Last day of work in Iron Mountain and wanted to try something new and not a chain restaurant . I Walked in to the restaurant/bar people looked at me, staff and guests. I sat at a table for ten minutes. Looked at the menu in the table. No one approached me to ask if I wanted anything to drink or if I was ready to order. So, I just walked out. Obviously, I wasn't a local, but I still had money to spend on lunch before a driving back to Green Bay to catch my flight back home. read more

Food is excellent, service and ordering on doordash isn't. Every order placed on doordash.com has been wrong. From missing sauce with my Bobbi Jo tothenext order gav3 me the wrong sandwich that comes with onions that I would never order and just throw in the garbage. ​ read more

Upon entering the bar, you feel as if you're entering an entirely different era.... The vibe and decor is reminiscent of the good ole days in Brooklyn NY, replete with funky vintage lighting and a popcorn machine. So for ambiance and a drink I'd give the place a 5. I may have a biased review in the pizza. Coming from an Italian family from NYC and NJ (kind of the two US pizza meccas) it is hard for me to enjoy most pizzas. Crust was like a cracker (some people like it like that I like a hand tossed crust.) and the gravy (sauce) was very very sparse. No garlic. I'd give the sausage on the pie a 5 though. If I were to base my review on the pizza only I'd give it a 3. In addition to the pie I ordered the hot beef sandwich. In my anticipation of have a hot beef sandwich I was envisioning the tasty version with a nice au jus on it ..which is what the typical hot beef is by us.... Instead I got a dried up beef sandwich with zero flavor. It was like eating shoe leather. Maybe it was an off night... things happen. But we were there at 6:45pm so we weren't near the last meal ordered.... I'd go back for a drink and some popcorn but I don't think I'd try the pizza and definitely not the hot beef again. read more

Super friendly Mary Jo served me lunch. There are 6 equally appetizers lunch choices (plus the pizza) which are home made. I settled on the "mary jo sandwich (half beef, half porketta, on a bun with cheese and side of tomato sauce. It was very good, very fresh! Oh and bathrooms were super clean and pleasant to use. read more

Spartan inspired tavern complete with a mini statue of Tom Izzo. Being an MSU alum, I can appreciate a good Sparty pub. My husband ordered the Bobby Joe and got the Porketta instead. It was a little dry and needed the sauce. The cab wine was good but not produced there. Ok food, nice atmosphere. read more

Whenever we road trip without the kids we look for out-of-the-way places that sound interesting...and this place ticked that box. It was somewhat concerning that there were no recent reviews--so we didn't know if it would even be open! But it was, and we are glad we stopped!! It's definitely a hometown place--locals crowded at the long, dark bar, a small group of ladies at a table near the back, and a bunch of Michigan State University Tom Izzo memorabilia (he's a local boy). The service was quick and friendly and a local older gentleman chatted us up while we waited for our to-go order. We got a sausage pizza and the Bobby Jo sandwich--and both were DELICIOUS. We shared both dishes but the small pizza was definitely enough for one person (almost too much if I'm being honest). I will say the sandwich was a bit messy to put together and eat on the road but we managed. (It would have been nice if they'd actually made the sandwich for us, but all the ingredients came in separate deli containers. But no biggie.) We would definitely come back if we pass this way again. read more

I love Bimbo's. Just the name makes it feel like a place you want to go to. It is definitely a dive bar, a local's joint. Every year we visit the relatives we stop in for a double boat of their home made sausage and a Peroni. It is THE BEST. They also have pizza, porketta, and super friendly service. A must do! read more

Bimbos is great and has good food. Prices are good and the atmosphere is what you should expect from the UP. It is not a wine bar! Haha.

Just wanted to make it clear. This is NOT a wine bar. My husband and I stopped in this place because it's advertised as a wine bar. This is a little UP bar, that looked completely confused when we asked them about it being a wine bar. They replied they make wine at home, but it's just for their family. We still laugh about the experience. This was just a few weeks ago.. I'm giving it 1 star only because it is not as advertised . Did not try the food. Sounds like we should have ! :) read more

I have been going to this place for 50 years-every time we go up north to visit family or vacation. In those 50 years I don't think anything has changed but the prices. The place has fallen off a bit since Bimbo passed away and his daughter from Chicago came back home to take over. This isn't a bar in the LOOP in Chicago, it is a neighborhood tavern in the U. P.. Open the door and you be hit in face by the smell of garlic, oregano and fennel that has been baked in the Porketta,, pizzas and boats for decades. The smell has permeated the place. The main draw for us in the Porketta, baked pig in herbs on a hard roll. Don't forget to ask for peppers and skin with your sandwich. Peppers cooked in the pig drippings add a little bit of heat to your sandwich, and the worlds best dessert-crunch, crackly heaven on earth pig skin. There isn't a better item in the world to eat that Bimbos skins. If a Porketta isn't your thing order a boat. Two small Italian sausages in sauce/gravy served with a hard roll. If you are there in the evening you can also order a pizza. Cracker thin and crisp crust. This is going to sound confusing but what makes the pizza so great is the lack of toppings on the pizza. The pizza in cut into small one inch or so pieces. There isn't a lot of cheese, sausage or whatever you order for a topping. The pizza pieces are tossed in your mother and savored. As my brother has always told people if he is down to his last meal on earth. It will be a couple Porkettas with peppers and skins and a couple of beers. read more
