Locals sitting at the bar, plenty of taxedermy, Random electronic gambling machines in the corner(for entertainment purposes only, I'm sure). The place is North woods Wisconsin clean, which is pretty good considering other places I've bee to in the area, and the staff is friendly. A lot of fried food, but that's not a bad thing. All of the fried apps are good, and if you go there on a Friday, you can enjoy a great fish fry. If you go there during the week, I would skip the burgers, which are OK, and grab yourself a bowl of their chilli which is really good. Have it with a fried side. Great place in the north woods. Check it out next time you're in the area.

I don't want to drop names but... Jimmy Randville is my brother…read more I finally made it up here, 9 years (or so) after the last time I was in the UP. Since I'd never been here, and Jimmy Randville is my brother, we had to stop here. I drank Jim Beam, the pours were generous. I also had a rocks of a Michigan whiskey, ... uh... black swamp... maybe? Then went back to Beam. I ordered the sliced prime rib sandwich, which was delicious. Served with a generous portion of au jus, and lots of melted cheese, on texas toast, it was great. Also got the side salad, which was a side salad. I've been to "nicer"/"fancy" restaurants that didn't have lettuce as fresh as here. Crisp cherry tomatoes and onion finished out this simple yet perfect salad. Jimmy Randville, my brother, ate the fried chicken salad, which was a similar salad, albeit MUCH larger than my side salad, and had huge chunks of fried chicken on it. Kridz had the grilled ham and cheese, also served on texas toast. Lots of cheese, lots of ham, lots of grilled. When you show up to a place like this, and your brother is Jimmy Randville, you get treated well. Probably not so differently than anyone else, because they seemed to treat every customer very well, but... Jimmy Randville! One guy walked in and was like "hey, are you Jimmy Randville's brother?" and I'm like "how the hell did you know that?" and he's like "I came to see him", and i'm like... oh.

I get here rarely because I don't live here, but have a summer cottage in the area. Let me break down my dinner tonight for you below, and you can decide if you want to try it for yourself. Service - Spot on. Attentive, but not too attentive and very friendly. Appetizer - Truffle fries. Some people like truffle, some people hate truffle. Regardless of that, the fries were cooked to perfection! I cannot think of another french fry I've had that was better than these. Salad - Rarely do I eat all of my house salad, because honestly, they usually suck. This salad was fresh with a light lemon vinaigrette. I cleaned the plate. Bread - Great bread. I don't know if they make it in house, but the garlic butter that came with it was fantastic as well. Mains: Mine - Veal Schnitzel. The dish came with two large veal cutlets, broccolini, and a mountain of garlic mashed potatoes. I could only finish one of the cutlets. There was a dijonnaise drizzled across the plate which was a welcome acid to balance out the richness of the veal. broccolini is always good, and the potatoes were really good. My daughter(an adult) - Boneless braised short ribs in a red wine gravy. I have had this previously and it was great. I sampled some of her dinner and confirmed that it is still very tasty. It taste like someone had cooked the ribs with good seasoning for a long time. The sides were the same as mine, but when you have a couple solid sides, why bother with other randoms. Dessert - We shared a Strawberry creme brulee. I have no words to describe how good this is. Get it.
