Made it back to Foxtown for the first time in awhile. Took our family, and met another family there a well. With having four kids in tow, we requested the room in back where all of the arcade games are, to give the littles space to move around without disrupting others. It's definitely a little quieter up there, with a fair bit less ambiance, but that was fine with us. Service was on the slower end, but still a friendly guy. We first ordered some cheese curds for the table and damn are those good here. Big in size, too. A few brews were had, along with a margarita for me. Very tasty. We then ordered chicken tenders from the kids for our boys to split, and I went with brisket tacos. Tacos are on the pricey side, but certainly delicious. I am absolutely FURIOUS about our experience at Foxtown Brewing. This place was a COMPLETE DISASTER from the second we sat down. Our drinks were WRONG. The kitty cocktail didn't even have cherries in it -- how hard is it to put TWO CHERRIES in a glass? And the root beer tasted straight-up disgusting. Flat, weird, just BAD. That was the first sign this whole thing was going to be a mess. But here's the part that really makes my blood boil: WE WAITED ONE HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES FOR OUR FOOD. AN HOUR. AND. FIFTEEN. MINUTES. And it NEVER CAME. Not once did anyone give us a real explanation. No urgency. No apology that meant anything. Just nothing. We were sitting there starving while tables around us were getting served. After wasting over an hour of our lives, we finally said screw this and canceled our order. We walked out hungry and beyond irritated. And you know what? We went to a FAST FOOD place afterward and it was FASTER, BETTER, and actually COMPETENT. That's honestly embarrassing for a place that's supposed to be a legit restaurant. Completely unacceptable. Ridiculous service. A total waste of time and money. What's wrong with you? Easily 25 visits and no review? This place slipped by, I thought I reviewed this place 4-5 years ago. I've enjoyed this place from day one. Today one of the customers asked Kyle the bartender about the fish fry so I told him it's a beer batter that the cook makes with beer. On a busy night the kitchen will actually take a cambro right from the tap. I told him Yelp has a few pictures. Sadly only one picture of fish and it's of a different shape. Kurt Mayes the brewmaster has a long history at MKE brewing. This place easily has 24+ of their own house taps and recently obtained a liquor license. 2 years ago along with an arcade in the brew deck. Food 5 beer to go is on special buy a six and get the second for half price. Growlers and food to go what a great place to live. I look forward to fall time beers like that pumpkin porter. We had the worst experience here two times in a row! Tonight we had a reservation for 5:30 PM for 6. We ordered burgers, sandwiches- very easy meals and we are just leaving at 8:15! Server was kind and mortified of the kitchen's inability to execute a meal in a decent amount of time, but this was so unacceptable. We were celebrating a birthday and by the time we left the only thing we were celebrating was getting out of there!! Multiple tables walked out around us, but with two young kids we needed to eat. I was in town Saturday so I stopped in. What a fabulous restaurant! Great windows and comfy ambiance! It had been a long day after perusing all menus i opted to forego a meal so i could get on the road. Seeing other tables meals come out...i doubted my decision; they all looked delicious & salads were plentiful. With the assistance of my friendly and ever so helpful server Kirsten; we built a flight... that i then abandoned...to get back on the road. I opted for a taster pour of Old Ozaukee Czech Amber Lager, as i was curious about the style. It was delicious! Great venue to host a gathering! I attended a family-friendly event that consisted of about 50 people of all ages at this brewery. They accommodated us in a party room that was very accessible to all. (There were a few stairs involved in getting to the space) The environment was lovely and perfect for our gathering for people to either sit and eat or walk around and mingle. I had the Featured Burger, which was a Poutine Burger and it was very good! I highly recommend this location for your next gathering or to just to check out for dinner in your in the area and looking for a good restaurant to try! Enjoy! read more

Rough Friday at Foxtown. I want to love it here so bad but I alway leave disappointed. I ignore the part that we are packed in the sardines that the act of getting to the table itself feels like I'm in a video game. The food just isn't good. We had a 6:15 reservation last night. Ordered pretty much right away (2 sandwiches and a rack of ribs) and then had the heartbreak of seeing table after table get their food before us that we know were seated and ordered after. It took an hour to finally get it and I could not even eat my burger. I ordered it medium and it was charred. No pink in sight. Waters never refilled...serving error 101. At least keep the people hydrated! All of us left disappointed. read more

We had a nice time at Foxtown, the atmosphere was great! I'd love to come back just for cheese curds and a flight when baby comes. The service was good, although a little slow to get our food considering it wasn't very busy at lunch time. The cheese curds were great!! The architecture is beautiful insidd! There are rougn timbers on the ceiling and a high peaked ceiling above the bar. The place is very busy so make reservations. Many, many beers on tap! I had the Amber ale which was delicious. I had to order the cheese curds and tbey did not disappoint. The only downfall would be the sauce. Can't they make an original sauce to go with the tasty cheese curds? We also orderdd the brisket tacos and they were good as well. read more

We've been to Foxtown Brewing a handful of times and have always had a great experience. The ambience is rustic and laid back, it's versatile in the sense you can have lunch with your friend, dinner with family or bring your kids along too - definitely not too fancy for a little noise! The covered patio is a nice alternative to sitting outside (however, during our most recent visit this past weekend it was a little chilly and their north-end heaters weren't working!) The beer they brew is fantastic, so many good ones! A couple personal faves are the Amber ale & seasonal Oktoberfest. The truffle fries are and I tried their Buffalo chicken sandwich this last time - delicious! Service can be a little slower around lunch but dinner was efficient. Ordered a French dip sandwich & cheese curds. Curds were good but the beef on the sandwich appeared to have been warmed on a grill--brown "toasty" looking marks on the meat. It was tough & dry. Told server but we did not have time to re-order; it took forever to get the first order. She said she'd tell manager who " generously" comped 50% of the sandwich. This is a cute brewery that I visited with my mother, grandmother and sister. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The menu has a wide variety of choices for everyone, even some vegetarian options. We ordered honey garlic bruschetta for an appetizer and it was really good. I got the candied jalapeno wrap which was really good, the only thing is I'd prefer more jalapenos, I only got a few bites with jalapenos. My mother and grandmother got the 1857 burger and said it was good. My sister got a giant pretzel which we all shared. We did not get any beer or wine. Just be aware they don't have a liquor license so they only offer beer, wine, and seltzers. read more

I've been to Milwaukee 4 times in the last 6 months for work. It's one of my favorite destinations because I like the food up there. Anything dairy or beef gets my top spot. But one of my rules when I travel is to never eat at the same restaurant more than once unless it's really good. I'm about to break my rule because Foxtown Brewing has not only the best cheese curds, but also burger and French onion soup I've ever tasted. I already plan on going back on my next trip. Now I know Foxtown Brewing is a brewery but I unfortunately didn't partake in that simply because my work has a non-alcohol policy while on the job. The cheese curds are from Clock Shadow Creamery. I don't know where that ranks in comparison to other Wisconsin creameries but their curds are THE BEST. The very first time I came to Milwaukee in 2016, I visited a Clock Shadow Creamery store and bought a bag of squeaks. I'll never forget my first! A light crispy batter encased the perfectly melted cheese curd. Creamy, warm, chewy, with great stretchy elasticity, I ate whole appetizer plate by myself. The French onion soup was to die for. Savory, salty, onion-y with a chewy bed of creamy cheese, baked to perfection. I drank it and I didn't care if other people saw me. The Hamilton's Mushroom Swiss burger was fantastic! The patties were seared where there was a slight crunch to the patty. The mushrooms were delightful and added the right amount of flavor to where the burger needed no seasoning. This burger was your textbook mushroom and swiss. My mouth is watering writing this review. I cannot wait to go back. read more

We stopped here for fish fry because we had driven by so many times and usually seemed busy. The menu is small. No steaks. Fish had a very thick beer batter coating. Nice sized pieces but 3 on one plate and 2 on the other was odd. Size of pieces were the same. Coleslaw - ok. Tartar - didn't care for it but it was edible. We agreed that we wouldn't go back. Noisy, more of a bar which i guess is appropriate as they brew beer. Their blue raspberry soda made inhouse was good. If you want a really good fish fry go to St.Pauls Fish Company across the street. Or Range Line Inn. If you want beer then Foxtown Brewing is probably perfect for you. They did make a good margarita. read more

I am from the St. Louis area and I have a strong interest in microbreweries that serve good beer alongside amazing food. If that sounds appealing to you, then you definitely need to visit this place. The food was exceptional, and the service was great. My server, Angela, was very attentive, even though I came in during shift change--a notoriously tricky time to dine anywhere, as I know from working in the service industry. The cheese curds were absolutely incredible; I've never experienced cheese curds quite like these, and I doubt I can enjoy any others the same way again. The variety of beer available was impressive as well! They offered a wide selection, and I loved that I could order flights to sample different options. I enjoy trying various beers, and unlike some microbreweries with only a limited selection, this place had so many choices that it was hard to decide what to try. I noticed the bartenders giving brewery tours, which I thought was really cool. Although I didn't have the chance to participate this time, I would definitely return for that, as the bartender seemed very knowledgeable about the brewing process. Overall, this is an amazing destination for anyone who appreciates small brewing companies and fantastic food. I will likely be raving about this experience for months to come, as it was undoubtedly the highlight of my trip. read more

We had eaten lunch across the street but needed to kill some more time so our group wandered over to have some afternoon beers. What a fantastic space! This is great reuse of a historic building - kudos to the owners! Really cool. Actually the outdoor space is also great but it was too hot and sunny for us (no tables in the shade were available). We grabbed a table in the bar area and enjoyed our beers. I tried their hefeweizen which was very good. The bartenders were friendly and helpful. The prices decent. I did not look at the food menu but if back in this area I would like to give it a try. Overall a very positive experience. read more

The bartender did a great job, but once we sat down, no one made an effort to serve us. I understand it was after 7pm, but there were enough staff on the floor. They looked over at our table, yet not a single person approached us. Sitting there unattended was definitely not a great experience. Long overdue review here. My wife and I have been to Foxtown a bunch of times over the past couple years now. It's a really cool, historic location. The place has lots of places to sit from a main dining area to an outside patio on the back and a patio in the front. Since we've mostly been eating here during the pandemic, we stick to the patios. The staff is always super nice and friendly, and every time has been reasonably speedy, not that we're ever in a hurry there. Really good lineup of beer throughout the year. Lots of variety. I've had everything from their lighter lager to their stouts. In general haven't had a bad beer there. Big fan of their food in particular. Some appetizers that have really stood out - the curds, calamari, totchos and big pretzel. Definitely a place to go for a good Friday fish fry. The signature Foxtown 1857 burger is excellent, right down to the bone marrow butter. The pork schnitzel sandwich is a favorite, as is the Philly sandwich. All in all, have been there pushing a dozen times now and haven't had a bad experience. read more

Was able to make a reservation through Open Table and was seated promptly on arrival. This restaurant is a cozy, pretty space with a beautiful copper topped bar which you can also order food at. The assortment of beers here is incredible, even offering a non-alcoholic option. I ordered the Ancho Beet Salad with salmon, which was absolutely delicious. The salmon was prepared perfectly. Tender, juicy, and hot. It's probably the best I've had on a salad. My husband ordered the fish sandwich. The fish on the sandwich had a nice crisy coating, but there was just a little too much tartar sauce. The seasoned fries that came with it were flavorful and crispy. This place offers cave tours, trivia night, live music, and 6 pack takeways. This was my first time here, but I would definitely go back. read more

Foxtown is a great new addition to Mequon! The interiors aesthetic is really rustic modern and beautiful. We were seated on the enclosed patio, I was worried about the temperature out there but it was well regulated. The brunch was really amazing. A lot of great menu options, it was hard to decide what to get. I chose the chicken and waffle Benedict and I was not disappointed. It was truly fantastic. Other hits were the chorizo dish, pecan waffles, and the jasmine rice hash brown (this is a side but very well regarded at our table). As for drinks, it appears they don't have a full liquor license so the brunch "cocktails" were a little bizarre. We only got the Bloody Mary (made with Sake) and it was pretty good. We prefer a Bloody Mary with vodka but we were pleasantly surprised by this. We are looking forward to going back for dinner and trying other dishes! read more

Plenty of seating inside with a bar and a high top area. Wife said that she could see sitting here watching the game.. Nice high ceilings- plenty of character. There is a very nice outside area- with a separate bar and TV's that we saw walking in. Service was very attentive and very pleasant. I had a burger which I liked a lot Mrs didn't do a Reuben this time and has the fish instead which she shared and was liked by all. I live right in the lot adjacent to this restaurant so I was dying to try the food. The staff is always super friendly when I walk by so that made me even more eager to place an order. I must admit, however, I was disappointed when the restaurant opened and made no effort to even invite those of us in the building right in the lot next door over to try it out. Still, I chose to be COVID friendly and support the local business. I ordered three entrees and, because I'm not a drinker, left out the beer offer even though they are a brewery! I was sorely disappointed. All the food was hot and looked good but it wasn't anything special. I had chicken wings, pulled pork sandwich (from the kids menu), and the schnitzel sandwich. It was all just standard bar food. None of it was something I would order again. In fact, the schnitzel tasted like something made in a high school cafeteria. The fried patty was over cooked, the ham was lunch meat grade, and the cheese was solidified as if the entire meal was sitting under a heat lamp for a while before I picked it up. The kid's meal wasn't seasoned at all because I asked for no sauce. I guess all the seasoning is in the sauce -- which should have been explained before just selling it to me because it was not inedible. I had to toss it. The wings are still in my refrigerator looking for a BBQ sauce! I still think the staff is friendly and maybe people go there for the beer not the food. Since I'm not a drinker, I can't speak to that. However, I lived in Germany for 2 years! That, was NOT schnitzel! I would never order those entrees again and even though this restaurant IS my backyard, it will be a long time before I eat there again.
