Nice place. Great home style breakfast. Yes, the pancakes really are that big..about 12-14 inches across (the size of a medium pizza), they are the thin, griddle type of pancake, great flavor. Bacon was divine. Each plate had enough hash browns to feed 2-3 people. We also loved the stuffed french toast (french toast with sausage, and egg in between 2 slices of french toast). The owner Gail is such a cutie. There were so many cars we almost didn't stop. Glad we tried it. The wait wasn't' too bad, maybe 20 minutes. They had self service coffee to enjoy while you wait. We ordered the billy buster and it was so much food I should have shared it with my husband. The pancakes are delicious and huge, big enough for 3-4 people to share two of them. I was seriously craving some good biscuits and gravy. How can something so simple be made so wrong by restaurants all over this great country? Biscuit from a mix? Gravy from powder? Not worth the valuable tummy real estate when I'm vacationing. This little restuarant does it right. They're proud of their food, and it sure shows in the taste. The texture of the biscuits was moist and fluffy. The taste was wonderful. And the gravy was good, too. I like mine a little more savory...load it with a touch more sausage and it would've been perfect. I ordered a la carte thinking I wouldn't need more food than what I got, but the bowl of gravy was generous, so I ended up getting another biscuit...Hehe. Note: Cash or check only. Found this little spot - where else - on YELP. It is located off the beaten path and gives you a taste of real Ozark food and flair. First: Parking is a bit tight. It appears to have perhaps been a store / gas station back in the day but has been added on to numerous times. There are no real parking spots which are marked so people kind of park wherever. Find a space and squeeze in though. Second: Staff are very friendly - mom and pop kinda place. Not your typical Cracker Barrel or IHOP, Thirdly: The food. My wife wife ordered the "Sloppy Biscuit" which is a biscuit covered in eggs, hash browns, sausage and gravy. She loved it although the sausage seemed to be a heat and eat patty. I had the chicken fried steak with a biscuit, hash browns and gravy. Hash browns are perfectly cooked - cripsy on the outside and tender on the inside. The steak was average - little greasy but not too bad. The biscuits are legit. Coffee - not that great. Hot, black, fresh and plenty of it but just average. Fourth: The service was very friendly. Our waitress has been there for 16 years and her daughter just started. This is not a place to go if you are in a hurry but it is plenty fast enough. I have eaten here several times. The food is good homemade stuff. The staff is always very friendly. Kids always end up with a free small toy of some kind. We never had to wait mush until today. I expected them to be busy and they were. It was Friday and the start of Memorial Day weekend. We waited about 30 mins for a seat and about an hour for our food. An absolute SKIP in Branson! If you think cracker barrel is actually good country cookin' you'll probably think this is too. Yes, the pancakes are enormous but they're tasteless. Omelets are oversized but average. Grits were pasty and overcooked. Bacon was expensive and utterly generic ($2.99 for 4 slices bacon?!). Biscuits were...big. Eggs were eggs. If you don't like smuckers apple butter or grape jelly you're out of luck. With the rating being so close to the Hungry Hunter we expected something special. What a let down. Make sure to bring cash or check, no plastic. Don't be surprised if one of your tablemate's plates are stacked on top of your food enough to leave indentations in it when it's brought out. Hard when you have little ones and they have to go all at the Ashe time! That said, it was good food and the omlettes are huge! Great local place away from the tourist traps. First of all, I should mention this since I either didn't read carefully enough or it isn't listed. No credit cards here! I had to go find an ATM, but no worries because it was worth it! The food is fantastic, portions are huge and everything is inexpensive. Even on a Monday morning, we waited nearly thirty minutes, so expect to wait even on a weekday. Our 10 year old celebrated his birthday the day before, and we decided to check them out on our way out of town. The staff is very kid friendly, as well as the regulars. Not only did the waitstaff sing him happy birthday and put a candle on his pancake, but a very nice regular paid for our meal (a very friendly surprise.) if you read this sir, thank you again! The only complaint I can even think of is the lack of real maple syrup, but I don't expect much else in Missouri. The quality of the food is great, the staff is attentive, and everyone has that small-town friendliness that can't be faked. First impression was not good as we were seated by a grumpy middle age man who did not even speak. He obviously didn't want to be there! Upon further questioning, we found out he is the owner's son (guess that's why he is still has a job). We got there early (7:30) so parking and seating was not a problem. Six of us ordered and all agreed food was excellent. I love a good cup (or two/three) in the morning, especially with breakfast. The coffee was lousy. We asked for cream and got a little container of milk. When we asked for cream the waitress told us they only have milk. We asked why a restaurant wouldn't have cream for their coffee. They said they didn't have room to store it!?!? She said a lot of regulars bring their own 1/2 and 1/2. Weird! We sent the coffee back and saved $1.79 each. Next time I'm brining my own travel mug of good coffee with cream! Yes, we will go back, despite the grump and the bad coffee - the food was that great! read more

Our visit was off-season, which made the experience very enjoyable. I had the breakfast burrito and my wife the Diced Ham Jubilee. Then we had a blueberry pancake, which was one of the best blueberry pancakes we ever had. Honestly, I can't follow the review where someone spend $40 on breakfast for two and thought McDonald's was better. We spend $25 and were stuffed. Some people will just complain at anything. Country decorating everywhere adds to the ambiance and the Grandma of the place checked us out personally. This place get's 5 Stars from us! read more

Give me a sixth star to use and I put it here. My family comes here every year after our lake weekend on Table Rock. There is always a long wait, impossible to find parking, and you feel like you are eating at grandmas house. These are some of the reasons I love this place. During the long wait, feel free to walk inside for a cup of coffee (help yourself). There are books and toys for the kids to entertain themselves sitting in the lobby (more like a living room). The place has even around for 20+ years, but it feels like somewhere that's been operating for 100 years. It's still a cash only (personal checks ok) pay, but the prices are very affordable. I've had the sloppy biscuit the last two years, but the burrito also looks amazing. I highly recommend this place. It's somewhere you will see some day on "Diners, Driveins and Dives". read more

CB has better pancakes (just because a pancake falls off the plate doesn't make it taste better), biscuits, sausage patties, and if you can't fry and egg you should be ashamed to call yourself a restaurant so that one's a wash. This is a must go to breakfast. That's all that you need. Well, not all, but most. I had the steak and eggs. The 9 oz steak was cooked to my favorite. The eggs are good when you put salt and pepper on them. The hash browns are really good too. The story of the meal was the pancakes. The plate was smaller than the pancake itself! Flaky and buttery, this just might be the best breakfast item here! The service was good, but just may need to pay a little bit more of attention. The food makes up for it in a way. Came here for breakfast one morning when in Branson on vacation, on a Tuesday around 8:30am, so only about a 5 minute wait (party of 6), which was perfect for us. All of us enjoyed what we ordered, but probably the most unique dish we had was a pecan French cake, which is a pancake soaked in custard and then fried (like you would for French toast). It was very good, but 2 large cakes with no other sides made it a lot of the same. I would suggest splitting it with others. I will happily return to this place any time I come back to Branson. read more
