The food is superb here compared to Franklin location. You have to enjoy smelling like smoke though. This has been a every week thing since we discovered it a year and a half ago. We must have tried everything on the menu. The highlights the FULL RACK OF RIBS 20 OUT OF 10 Way to go Anthony. My favorite is Nachos with pulled pork. Mr and I hands down though can't get enough of the loaded spud. The staff is super friendly. They let you sample items. The seating is basic, but it is Cafe style with tables and chairs or booths for 4 people. They serve Pepsi products which is a negative in my opinion. A good ice cold Coke is more fitting. Some of the worst bbq I've ever had in my life. The highlight was average hot link, potato salad that taste store bought and a half-a** brisket sandwich that makes Buc-ee's brisket sandwich look like Michelin Star. They delivered the dryest brisket that looked like elephant ankles directly from the flat, no round to be found and the chicken was dryer than middle east sand. Billy Sims BBQ catered my son's wedding rehearsal and the food was great! The ribs were a big hit as was the potato salad and sauces. We stopped in months before to try out samples of the food and it was all delicious. All the staff in the restaurant were very friendly and accommodating to our planning needs. Clay was very good to work with and knew exactly what we would need based on the number of guests. His delivery was prompt, courteous and very helpful. Everyone enjoyed the meal and we had plenty of leftovers for out of town guests the next day, who also loved it. Stopped here on a whim after seeing their sign before the HWY exit. SO HAPPY WE DID! The loaded baked potato with chicken was delicious as well as large enough for two. The chicken was moist and the baked potato done perfectly. Husband had the sandwich combo with pulled pork, potato salad and Cole slaw. Every item was flavorful, prepared perfectly and delicious. Staff were delightful and efficient. One staff member mentioned that she loved her job at Billy Sims. She shared the owner comes in and washes potatoes side by side the staff and even sent flowers when she was in the hospital. You gotta love an owner that treats their team well. I have been trying to get to this place for a while but they were never open while I was in the area or never answered the phone for a specific drive over. Today they answered the phone and they said that they have ribs so I drove over. The place is nice and fresh looking with booths and tables but it was empty so I did take out. I followed my rule that if I don't smell smoke that all I get is a 1/2 rack only because no smoke smell more than not has not so good ribs. I ordered the 1/2 rack dinner that comes with a slice of Texas toast and two sides, Mac and cheese with beans for me. My first impression was that it looked and smelled good. The ribs had a nice dark bark that was tasty and seasoned well with good flavor so no sauce is needed, my kind of ribs. The ribs were meaty/tender/moist fall off bone clean with the tips left on. The texture was good but not the chew that I like but not the boiled mush texture, somewhere in between and not heavy with the smoke. The beans were just ok that were very loose with strings of meat in them. The Mac and cheese was good with a thick cheese sauce and still somewhat firm with a light cheese flavor. I have been craving ribs for a while now and did they satisfy my crave for sure. I would definitely get the ribs again. read more

I like the barbeque here but was surprised yesterday when we went for takeout and none of the 3 employees, including the owner, were wearing a mask. Regardless of your feelings about the use of masks, the science is clear that in a situation where you are interacting with many customers a day, a face covering helps to limit infection. The science on that is very clear. Every business has a hope to succeed but the message here seems to be that either they don't agree with the science or don't care enough for their customers to manage the inconvenience. Interestingly, he noted that business started great on re-opening but has been slowing down. I would like to go back but as a 61 year old man with a lung issue I won't take that risk for a meal. We had a 1 meat plate of pulled pork wit potato salad and baked beans. Excellent quality and includes a pickle and Texas toast. God additions and perfect portion size. The brisket was tender and had a good smoke flavor. My sides were baked beans which was good but needed BBQ sauce. The other side was cold slaw which was tasty. I had the Triple 20; it was my first time having BBQ with coleslaw. Let me tell you, I'm now a coleslaw convert! The meat was shredded pork. The coleslaw wasn't very sweet, which contrasted well with the sweetness of the BBQ sauce. I had the baked beans as a side. I really would like to love this place, as they're the only thing like it in West Bend. This was my second time trying the triple 20 sandwich and again the meat was lukewarm at best. This first visit I informed the manager, since my friend and I got the same sandwich and result. The manager initially blamed it on the coleslaw topping and later offered to remake it. This is the grand opening weekend for Billy Sims BBQ in West Bend. Billy himself was on site visiting with patrons and signing lots of autographs. As expected, the place was pretty packed, and the line was long. But it sure was worth the wait. I ordered the 3 meat platter with sliced brisket, hot link, and smoked bologna. YES, smoked bologna. The brisket was quite good, and the hot link was juicy, with a nice balance of cheesy and spicy. The bologna was tender and savory, and, well it's SMOKED BOLOGNA! Nuff said. For sides I had green beans and Mac n cheese. The green beans were good, but the Mac, OMG! Rich, creamy, cheesy, deliciousness. I really must recommend the Mac. The meal also comes with Texas toast, a pickle spear, sliced onions, and a pepper. There are 3 types of sauces to choose from, and I chose the "Oklahoma Boot Kickin Hot". Nice flavor and spice, without being too hot to distract the from the flavor of the meat. All of the employees I interacted with were friendly and professional. Friendly staff, clean restaurant, but most of the food is average or below. We've had most all of the meats except the pulled pork, and the only one that impressed me was the ribs. The chicken and turkey sandwiches are relatively flavorless. The bologna is very bland, no better than Oscar Meyer. The sausages are just okay. The size of the sandwiches, for their high price, is disappointing. The buns are about the cheapest and lamest excuses for buns I've had anywhere, not worthy of a brisket sandwich. The beans were good, with shreds of pork. The mac and cheese was okay too. We will go back, but only for the ribs. They were well seasoned, thick and tender, but didn't fall apart. Better than great! I found this place on a fluke tonight. Ordered a 3 meat platter (chicken, pulled pork, sliced brisket) and I was pleasantly surprised. I moved here from the south where I found some BBQ places to be hit or miss (I'm picky). Usually I end up only liking one or two things at a place but here I really enjoyed everything and the sides I chose (coleslaw and baked beans) plus the sauce!! I tried the Mac n cheese and it was not good and should be scrapped immediately, the baked beans were decent, and the traditional potato salad was marginal at best. That's the best u have for potato salad? Seriously? The corn bread was wrapped in plastic wrap and was a little soggy, very surprised that it was not wrapped in a paper product.
