Well i believe this is my second time eating here. My parents retired to a home in Mayville so I know they come more often. They have big portions I ordered the Allegra Chimi which is one huge chimi I chose ground beef ordered a strawberry margarita as they didn't have rasberry they were out a few flavors I like my sour cream and quac so I ordered a large certainly had enough of quac they didn't really give me enough sour cream in my mind a little inky dinky thing. Other than these two gripes rice and beans were inside the chimi I think I like them better separate but they put it all together and I love that they drown it in a white cheese queso of some sort a cactus salad on the side... it was pretty good but there were my thoughts I wish they could have provided me a refill never got a chance to have a second drink but was a pretty decent night out I did like the salsa and chips... I came here at the recommendation of family members that live nearby. WOW! I have lived all over the US and tried Mexican food everywhere. Don Ramon's is authentic and delicious! Wonderful menu selection. The service and atmosphere was also amazing. We will definitely come here again when we visit. As a Mexican American myself, I was very impressed! I am working in Mayville this week and all the locals mentioned Don Ramon as their favorite restaurant. I went there for lunch today and wasn't disappointed. The chips were served promptly, very warm, and the salsa was smooth and spicy, with an excellent flavor. The lunch menu offered many selections, I chose a burrito combo which was delicious. It was covered with creamy white cheese, the beans and rice were flavorful. I also sampled a cheese enchilada and it was very good as well. Portions were huge, especially for lunch specials. Service was very efficient and super friendly. The dining room was clean and featured a nice atmosphere. I plan to return for dinner this week so I can try some of the unique menu items and a couple of margaritas. read more

Food is decent. In some ways it's very authentic and then in others it's very white-washed. Having lived in California, I tend to prefer a more authentic experience (tall order for a joint in rural Wisconsin, I get it). Anyways, I ordered a taco plate the first time I tried Don Ramon. Twenty bucks because I wanted tacos Al pastor. Like, you're really gonna up charge me $6 for pastor? At least get some authentic tortillas. Second visit, bunch of tacos for taco Tuesday. Meh. Third time, I ordered a combo. Not bad, but not stellar. The reason I have this place so many chances is because someone said it was the best Mexican food in Wisconsin. I think not. My wife reviewed the restaurant back in June 2020 and felt it deserved a 4.5 as it takes a lot for us to rate a 5. Since there is no 4.5 rating, I'm giving it a 5 to equal that between us. We ate there again tonight and it did not disappoint. We both tried different pork dishes, my wife the Carnitas Don Ramon and I the El Pastor Especial, and they were outstanding. I grew up on the border of Mexico in South Texas and we would eat at various restaurants in Texas and Mexico every weekend. I have tried hundreds of Mexican restaurants all over and have to say outside of a couple restaurants in actual Mexico, Don Ramons is the best Mexican restaurant around and amazing for a small town. Once. My wife and I discovered this gem, we would eat here once a week and sometimes more. My wife always orders the same thing and loves it. Al pastor Street tacos is her go to meal and has never been disappointed. I personally switch mine up and have tried many things. I particularly enjoyed the seafood enchiladas, Camarones De Chipotle,Shrimp Tacos Cancun Burrito, and the El Hombre. We were told about this place by the manager at the Goodyear store and we have praised him ever since. Caution is advised when ordering Margaritas, their 'small' is a normal size drink, 'medium' is rather generous, and 'large' is served a glass big enough to hold one's face. Tonight, Helen had a vegetarian entre, while I had the "Porky Burrito" each was served with a side of Spanish rice that is among the best I have had. The burrito was large enough to feed two and was delicious. Service was prompt and courteous. The noise level would have been mor comfortable to me forty years ago than today. Nice casual atmosphere. Happy hour margaritas from 2-6 PM everyday and 2 for $9. The margaritas are very large and not shy of tequila. The beer also comes Supersized! Chips and salsa are standard. The portions of the entree's are large and the food is pretty friggin good. It was a friend's birthday and the staff put a sumbrero on him, sang Happy birthday and gave him a shot of tequila. It was a good time had by all and the prices are affordable, especially for the amount you get. Only glitch was the language barrier we had with our waiter. His English not too good. My boyfriend and I drove up to Mayville for a wedding on Sat. Not sure how long it would take us, we left IL early and didn't eat breakfast. Without weather and traffic to slow us down, we arrived for the ceremony 2 hours early. His sister, the mother of the groom, was already there setting up. She recommended we get a bite to eat from a restaurant on Main Street. I'm so glad she sent us to Don Ramon. We received a complimentary basket of warm, fresh, deeply fried house made tortilla chips and delicious "hot" salsa. When we finished the basket, she replenished it right away. I ordered the bowl of Tortilla soup. It was huge and reasonably priced at $5.99. I couldn't finish it. Jason gladly helped me out. I feel like I've missed out on something so good. If all enchiladas and burritos taste similar, is it the same for Mexican soup? Something tells me that theirs is a unique blend of chicken, rice, cheese, pico de gallo and tortilla strips. It was spicy in a great way! I'm really glad we had the opportunity to have lunch here. I'm sad there's no reason for me to ever return to this town.
