite had the perfect ratio of bread to pork to crunch. I appreciated that the sandwich was DIY where the vegetables and meat were packaged separately because it prevented the bread from getting soggy and the vegetables from weeping. I love pho and always on the lookout for local places to try. We came in for a late lunch on a Saturday around 2:30pm, and there were a good number of tables filled. Of course we started with spring rolls, which were on point. Moving on to the noodles, I had pho with grilled pork, and my hubby had the rare beef pho. We also ordered extra noodles which conveniently come on the side, so we were able to share as well as pack up leftovers. The portion size was generous to begin with. The most important part of pho is the broth, and unfortunately, their's is very bland. Even though the noodles and protein were good, it's just not as enjoyable without a solid broth. It's been about 4 years since I reviewed Banh Duong and they just reopened for indoor dinging recently so I will give an update. The menu has changed a little. I didn't see size options for the pho like they used to have. However the food here is still great. I got a spicy chicken dish with peppers and onion that was delicious. The pho is great as usual. Spring rolls, summer rolls. Everything here is still on point. They haven't missed a step. I am not Vietnamese, but can imagine some of these dishes being served to me in someones home. It is always a surefire good sign when you can taste the love and soul coming from the kitchen. Food that (in most cases) be prepared quickly but packs true flavor is always a winner. Another plus is their chili oil. Most places don't pack heat like theirs. I am glad I can have some chili oil that actually packs a nice little punch. You don't have to travel outside of this area to get great Vietnamese food. Just go! You won't be disappointed. ENJOY!!! read more

My family and I were in the area on a Monday afternoon and was looking for a place to eat. We found this Vietnamese restaurant nearby in a small suburban strip mall with very limited parking. We had to wait about 10 minutes for us to park 3 cars. To no surprise, the restaurant was packed and we had to wait 20 minutes for a table for 7 people. The tables and chairs were so cramped on top of each other. The menu was super hard to read for someone who is not Vietnamese. The English is in such a tiny font and we had trouble finding our usual Vietnamese favorite staple dishes. Good thing the waiter understood a little bit of Cantonese. The menu prices are pretty cheap compared to other New Jersey Vietnamese restaurants. The thai iced tea was really sweet. The three colors dessert was also not good, much like a carnival ice with syrup. The summer rolls appetizer did not taste so good. The filling was very dry and stale. I ordered a large house combination pho and the noodles and soup were not the best either. The soup was watery and not flavorful enough. There was a lot of beef, but also very dry and tasteless. The rice dishes have two types: rice platters and entrees. Be careful, because we ordered the entree version and the portions were huge. If I say that you must eat in this town, eat here because there are not many strip malls and not too many Vietnamese food options. This is our go to Vietnamese restaurant. The pho is amazing, as are all the dishes we've tried. On this visit my wife had the #22 Pho Tai Nam with rare eye of round and brisket and I had the #26 Pho Thit Heo Nuong with grilled boneless lean pork. Both are always amazing. As an app, we had the #10 Tom Chien Khoai, crispy batter fried sweet potato nestled with shrimp and served with lettuce, mint and fish sauce, also delicious. For dessert, the #136 Che Mon, sweet rice pudding with taro and coconut milk is our favorite. The atmosphere here is not fancy but the food is always great. This is a BYOB. read more

By far the best Vietnamese food I've found between northern New Jersey and Manhattan so far. I can actually eat a whole bowl of pho here (which they give you a big portion of meat with) AND want to drink up all the soup, because the broth is actually really good. The bun bo hue is also good and authentic (even if it ain't like my momma's). I'm a fan of the egg rolls and grilled pork chops also, if I'm not in the mood for all things soupy. Love the avocado and jackfruit shakes. Everything tastes like it should. It's great. Makes me happy when I'm homesick. Oh, except for the canh chua ca. It's too sweet sometimes and they don't even use the right type of fish. (Hint: it's not supposed to be salmon fillets). I came here after a night of drinking. Pho is the best hangover cure, but only if it's legit. This place was solid. I enjoyed the Pho Dac Biet and felt immensely better when I finished the bowl. The pho noodles were cooked to the right texture and their were a good amount and variety of meat in the bowl. I appreciated that they didn't shy away from some of the cartilage and make the dish more Americanized. Two other people in my party ordered the same thing, and one got the Bun Bo Hue. Stumbled upon this place which can be easily missed. It's your typical, no frills, just plain good ol' fashion viet. Coming from NY, there are surprisingly no good viet restaurants, but I do have some good pho comparisons in colorado, cali, texas, washington and canada. These other cities have heavily populated vietnamese communities so you'd expect some pho'nominal viet food so my palate for vietnamese food is pho'king on point. So how did this place compare to these other known cities for excellent vietnamese food you ask, it was legit. I could easily say it's authentic and as traditional as it gets. Nothing beats steamy hot pho on a nice cold night. I heard about this place thanks to a friend's recommendation was happy that we came! We went on a Friday night and it was pretty poppin. It took about 20-30 minutes for us to be seated for a party of 5 and we came in at around 7:30. Even after we left there were piles of people coming in. The menu was pretty vast with lots of options for everyone! They have rice dishes, crispy noodles, spring rolls, and more importantly pho. The pho comes in 3 different sizes and you can pick from a few different types of meat that they had. I ended up getting a combination because I wanted a mix of everything and was happy with my choice! I also got a large size which was perfect because I was very hungry that day. The pho was delicious and really hit the spot! It's not the best pho I've ever had but it is very solid and for sure gets the job done. The service was pretty decent. I was worried that it would be bad after seeing the reviews but we were attended to well. It might just vary on who is working. Parking was terrible. I highly recommend the dishes below. *PHO- The Pho here is amazing! The broth is well seasoned and clean. The thinly sliced meat is always fresh and their noodles are perfectly cooked. *FRIED SPRING ROLLS- Super crispy served with fish sauce and a side of lettuce. *PORK CHOP OVER RICE- The pork chops here are very tender and marinated in a slightly sweet fish sauce. Great viet food in the area, however not a fan of the location/waiting area. Unfortunately located in a small plaza with very limited parking. When we arrived, the place was packed and there was pretty much no where to wait inside the restaurant. Luckily, a couple gave us their number so we were seated in a reasonable time. In terms of food quality/price/value, this is definitely 5 stars. It was refreshing to see prices this low. The rice vermicelli was surprisingly cold, but paired well with the warm pork and hot spring rolls. Strong and bold flavors with the pork and rolls, and I would put this above other viet places I've had that cost more. The only real turn-off is the location/parking situation. Love the variety here and they do everything so well. The broths here are clean and the meat is cooked just right. Tried both the combo pho and Bun Bo Hue, both were tasty and filling. My preference would be the Bun Bo Hue because the broth had a much deeper flavor. My favorite item here would be the Banh Xeo, which is a fantastically crunchy Vietnamese crepe/omelette hybrid. The outside is super crunchy and inside is filled with pork, shrimp, and beansprouts. Put a little mint and fish sauce and you have a bite with perfect taste and texture. It's listed under appetizers but portion is almost good enough as an entree. Shoutout to Kevin W. for recommending the spring rolls. Much better than the other stuff I haver around where I live and I would easily drive the 30 minutes to get these done right. Order comes with 5 piece, which is a bit odd since most tables are either 2 or 4 people. Better bring your fighting gear to get that last piece. After a day at the mall and having not eaten all day, my sister and I were STARVING around 3 PM. We were visiting a bakery in search of the right cake for our mother's birthday and conveniently Binh Duong was near the bakery we were visiting so we stopped in for lunch before checking out cakes. We started with the crepe appetizer (Banh Cuon Cha Lua) which is filled with shrimp and pork. I like the crispy texture of this crepe and it was a great starter to the meal, but I felt it lacked in flavor - salt or somewhat other that I've come to expect from Vietnamese food. i can't recall if there's a sauce which if there was it helped but still doesn't innately help with the flavor of the crepe itself. We split a bowl of House Combo Pho (Pho Xe Lua) and the chicken with onion & curry sauce (Ga Xao Ca-ry). As is with good pho, the broth of this bowl really shined. My sister and I were very content with the size of the bowl and the cuts of meat in in. The warm broth definitely helped me as well as I was just getting over a cold. The curry was delicious and I could've eaten endless amounts of that sauce; however, I was a upset that it was largely onion and would've appreciated more chicken to eat with my rice. read more

Did you live the carrot/daikon pickle that came with many dishes? Gone. The fine noodles in the Bún? Gone - they are now too thick noodles, and the balance of salad to noodle disappeared too. Mostly chunky noodles and almost no salad. Herbs that come with the spring rolls? We got two leaves of mint. Even the orange my-clear sauce used in everything tastes watered down. But don't worry - the prices have gone up up up across the board. And with the new owners came all new staff. In a visit of over an hour, during a time that we were one of only a few tables, once the food was delivered no one came back to see how things were. We had to chase someone down for a bill even. Sadly, gone are the days of Bình Duong being a well oiled machine. We've tried it a few times since the new owners took over. Disappointing. read more

Been coming here since 2019 and to see the continuous growth of this establishment is wonderful. Two things that have always stayed consistent are the Food quality/quantity and the service. The food that they put out is very, very, good. Great actually. Viet cuisine is one of my favorites and Binh Duong gives me that ability to dive deeper into that with the loaded menu they have. Every single item I posted was fantastic and I have no complaints. Everything from the sauces on the table to the ingredients in our meals was fresh. Our waiters were very polite, the chefs in the back got the orders out efficiently and very quickly. The brisket in the pho was outstanding. Melted like butter and was very satisfying. The char on the pork chop was so good it would make you shake your head in disbelief. The shaken beef had a new flavor (for Me) but I enjoyed it. My all time favorite place to get pho -- eat in and take out. The plain pho is my favorite option because it's very filling and only $10.

This is the best Vietnamese food I've had in the States. Granted I haven't expanded my search for Vietnamese but this place is really close to us and it does very well in terms of its portions, ingredients, and taste. They recently updated their menu so be sure to mention that when you order. Their menu is enormous so we order by number which is different since their old menu. Hence the importance of mentioning new versus old. We haven't been disappointed by anything on the menu yet. The pho of course is very flavorful. Because they only do pick up during Covid, you run a risk of losing heat on your food especially when you combine the broth, noodles, and topping at home. I often reheat the broth before adding to the rest of the meal because I want the broth to cook the meat (I always get the rare eye of round with brisket). If you're in the mood for Vietnamese, this place does it quite well and is very consistent. If you're looking for premier service/hospitality, you might not find it here but honestly their goal is to make and serve their food and my goal is to eat it. The end. read more
