The owner and one older lady who bartends are nice, otherwise the bartenders are always rude. I've eaten here several times and it prompted me to look to see if they have health code violations, which they do for the last 2 months (Oct/ Nov 2025) yikes read more

There's no place like home, and this place sure felt like we were with family! Great burgers cooked before our eyes, great beers and the most awesome, friendly bartender and cook, ever! Total dive bar feel and decor with some of the friendliest locals we've ever met! read more

Thirsty Whale - Coastie and his seagull buddy. - Bars Near Me - Norway, Michigan

I can only grade based on the carry out fish and not on a visit into the bar. We ordered fish dinners for about 8 people and everyone was very happy with their meals. I will definitely order the fish from Thirsty Whale again and I hope to stop in next time to try a burger as well. read more

This small bar and grill is a hidden little gem. The place was packed when we got there, which is always a good sign. The first thing I noticed were the prices on their menu. I had to do a double take as everything was so cheap. During our visit we ordered a Rachel, pizza burger and seasoned fries. The food was delicious. The only downside was the server was super busy and so we could see our food sat for a while before she had time to bring it to us. Overall, I highly recommend checking this place out for tasty eats at a great price. read more

Awesome burgers! No really, awesome burgers. All of the standard burgers are 2/3 lbs and they've got a decent variety (I like the Jalapeno Burger). I do believe that if you want lettuce, tomato, onion, etc. you have to ask for it, just an FYI. The owner (Paula) and staff are always super friendly and attentive. If you're looking for a good casual lunch or dinner spot in the area, you just found it. read more

Best burgers in Norway and Iron Mountain. Juicy, flavorful, half pound burgers. Personally I like their jalapeño burger.

We found this place using the yelp app. The exterior is nothing fancy AT ALL. However, it just goes to show that the outside curb appeal does not have to match the quality of food inside. They have the best burgers! Everything is basically fried, and that's ok! We got burgers, cheese curds (which were DELICIOUS), mini tacos, fries and jalapeño ravioli (which we honestly didn't care for, despite how delicious it sounded). Overall we were very pleased. The staff was friendly and even gave my daughter a candy bar (all kids get a free candy bar). If I'm in the area again, I will be back! read more

Always timely and the food is always exceptional classic American bar food. Great burgers, great appetizers. Can't go wrong.

We stopped in for a cold one after touring the Iron Mountain Iron Mines. It was a great spot to jump in and fix the thirst. We enjoyed the barkeeper's company and hoped to visit again to try the burgers. read more

Stopped in here today for a bowl of their chicken noodle soup - all homemade and one of my favorites. Instead I got the 15 bean soup and I now have a new favorite! Wow, that was good! My friend got the most amazing Ruben I have ever seen, all homemade. Do yourself a favor and stop for lunch, one of the best! read more

Visiting the U.P. and looking for a good Friday Fish Fry, I went to this cozy place right along the highway (you can feel the large trucks going by!). They had perch, walleye and cod. I ordered the dinner which came with fries (of course) and baked beans. This was a really good meal in a friendly, local spot. I'll be back next time I'm in the area. read more

Fantastic food with cheerful staff. One of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time.

A worthy effort! A bar with the usual: domestic drafts, billiard table, etc., but also some special touches: appetizers include deep fried blue cheese, sandwiches include prime rib, every-day-is-friday fish fry. I will definitely go back! read more

The food here was Awesome last year. This year I'm Very Dissapointed. The cheese curds used to be so tasty, like meted butter in your mouth. Don't know why they changed them, but they are just standard run of the mill ones now. I had a cod sandwich that tasted super salty, and I couldn't even eat the pickle that came on the side. It tasted horrible. Even the Mushroom Burger my husband usually ordered was lacking in taste. Not sure what changed, but I don't think we will be eating there anymore. read more

Really liked the fish fry. Service was quick and friendly. Will be back next time I am here.

Ate here late September, waitress double charged my credit card. Owner promised to rectify the issue 4 weeks ago. Still waiting. Was the food great? Nah. Edible? Yep. Will I go back? Only to get my refund. Buyer beware. read more
