The Riverside Brewery is a dependable, no-frills restaurant in West Bend. It has a decently cozy ambience, however we went at 11 am for lunch and I think we were the only ones in the whole restaurant so the energy was low/quiet, but at least we had no problem hearing each other haha. We were seated in their lower level with a river view which was nice and they still had their pretty Christmas decor up. We started with Mimosas and a large pretzel to share. The mimosas were OK, I've had better but they were drinkable. The Pretzel was great! Their cheese dip and rootbeer mustard were both delicious and the pretzel was extra soft & hot - would recommend! Most of the table went with a soup/salad lunch combo which is a very nice, cost-effective offering. I opted for the buffalo chicken wrap w/a side salad. The side salad dressing was a house made cherry balsamic that was very tasty. The wrap was also OK, i've had better buffalo chicken wraps. I think it would be better if they'd make it crispy vs. grilled. Last but not least, my sister was celebrating her 40th birthday and they brought out a free birthday sunday which was a really sweet offering. We had arrived in West Bend after an all day ride through Illinois and to our final destination here in Wisconsin - the last 200 miles being in rain, and falling temperatures near the end. We were soaked, cold, and hungry. After a fresh dry set of clothes we decided to find a place to eat. I discovered this place on Yelp. It sounded good so we decided to go. It was still raining so I found us an Uber ride and away we went. I thought this place was pretty cool because of several things. Once we walked in we were greeted with a friendly smile; seating was down the stairs to a large open room with a long bar and a multitude of tables and seats; the decor was a lot of wood and it made me feel immediately comfortable. A great start! Our server was Jadye. She was very polite, friendly and helpful. She explained the specials, and the different drinks. When I inquired about an amber ale she let me try their "Main Street Amber Ale". It was a winner and so that was my chosen drink of the night. For my meal I ordered their wings - 6 Mango Habanero and 6 Thai Chili. We also split some beer battered cheese curds. Everything was delicious - with a special shout out to Wisconsin cheese curds! I had never had cheese curds before and these were spectacular!! Jayde checked on us throughout our meal and when she learned that we had ridden from Florida to Milwaukee for HD's 120th Homecoming she offered some great suggestions we might like to check out. After a nice visit to MOWA I ended up at Riverside Brewery and Restaurant and bellied up to the bar for service. This seems like a popular place in West Bend, and I enjoyed my visit. Service at the bar was pretty good, and my sandwich that was like a Philly Steak on a hoagie with peppers and mushrooms was good. I'm a big fan of craft beer, so I built a flight. There are a lot of style offerings here, some were great some were just off the mark. I did like the Veteran-focused names and the brewmaster is indeed a Veteran, thank you. Definitely stop in if you're in the area, but not a beer destination. read more

Met up with some friends for a New Year's Eve dinner at this cool little spot. Walked in and headed straight to the bar as we arrived before them. We checked in on Yelp and got a free 10 ounce craft beer of choice. Beers are great German tastings brews. We were sat downstairs and our waitress was very nice and informative. Tour of Riverside: this dish is great 3 of their signature items in one entree! 5 oz. cut of Prime rib, 1/3 rack of fall-off-the-bone ribs, and five garlic butter shrimp. The only thing I didn't care for on this particular dish were the unseasoned green beans, other than that everything else is cooked to perfection. I got mine with the soup and picked the beer cheese soup. Thick, bold flavor. This is a nice place to visit and we plan on returning with another group to explore more options. read more

We had a large group of people. I understand that a large group of people can be very overwhelming and frustrating. I have been out with large groups many many times before, and I have never had a server make comments like Judy did. It first started when we come downstairs was Judy pushing the tables together so aggressively that the ketchup flew off of them.... Which is unacceptable in my opinion, but after we offered to help, she made comments like 'I can do it. I don't want your help.' I attempted to go upstairs to order drinks because I didn't know where Judy had gone and another server was walking downstairs at the same time and told me to just go sit down and we can order with Judy. Another family from our team joined us after we were seated and instead of them being able to sit with us, Judy said 'I think we have enough at this table, you can sit over there.' And gestured to a table near us. Her rude behavior continued when we were ordering and I suggested that we order by Jersey number. We have done that many times. In fact, every time we go out with the team, that's what we do. She looked at me and said 'Is it so hard for you to just order as a family? Can you do that? Or is it really that hard?' I was shocked. The entire table of adults were shocked. I have never had a server be so rude! On the way out, I told the bartender that Judy was rude as fuck. Her response to me was to laugh and say yeah ok I'll pass the information along. We used to love this place and would visit frequently. The last several times it's been less than stellar. The server was attentive and friendly. The food was not great. Chili came out lukewarm the first time. My southwest chicken salad has been my favorite for years. After a busy day in West Bend at the Shalom Wildlife Park, we found this gem of a restaurant by searching Yelp for Patio Dining in West Bend. It is on the river so that makes it another plus. The place was easy to find with GPS. I didn't see parking available and the one lot across the street looked like it was reserved for the bank. There was ample street parking available. This place looks like it can get busy, but there was no wait for​ us. There is some sidewalk seating in the front then when you walk in, there is a large bar and some tables. definitely​ a brewpub​ atmosphere. The down a level is a more semi-formal​ dining room with what looks like a service bar​ and this leads to the patio. Patio​overlooks​ the river but was quite a bit smaller than I expected. Maybe 9-10 small tables. We were able to watch folks enjoying themselves floating​ or tubing down the river. They mak there own beers here and we tried The Amber Ale and The Dizzy Blond Weiss. Both very good. The Weiss had a good smooth flavor and was very refreshing. The Amber, while very good was a little strong for me. (You get a free 4oz sampler with your Yelp check-in​). There is also a sampler of 9 4oz beers for about $9.50, or $1.50 each Sunday special was half a baked chicken, choice of potato, and green beans. I had the garlic smashed and my sister had a baked. The chicken​ was delicious. Hot and moist on the inside and a slight crisp to the skin. My potatoes were red skin smashes and they were perfect. Greenbeans​s appeared to be sauteed​ and had some crisp. We finished up by sharing an apple cobbler. A party of four of us ate here on a Friday evening. We were greeted kindly when we walked in and asked if we had made reservations, which we had. We were early so we sat at the cozy bar which is in a horse shoe shape, this makes for easy conversation. The bartender and locals were all very friendly and welcoming as we waited for our table. My husband had a craft beer and I had a glass of wine, which were both good. We then went downstairs to a nice dining area with an additional bar, where we were seated at a table for four. Our waitress, Judy, was very friendly and on top of things, with getting our orders placed and filling drink orders. Judy was very attentive and her service was exceptional. All four of us ordered some form of the fish fry, which we all enjoyed very much. I myself had the 2 piece baked, with baked potato. I had more fish than I could eat, the fish was delicious, with a tasty seasoning and butter. The bread that came with it was a delicious thick piece of marbled rye. The coleslaw was a generous portion and was creamy, crunchy and very tasty. Everyone in our party stated how much they enjoyed their meal. Two in our party had the fried cod and said it was also very good.One person had the potato pancakes with their meal and said they were very good. This is a very nice establishment in downtown West Bend. We were there on a Friday evening and were pleasantly surprised at 8 am that the place was not packed. We ordered the breaded cod and the shrimp and were pleased with the food and the beer. The weiss beers are flavorful and not too Americanized. My fruit weiss was pomegranate - I did not expect that but was willing to give it a try and was not disappointed! Somewhat sweet but an excellent level of taste and hoppiness. Our server was pleasant and professional and our entrees arrived quickly and were prepared excellently. Some restaurants doing fish fry "float" fish - ie they just keep making fish and sell it as it comes in. This leads to fish that has been under the heat lamp for a while. This was not the case here - our entrees were hot and fresh. Next time in West Bend, I'm coming back. read more

I had my first date with my boyfriend there like 8 years ago. It was amazing, except for a slightly loud setting in the lower level. Bruschetta, food, all incredible. We did get carry out prime rib during covid which was great!, were anxious to go there again once it was safe (about 2 yrs ago or so ago). We were "greeted" by the high school aged hostess in a crop top that seemed irritated we were there. Got sat at a tiny 2 top table (we're old, go out to eat on "off" times) at the bottom of the stairs, between the bathrooms and kitchen. The entire restaurant, minus the bar area and baby/wedding shower event in the lower area was empty, as in MANY other tables we could have been seated at. They shouldn't even have tables tucked in that area! The white tablecloth had stains all over it, sucked having people constantly walking by us (especially since the covid restrictions were just eased then, and we're old). We ordered the bruschetta, imagining it from our first date. It was not. It was stale bread of some sort, like wheat or rye, LOTS of onions (never heard of that on a bruschetta before and i HATE onions), service sucked because I'm guessing more focus was on the large party versus 2 old people. We were seated quickly without a reservation. However, it seemed as if a reservation is likely preferred. We were seated upstairs - there is also a dining area downstairs. Our waitress arrived quickly. She was very helpful in answering questions and recommending beers. Our drinks also arrived quickly and we were ready to order. The kids ordered chicken tenders and a burger. Both cleaned their plates quickly, so their meals must have been good. The kids' menu also included macaroni and cheese, grilled cheese, and mini corn dogs. Each meal included fries, homemade chips, or applesauce. This is located on the south side of downtown West Bend just west of the Milwaukee river. This is where it takes an odd Western bend as it passes though town hence the name West Bend. Now you know.. I Came here for a tasting of wines beers and appetizers. The entry showcases the brewing equipment on the Right on the left if the rectangular bar with a dining area. We sat at the lower level.which is good for meetings or events. The back patio has a few tables to enjoy the milwaukee river. Service was good, parking was out on the street. The upper area has enough equipment to supply this place with its own supply of freshly made beers. Long ago when I was a kid, I remember coming here as it was one of the 4 places that had fish for pets. So yes it has changed quit a bit. Have been coming here for many years, and have to say that despite a large and very disparate menu, they do basically everything well. I've had most of it, from steak to crab legs to burger to ribs, and it's all good. Their soups (esp clam chowder and beer cheese) are good. So is the mozzarella appetizer and the wings. The service is always professional but still warm, and the decor is similar, though perhaps leans a little more toward the generic side in my opinion. The one knock I suppose I would have is that, to me, they don't do anything exceptionally well. There's nothing here that I really crave or think is amazing. That said, all of their food is good, the quality and service is consistent, and I've really never had a bad experience in my multiple trips, making this a great place to please a large group and to come back to on a semi-regular basis. read more

My prime rib panini is the best sandwich I had in years and the French onion soup is top not. My wife really enjoyed her portabella mushroom panini. They have a Yelp check-in offer for a free 4oz beer sample, so be sure to get that! A fairly massive group went here between the ceremony and reception for the wedding we were all in town for. This is where the bride and groom met, I believe, so they had $1 off tap pours for wedding guests. I enjoyed my beer sample, something honey, in the tiniest, cutest little beer stein. The staff was friendly and dealt with our large group very well. It was easier once we all moved to the downstairs area, instead of taking up the whole of the bar area. The cheese curds were great (as if cheese curds could ever be anything less than amazing). And I greatly enjoyed the River Water cocktail (much tastier than the name sounds, I promise!). read more
