Shut the menu so the know we are ready to order! Still not even a smile, nod, nothing. More worried about pulling dirty plates off the tables that are finishing up. Hummm there are people waiting for tables. Finally after being passed by continuously we set a timer. We will give it 5 more minutes. STILL not one waitress came to our table. Been here a few times and a solid option in Kewaskum. The interior is wide open with garage door windows that can open to the street on warmer days. Tap list is acceptable and their margaritas hit the mark-especially impressed with their selection of top shelf tequilas. On Fridays, their fish tacos are outstanding. Generously sized with a perfect batter and fry, try the tacos with their house-made salsa verde. On another visit, execution was a little flawed. Advertised as a wet burrito, the burrito was covered more in a thick paste. The filling was on point but a little dry. Great waitstaff and solid food. Siri delivered us to the front door; parking for a score of cars is located behind the shop. The venue is clean, modern and beautifully finished. The menu is a bit cluttered and will take a bit of time to peruse. Cloe, our waitress was trim, friendly, efficient, offering a brilliant smile and a good sense of humor. My wife ordered a vegetable burrito and I ordered a half-rack of ribs. The burrito was massive and satisfied my wife. My meal was well presented, and consisted of a small salad, slaw, fries, and ribs. Each item was well prepared. Fries were outstanding but the other items were a bit pedestrian. The slaw might have been better prepared with a dash of vinegar, or a dab of horseradish, perhaps a few chopped cranberries to make it a Wisconsin specialty and enliven the dish. The beans were warmed out-of-a-can, no spice, no meat, bacon bits and a dash of chili sauce would have helped to make the more memorable. The ribs were over-cooked, while they were meaty and fall-off-the-bone tender, they were dry and required sauce to make them more palatable. I am only trying to be objective here, not intending to turn anyone away, I would return, but with lower expectations. I got what I asked for, but have had better. read more

A great spot with outstanding options for both food and drink! While visiting with my wife and daughter we were brought to El Pig's by some family who live local. The staff was so nice and the menu options caught by surprise. A great variety of delicious choices that reminded us of home back in Texas. The restaurant was a pleasant atmosphere with comfy music, solid lighting, and a "home" style decorum. The bar is an ideal size for large or small groups and the spacing makes movement within easy. Stopped in on a Sunday for lunch as we were driving through town. Wasn't greeted and seated right away. Place was empty except for two other tables. Once seated, took 10 minutes to get 2 waters and a coffee. Then two guys sat at the bar to watch football. Volume on all TVs was then turned on. Guys at bar could be heard swearing at game. Food took an unusually long time to come out for all 3 tables. My brisket sandwich was so smothered in BBQ sauce and had a funny aftertaste. Fries were short and clumped together. Husband had salad with steak. Nothing special. Restaurant needs to decide if they are a sports bar, a BBQ joint, a Mexican restaurant, or a cafe, but they can't be all 4 and do it well. I crave a good breakfast burrito, so when I saw that El Pig's has one on their breakfast menu and I didn't have to make modifications to it (I'm not a fan of onions and peppers, which theirs doesn't have), it was a no brainer for me to try. I started driving and placed a pickup order for one with bacon for the meat. The burrito had some heft to it and I appreciated the side of lettuce, tomato, salsa, and sour cream. I was surprised to see the burrito was made more like an omelette then wrapped in the tortilla instead of all the ingredients being cooked separately then combined when rolled up. Not a problem, just something that's different compared to how other restaurants seemingly make theirs. My only complaint is that I wish the potato was more like deep fried hash brown cut into chunks than shredded hash brown. I think the crispy of deep fried hash brown would have given the burrito a wonderful crunchy texture and helped it go from good to great. read more

First let's level set. I rarely like ribs. I do not like fatty ribs. My kids do not like to mix food or step too far out of their comfort zone. The Review: RIBS: I frigging loved these ribs!! They are not greasy or fatty. They are super tender and the bones just lightly pull away. I'm didn't even add any BBQ to them as the flavor of the meat was smoked and lightly BBQ'd to perfection. My wife is a a rib fan, and she also starred the ribs. A must have if you like ribs at all!! PULLED PORK CHEESY MAC. - This was fantastic and loved by the entire family. It's not fake cheese, or very dry cheese, or super rich cheesy Mac. This was perfect and the kids loved the BBQ and pulled pork on top. I thought for sure the was going to end up eating this for the kids. Nope! The kids did not like all the deep fried string onions on top, but they did like some. 14/16 years liking onions and pulled pork on top of Mac and cheese?!? Yup, it was that good! PULLED PORK TACO's - this was ordered by my 14 year old son. They were so good none of us got to try them!! Cheeky little squirt! BURGERs - my wife went safe and ordered a basic burger. I visited this restaurant before St. Patrick's Day (and before the "stay-at-home" order was official ), when looking for a local spot for lunch during my day at Sunburst Winter Sports Park, just a few miles away from this bbq joint. This place has a a fun, playful atmosphere. My order took longer than expected, but the quality of the food was fine. I'd like to check it out again. My server was nice and attentive. If I could give zero stars, I would. We went there with a group of 10 and we were told we couldn't all sit together because they needed the tables in case other people came in to eat. We told her we would be fine splitting up, that we were hungry and just wanted to eat. The waitress said she would need to check first and would be right back. I counted 10 tables that were open plus all of the seating at the bar. This was just before 2pm on a Sunday and I am pretty sure they weren't going to be getting many more customers in at that time. We sat there for what felt like forever, being completely ignored while 2 waitresses kept going on about their business, walking past us as if we didn't exist. There have been many restaurants in this particular downtown Kewaskum location with El Pig's Butt being the most recent occupant for about the last four months. This is an older building that has been modernized to have a pleasant well lighted interior. Situated right in the center of the Kewaskum business district you'd think you couldn't ask for a much better location. Seeing the name, you'd really expect this to be a bbq type restaurant. They do have ribs on the menu & perhaps they are awesome, but I'll have to save that for a different review because I didn't try them on this visit. We stopped on a Saturday afternoon around 4 p.m. and we were the only customers at the time. It was one of those "day drinking" type visits. We sat at the bar and the bartender who I believe probably is also the owner or manager was courteous and quick to greet us. My wife had a margarita which she enjoyed. I went with the brandy old fashioned which came in a tall glass at $7.50 a pop. It was a good drink, just a little pricey if you plan to have a few of them. We went with chips & salsa, cheese curds and the classic hamburger. A well prepared burger with crispy fries. The cheese curds had a mild spice added that really added to the flavor beyond a typical order of curds. We were checked on throughout our meal & I never found myself with an empty old fashioned glass. I wish El Pig's Butt well and hope they can make a go of it in a location where so many others have seemed to fail in the past. We'll return and I'll give the ribs a try. read more

This place is in Kewaskum, 50 miles north of Milwaukee. It's Fine for small town tastes. Not for a cultured palate. It took too long to get our food. There weren't that many people in the dining room either. It must be so that you order more drinks. Our food was tepid. My tortilla was so tough that I should have asked for a steak knife. The orange juice used for the screwdrivers was a little off. The ketchup on the tables must not be refrigerated overnight because it tasted like it had turned to vinegar. The Deluxe burritos that my husband and I had were just so-so. They had lots of filler with rice and beans. I've had better at chain restaurants. Our waiter never returned to ask how our food was because my husband would have told him it was room temperature. read more

Ok this is a great spot! Stopped here on our way to camping at kettle moraine when it was thunder storming. Needed a spot to wait it out...they had buy one get one 50% off margs and Busch light bottles, honestly exactly what we needed. So, we found a supposed deal on "local flavor" where one pays $15 for $30 worth of dining, generally a good deal, but HERE our 2 beers weren't covered (as stated in the small print). Then, the meals didn't add up to required $30, so we ordered some dreadful deep fried, egg roll looking cheesecake to split. After adding that crazy, overpriced $5.99 item, 2 beers and a proper tip, it seemed we saved $2 by having the coupon. 3 Strikes You're out! Our first time - restaurant "leadership" (manager/owner) would not honor our coupon (even though "exclusions" were not clearly communicated). The second time - we were deceived about the use of our debit card to avoid "extra" credit card surcharge (no thanks for passing along the extra charge even with a debit card). The third time - we waited well over an hour after ordering for our greasy and over battered fish dinners, then asked five minutes later if we wanted take home boxes and then asked five minutes later to vacate the table because the table was needed for the next customers. Examining the receipt, we were penalized with the surcharge even though we paid with cash and the tip was automatically added because we had six in our party (tip calculated with surcharge and tax included). What a racket they have going! When I discussed the matter with the manager/owner, I received no apology other than "sorry, we are shorthanded and need to keep things moving". Not cool - shifting your problems i.e., surcharges, staff shortages and timing issues to customers and patrons. This is not a way to treat people/customers. The owners/managers, Sandra Mendoza and others will have more time for others now because I, my family, my extended family, my neighbors, and other friends will no longer be bringing our business and wallets here.
