Uniquely comfortable, low-key place to hang out for way too long to waste time or get work done. The food and the ambience is made right for business or relaxing. Drinks are way, way overpriced btw. A finger of a shot of Fernet is $12, two to three times the standard price. No beer on draught. Only recommendable if corporate was paying your bill without question. read more

Al-right. Can't complain about the location nor the atmosphere of the bar. But their HH that everyone is raving about is really just alright. 2 cocktail specials and 4 bites, 2 of which are pizza and 1 is fries. So not really fun things to snack on, cause eating both pizza AND fries is a little too much of the good. Fries are tasty, but you can't really go wrong with fries. Their "aioli" tastes like straight-up butter. Probably won't be back unless, for sure odd reason, I have friends/family staying at Marriott (which is very unlikely, as I'm not a big fan of Marriott to say the least). read more

Weird, it was one of the few places still open in the area. It was a Monday, so maybe thats why, but I would think that more bars would be open. I actually dig this place. Its a super chill bar, its not loud, you can hold a conversation without screaming. The seating is pretty plush. We had a circular booth with tall white vinyl seating. Prices are a little higher, but you're in a hotel, so if you take that into consideration, its about right. You will see lots of out of towners and lots of people on business, so the people watching will be hit/miss. Had the cheesecake as well. And it was decent enough for a hotel. read more

I just had the best Manhattan I have ever have from Julia in Bin 480 in the Marriott Union Square bar. She set the bar very high when she told me how good it was but she exceeded my expectations. Now I just have to get her secret recipe !! read more

I'm truly a bourbon drinker and I've had many cocktails that were bourbon base. Today, I experienced the best I've every had. Julia's " The Gold Rush" is fantastic and opens the palate to an unbelievable experience. Get one or two like I had . It'll change your life!! read more

Nice bar at the Marriot. Decent food and lots of lounge space.

Vert tasty food at a reasonable price - not typical for a restaurant in a hotel in my opinion. They had specials for October which was presented as a separate menu (a nod to octobetfest). The only downside was the lack of lighting for me. Our seats were in between the bar and the TV, but you can see from my pics that it was a low light level. It's mood lighting which is fine for the vibe they are going for I just wanted more light for my pictures. Service was great and fast - both drinks from the bar and the food from the kitchen. They have a good variety of appetizers and main dishes. We had the hummus with pita chips (so good) along with the shrimp and pork fried rice to start. The fried rice was so yummy with lots of shrimp and big pork pieces. We had the pork sliders for my main course (3 sliders) and the corned beef from the October menu. The only kicker is that it was a corned beef sandwich - not clear on the menu. Definitely would eat there again - good value and tasty food. read more

This review is less for the Bin480 itself and more for Julia. Julia the bartender who delivers the. Greatest. Manhattans. In. The. World. Smokey. Decadent. Alluring. Pick your adjective that implies a hypnotic experience for your taste buds and she's done it. Don't believe me? Go try it. Go try it, find yourself reborn and screaming as you swing from vine to vine, striking your chest in exclamation as you re-discover what it means to love again. Julia, my hat is off to you. You truly do make the greatest Manhattan. read more

Julia, the bar tender is amazing!! She offered to make my husband her signature bourbon cocktail and it was incredible!!!

What a great place for HH! Came here to meet up with a small group of friends for our monthly happy hour get together. Bin 480 is located inside the Marriott hotel on Sutter so the ambiance is definitely quieter, with that relaxed and low-key feeling to it. There are a lot of TVs playing whatever hot sports game that's on and spacious seating arrangements. The couches in particular are extremely comfortable. We ordered practically everything on the HH menu. Sadly, the HH menu only offers two wines - a red and white (malbec and chardonnay). The only thing we didn't order on the HH menu was the pork sliders, but after ordering everything that we did, there was definitely no need. The portion sizes here are rather large and the service is great. Definitely come here if you don't want to go to super crowded/packed HH spot and if you want to be able to hear each other talk, not yell. read more

Consistently great lunch spot. I work right next door and do a lot of working lunch meetings here. Favorites: fig ham and cheese is amazing Reuben is very good. Ahi tuna salad has a little nicoise feel. Yum. Service is great. The people who work here care about the cleanliness and attentiveness of the place. Highly recommended. read more

OK I went here on a well lets see how good this place is and being inside the Marriott Union Square who knows. And great news for me I walked in during happy hour from 5pm - 7pm : Food $6, wine $6 a glass and beer $5 ( a reminder they only highlight a selection of the full menu for the happy hour). I had the Wild mushroom pizza (mozzarella and truffled arugula) and the Fritto misto - calamari, green beans, fennel, red onions, spicy tomato sauce. The pizza was light and full of flavor and the misto was crispy and done well, not greasy. Good beer selection, but they need a wheat beer ( Blue Moon people!!!!!!!!!) The server so so so so nice (thanks Casey) and new everything I needed about the menu and more (explained the inspiration of the chef). Well I had a great time at Bin 480 and would say come for happy hour, the 8 flats screens and the seating. read more

I needed a quick healthy lunch and decided to eat here since I was staying in the hotel. Ambiance - Nothing special. It is located inside the Marriott Union Square Hotel. Food - I ordered the seared tuna salad which contained five average sized pieces of fairly fresh seared tuna served on top of a generous serving of fresh arugula, several halves of small hardboiled eggs (almost the size of quail eggs), sliced greek olives, fresh green beans topped with a light vinaigrette. It was their take of a Nicoise salad. A good take I thought. All of the ingredients made it an interesting salad that satisfied my palate and hunger cravings. And, I was not weighed down by a heavy lunch. A good meal and salad. The service here was excellent as well. read more

Nice atmosphere for quick dinner. Good menu choices. Had the risotto and salmon salad.

Bartender Jay was rude to my friends visiting town who wanted to watch the Dodger game. Yes, we are San Francisco of the World Series Giants, but that doesn't give you license to be rude to visitors who would like to watch the game of their own hometown. It takes a lot for my friends to pick up and go somewhere else based on bad customer service, so please know, I will not be back here nor will I refer anyone else here. The Golden Gate Tap Room diagonally across the street was recommended so we went there and were treated courteously, plus they have plenty of TV screens, a wide variety of beers and tasty apps. I will recommend Golden Gate Tap Room anyday over Bin 480. I see other low reviews of your place recently because of bad customer service, namely from your bartender -- it looks like action needs to be taken pronto before all of your reviews are soon 1 stars like mine. read more

This review is only for the HH menu. This place is super nice! It's in the Marriott on Sutter. When you walk in the hotel, just ask the staff where it is (and it's pretty easy to find); they'll direct you to it. Since it's smack in the middle of Union Square - I suggest BART/Muni. Also, since it's in the middle of Union Square, there's actually not a lot of traffic in the bar/lounge. The atmosphere is really relaxed, music playing in the background, a tv where they're playing the game (whatever seems to be pertinent) and very spacious seating arrangements. The girls and I took a large couch section in the back, ordered a glass of wine each and basically everything off the HH menu to eat. BIG portions! Wine was great! Atmosphere was good. Definitely a great place for HH with friends. read more

My faves are the garlic prawn pizza, the BBQ pork fried rice and the crab cakes yummy! the crab cakes come with some thinly sliced bell peppers and citrus slices (I think they're skinned tangerines) perfect combo; the pizza is soo fresh, the fried rice is a bit too oily but they got the BBQ pork taste down perfect, sometimes it's way too loaded with prawns which isn't a bad thing. I knocked off a star because I found a hair in my fried rice once eww. Oh also the truffled fries are full sized thick fries and they're not crunchy. I always stop here to eat when I'm in SF. read more

Went here with a small group (four) for dinner and it was great! The staff was very friendly. The decor was extremely trendy. It was rather empty because we went late, but it was nice and quiet. There was plenty to choose from and the prices were very reasonable. I got a salad which tasted great and fresh. Good portions as well. A criticism/suggestion is they could have a better house cocktail menu. There wasn't that many to choose from of their own house specialties. The location was also convenient. Even if you don't stay at the hotel, it is worth checking out. read more

I stopped here with some guests from out of town. It was quiet, and open later than some of the nearby spots. Strong hotel lobby vibe (unsurprisingly). read more

A bit expensive for what you get. The atmosphere, being in a hotel, isn't the best. you can probably find a better place to drink wine.

This place is usually very empty at lunch. I don't think many people know they have food here. In fact they have great food. I've yet to have something here I didn't like. I recommend the ham and fig jelly sandwich or the beat salad or the fried rice. I have not been here for drinks. That's probably what they are known for but I can't be of help there. Just try the lunch, it's really good. read more

Was looking for a place to get some work done and enjoy a drink - ended up 2/2 at Bin 480. Bartender Julia's manhattan (the "Gold Rush") was a pleasant surprise and highly recommended. Great, comfortable bar near Union Square! read more

A pretty standard hotel bar/lounge, not the swankiest in the city or a destination spot, but it's spacious with plenty of seating in the back if you're trying to get some work done. Conveniently located near Union Square and away from the hustle and bustle of crowds. Staff here are the highlight to this lounge as they're very friendly and accommodating especially the manager that's been running the show for a while. Happy hour is till 7pm, although the selection is pretty limited. Cocktail menu has recently been updated with a refreshing sangria and some good whiskey based cocktails. Beer selection is bottle only so stick to cocktails. Haven't tried the food besides the few offerings on HH, can't recall much in particular. Lobby WiFi is only good for a hour now since Marriott got a bit more stringent. Still, a solid place to hide away to get some work done & lounge, read more

I stayed in the Marriott hotel that contains this wine bar. It was a pleasant surprise to find such a well laid out lobby bar. This place is very pleasing to the eye and draws a good but not crazy crowd. In addition, they have a couple of TVs by the bar and across the bar showing sports. Luckily they don't broadcast the sound, so it doesn't seem like a sports bar. Good wine list by the glass and a good happy hour that runs 7 days a week. The calamari app was a nice snack, especially during happy hour when it's on sale. The chocolate dessert with a Pinot Noir was a great way to end a Sunday night. Tom and Joyce are very friendly bartenders and made my stay much more enjoyable. read more

Sweet potato fries- Yum Sliders- Yum Malbec- Yum The happy hour here is awesome, I join in at least once a month. I work just across the street so my co-workers and I often come here to unwind after a hard day. We always order the sweet potato fries, they are just so delicious! read more

This is a restaurant and bar inside the Marriot at union square. The hotel is very nice. Seating and decor is really nice. The setting is intimate. The service is really great. Needed to grab a quick, good, and healthy bite and this was perfect for all of that! I ordered a tomato/cheese salad with a bowl of chowder and it was very good. My friend ordered a burger with a salad. His burger was surprisingly awesome! The service was very very good and knew we were in a hurry so they helped us get out as soon as possible. They definitely knew their food that was being served so that was very helpful! If you're in the area and need some good quick food with a good vibe this is your place. read more

Came for: vino and nibbles and catch-up convo Will come back for: spacious, modern venue when we want to hear ourselves talk A friend and I were looking for some girlfriend catch-up time over wine and nibbles. I was drawn to this b/c 1) it's new to me 2) HH runs until 7PM. We went off the HH menu -- the chardonnay and malbec, accompanied by the trio of fries (traditional, sweet potato, and garlic!!!) and the prosciutto & arugula pizza. Overall, the quantity/value won over quality. The trio basket of fries seemed never-ending! It's a no nonsense scene here at the bar in Marriott Union Square. Just some tourists and business travelers. Take-Away: a good option for HH when you want a relaxed and quieter setting and don't want to practice reading-lips skills. read more

After a week-long technical conference and the daunting prospect of a 4am Uber pickup to the airport, trust me when I say that expectations were low, and nearly any cheap swill would do. I've had the pleasure of consuming Manhattans in likely every state in our fine Union, but this was a qualitatively different experience. Exquisitely balanced. Superbly crafted. Expertely presented. I would fly through a New York blizzard to San Fransisco with severe turbulence in a middle coach seat just to indulge my palate in the encapsulating luxury of Julia's magical Manhattan. read more
